This Indenture made this 9th day of Dec. 1882, between A. H. Thomas Sr. and Paulina
Thomas, his wife, of Lee Co., Ky., of the first part, and Wm. M. Combs and Charles J. Little of  Breathitt County, Ky., of the second part, Witnesseth: That whereas the party of the first part has this day borrowed from the parties of the second part; One hundred & fifty dollars from Wm. M. Combs & One hundred and fifty dollars from Chas. J. Little, amounting in the aggregate to Three hundred dollars, and have executed his promissory note to each of said parties for the sums aforesaid, payable in twelve months with interest from this date, and being desirous of securing them in the full payment thereof, have this day mortgaged to said party of the second part, said Combs and Little, all that tract of land lying on the North side of the North fork of the Kentucky River in Lee County, containing about three hundred acres, and known as the James Bush place; also all that tract of land wherein we reside, reserving the homestead allowed by law, suppose to contain about four hundred acres, be the same more or less.
Paulina Thomas, wife of A. H. Thomas, joins in this mortgage for the purpose of relinquishing her right of dower in and to the mortgaged premises. Witness our hands, the day and date above written.

I, C. B. Hill, Clerk of the County Court of the County and State aforesaid, hereby certify that the foregoing mortgage from A. H. Thomas and wife to W. M. Combs and Chas J. Little, was on the 9th day of December, 1882, produced to me in said County, and acknowledged in due form of law, by A. H. Thomas Sr. and Paulina Thomas, his wife, to be their act and deed for the purpose therein contained and that said mortgage was this day lodged in my office for record, wherefore the same and this certificate have been duly recorded in my office. Given under my hand, this 11th day of December 1882
