The parents of Thomas Young are not stated. His date of birth and place of birth not given. In 1837 it was stated that the veteran left neither widow nor children. In 1842 the veteran's brother, Robert Young, was referred to as having dived many years ago in Mason County, Kentucky. Thomas Young died April 22, 1837, place not given.
Thomas Young was commissioned as Captain on November 8, 1779 and served with the Virginia Troops under Colonel Joseph Crockett. Some time in March or April 1781 they joined General George Rogers Clark's Expedition to the Falls of the Ohio, where they remained until December 25, 1781.
Captain Thomas Young was pensioned on Certificate 3515, which was issued under the Act of June 7, 1832. The pension was paid at the Kentucky Agency.
