Ex-Revenue Agent Is Killed In Beattyville

Irvine, Ky., Feb. 8
John Morgan, former United States Revenue Agent, was shot and killed at Beattyville last night by Charlie Blount, Beattyville Chief of Police, according to reports received here today.  Blount is said to have shot Morgan after being called to the Morgan home to arrest the victim.

One of Morgan's daughters is said to have left home to obtain a marriage license and when Morgan awoke he received the impression that she had run away from him.  He is said to have become angry and is alleged to have shot up his home.

When Blount arrived, Morgan is alleged to have fired at the chief.  After two shots had been fired at him Blount is said to have drawn his gun and fired one shot, the bullet striking Morgan in the abdomen.
