Thursday, 30 March 1950Mrs. Price Eager, 74, mother of Mrs. John Jett of this city, died in a local hospital at 6:30 a. m., Thursday, March 23, 1950. Death resulted from injuries received in a fall at her daughter's home on Fourth Street March 12.
The daughter of Silas and Deborah Simpson Flannery, she was born at Beattyville, KY., April 16, 1875. She was the widow of Price Eager, who preceeded her in death January 12, 1945. She had made her home with her daughter here for the past five years and was well known throughout the city where her warm friendliness and gracious manner endeared her to all who knew her. A memeber of the Christian Church she lived a consecrated Christian life dedicated to those principles in which she believed.
Survivors include another daughter, Mrs. Robert Jameson, Irvine; three grandchildren, Thomas Price Jameson, Cincinnati, O., Patsy and Judy Jett of this city; one great grandson, Stephen Earl Jameson, Madison, Ohio.
Brief funeral services were held at the Jones Funeral Home at 10:00 a. m., Friday by Rev. J. T. Harmon after which the funeral party left for Beattyville where services were conducted at 2:00 p. m., at the Christian Church. Burial was in the Riverview cemetery at Beattyville, under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home.

Thursday, 4 October 1956Funeral services for George T. Edwards, 83, were held at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, September 30, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ruby Peters, at Island City, by Rev. Jim Saylor.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Ellen Edwards; four sons, D. Edwards, Ballard Edwards, both of Cincinnati, O.; Oscar Edwards, Taft; and Willie Edwards, Connersville, Ind.; five daughters, other than Mrs. Peters; Mrs. Grovie Shepherd, Ohio; Mrs. Lillie Banks, Mrs. Ada Moore, Mrs. Ida Parks, all of Indiana, and Mrs. Dovie Bowman of Island City.
Burial was in the family cemetery at Anglin Branch with King Justice Funeral Home in charge.

Thursday, 4 February 1937Beaattyville, 3 Feb. -- Henry Edwards and Miss Mary Adams were instantly killed and Joseph Hughes seriously injured about 2:00 o'clock this morning when the car in which they were riding crashed into a parked truck on the Zachariah road near Mr. Edwards home.
Joseph Hughes about 35, an employee of the State Highway from Shelbyville was returning from Beattyville accompanied by Miss Mary Adams, 20, when their car skidded off the highway in the ditch near Mr. Edwards home about four miles north of town.
Mr. Hughes called Mr. Edwards to get him out, which he did with the aid of a pair of mules. It is said that they were unable to make the proper change to pay Mr. Edwards for his trouble when Mr. Hughes asked him to go with on to Zachariah where they would get change and he would bring him back.
On the way to Zachariah near the Zoe post office they ran into a truck parked on the right side of the road which resulted in the instant death of Hen Edwards and Miss Adams. Mr. Hughes was seriously hurt. The truck belonged to Estill Morgan. A number of people gathered and removed the bodies.
Miss Adams was taken to her home near Bobby's Ridge where her father Jeff Adams lived, and Mr. Edwards brought back to his home and later turned over to Congleton Bros. to be prepared for burial.
Funeral arrangements have not been learned.

Friday, 21 April 1939Hubert B. Edwards, 38, former teacher of this county, died at his home at 842 Ann Street in Newport, Ky., Saturday, March 15. Death was due to pneumonia.
He was a member of Robert Clark Lodge F.&A.M. at Sexton Creek and at the time of his death was employed by the Street Railway Company of Newport.
He is survived by his widow, a daughter, Anna Mae; one son, James, his mother, Mrs. Winnie Edwards; three sisters, Mrs. L. A. Clark, Mason, Ohio; Mrs. Howel Davidson, Taft, Ky., and Mrs. S. B. McQueen, New Trenton, Ind., and three brothers, Finley, John and Lester.
Interment was in Evergreen cemetery at Newport.

Thursday, 18 August 1955Funeral services for John W. Edwards, 83, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 15, at his home at Island City by the Rev. Jim Saylor.
Mr. Edwards was born in Owsley county February 2, 1872 and died at his home Friday, August 12, after an illness of three days. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Charlie and Luther Edwards of Island City; Luke Edwards of Okins, Ohio, and Henry Edwards of Conkling; three daughters, Mrs. Nellie Duff of Booneville, Mrs. Rhoda Duff of Brookville, Ind. and Mrs. Dovey Bowman of Island City; a brother, George Edwards of Taft; a sister, Mrs. Rose Sizemore of Tyner, 54 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the Anglin cemetery with King Justice Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Thursday, 29 December 1955Funeral services for Susan Edwards, 66, were held Dec. 22, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Chapel at Island City by Rev. Park Allen.
Mrs. Edwards was born March 9, 1889 and died Dec. 20, in Marymont Hospital at London, after an illness of 10 days. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Hugh Edwards, three daughters, Mrs. Bessie Grubb, Mrs. Myrtle Scott and Mrs. Geneva Becknell all of Cincinnati, Ohio; five sons, Leonard Edwards of Clay County; Elmer, Green and Paul Edwards all of Island City and Roy Edwards of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Emily Burch of Sturgeon, and one brother, Kash Singleton of Cincinnati, Ohio. Several grandchildren.
Burial was in the family cemetery at Anglin Branch with King Justice Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Thursday, 30 December 1948Mrs. Emma Cole Eicem, 82, died at her home in Beattyville Wednesday night after an illness of several weeks.
Mrs. Eicem was born on Hell Creek in this county, July 3, 1866, the daughter of Bart and Emily Evans Cole. She was the last of a family of seven brothers and two sisters. She was married to Jerry Eicem February 25, 1916. Mr Eicem is her only survivor.
Among many things which made Mrs. Eicem a good neighbor, she was noted for the great variety an excellence of her flower gardens, and the shrubs surrounding her home. She took great pride in these flowers and was eager to share them with her friends. She was a member of the Christian church.
Funeral services will be held in the home Saturday at noon by the Rev. Sam Wilson, and burial will be in the Cole burial ground near Rock Springs.

