William Young

William Young's birth date and place not stated. Names of parents not stated. In 1832 the veteran was 72 years of age. He was referred to as Major William Young with no explanation of the rank. There is no reference in the file to the veteran's wife. He was survived by children, their names not mentioned. In 1832 the veteran stated that he had a cousin named William Young who sometime past had lived in the western part of Tennessee.

The veteran volunteered in Rowan County, North Carolina, but his residence then was not mentioned. In the fall of 1787 he moved to what later was the State of Kentucky. In 1832 he resided in Adair County, Kentucky. He died July 11, 1838, place not given.

When the veteran applied for pension he stated that he enlisted in October 1777 and served sixteen months as Private with the North Carolina Troops under Captains Falls and Hall and Colonels Locke and Cloyd. He also stated that he enlisted on May 3, 1789 and served ten months as Private with the North Carolina Troops and that he was in the battles of Ramsour's Mill and Shallow Ford.

William Young was pensioned on Certificate 7350, which was issued under the Act of June 7, 1832. Pension was paid at the Kentucky Agency.
