Jacob Chestnut Will

I Jacob CHESTNUT of the County of Laurel and State of Kentucky being advanced in years and knowing that all men must die and while I am in good health of sound mind and memory deem it proper to make and publish this my last will and testament.

I give and bequeath to my son Stephen CHESTNUT all that Part of my tract of Land bying on the South side of the Manchester Road as it now runs through the same and being the Same land upon which the said Stephen CHESTNUT now lives I make this bequest in consideration of the kindness, care and attention which the said Stephen CHESTNUT has manifested to me in my ______ and if I should here after make any disposition of my other property it is not my intention to interfere with this bequest I witnes I have here unto set my hand and seal

In addition to the foregoing bequest heretofore made by me to my son Stephen CHESTNUT I now deem it Proper and do hereby make this codicil to said will in manner and as follows.

Namely In consideration the kind treatment and service of my daughter Ann CHESTNUT toward myself and her mother in our old age I give and bequeath to my said daughter all that Part of my said tract of Land on which I now live lying on the the North Side of the Salt Works on Manchester Road ecept a small piece which is now enclosed in my son John CHESTNUT field and which small peice I Give to my son John.  I also Give and bequeath to my said daughter Ann all my personal estate of every kind and description may be on hand at my death and that my present wife.  In Witness where of I here unto Set my hand and Seal

I C. W. JONES Clk of Laurel County Court certify that the foregoing Will & Codicel of Jacob CHESTNUT was produced in open Court at Nov Term 1877 and proven by the oath of C. B. FARIS and Arther SASSER Subscribing Witnesses.  Here to and Exceptions having been filed there to Same was continued in court untill Oct Term 1878 when A. J. JACKSON and John CHESTNUT by their Atty. R. BOYD with drew Said Exceptions and Said Will was ordered to Record

Where upon the Same is here by done accordingly