Thursday, 21 December 1939James Ellis, 74, died at his home in Beattyville at 11 o'clock Monday night, December 18 following an illness of several days. Death was due to pneumonia.
Mr. Ellis, born in Henry County in 1865, came to Lee County in 1885. In 1888 he was married to Miss Louisa Murphy. He was a member of the Christian Church for over 30 years.
Funeral services were conducted at the grave Wednesday by the Rev. George E. Long, Beattyville. Burial was in the Proctor Cemetery.
He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Mary Elizabeth, both of Beattyville.

Thursday, 19 October 1989Elizabeth E. Engstrom, age 81, of Barb City Manor, De Kalb, Ill., formerly of Tullahoma and Knoxville, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1989 at Kishwaukee Hospital.
She was born March 11, 1908 in Beattyville, Ky. She attended schools in Kentucky, including the University of Kentucky. Received a degree in Education from Stetson University. A school teacher and homemaker, she was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church, De Kalb, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. John H. Evans and her husband, Leroy Engstrom.
Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, John and Ann Engstrom, De Kalb, Ill.; grandchildren, Jane Elizabeth and Michael Roy Engstrom, both of De Kalb, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Carl T. Kidd, of Tullahoma; nephews, Carl and Tom Kidd, both of Tullahoma.
Graveside service 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 1989 at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Knoxville. Local arrangements made by Ronan-Moore Mortuary, De Kalb, Ill.

Saturday, 23 & 25 October 1952Hamilton -- Benjmain F. Estep, 71, native of Paintersville, Ky., and a retired painter, died Wednesday at a Hamilton hospital after a chronic illness. He had resided here since coming from Kentucky in 1936.
Funeral services for Benjamin F. Estep were conducted Friday at Dowling Chapel by the Rev. L. L. GrandPre of the Missoula Adventist Church. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery.
Survivors are the widow, Florence Reynolds Estep, here and a brother, Sam Estep, Boonville, Ky. M. L. Reynolds of Hamilton is a brother-in-law.

Friday, 20 September 1963Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon for Mrs. Florence Estep, 82, Hamilton area resident for nearly 30 years, who died Thursday afternoon at a local rest home. Services will be held at the Dowling Chapel at 2 p.m. on Monday.
Florence Reynolds was born Dec. 2, 1880, in Booneville, Ky., and grew up in that community. She married Ben Estep in Booneville in 1910, and the family continued to live there until 1916, when they moved to Mainville, Ohio. They moved to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1925.
In 1934, they came to the valley and settled on a small place west of Hamilton. In 1946 they moved to town. Mr. Estep preceded her in death about eight years ago, and she entered the local rest home in 1959.
Survivors include two brothers and a sister living in Hamilton -- Mrs. Josephine Reynolds and Will and Charley Reynolds. Also surviving are another sister, Mrs. Grace Marshall, Loveland, Ohio; another brother, John Reynolds, Mainville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Estep was a member of the Seventhy Day Adventist Church here.

Friday, 17 March 1939Mr. Wayne Estepp, age 46, died at his home Friday, March 10.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the Booneville Presbyterian church by the Rev. Albert C. Wildman. Burial followed at Turin.
He was a veteran of the World War, having enlisted after serving in Company I of the State Militia under Ike Wilder. Although he moved away from this city in 1922 he was well remembered by his many friends.
Survivors include: three brothers, Sam, of Booneville; Hobard, Newport, and Ben, of Montana; and one sister, Mrs. Simon Frost, Detroit, Mich.

She was born July 25, 1934, in Lee County, Ky., to Cleveland and Mary Jane Newton Terry.
She married Lesley Estes Sr. and was a housewife.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Carol Rose of Centerville and Debbie Estes of Beattyville, Ky.; two sons, Herman Estes of Columbia, S.C., and Lesley Estes, Jr. of Beattyville, Ky.; her parents of Beattyville; three brothers, Chester Terry of Richmond, Bradley Terry of Beattyville, Ky., and Willie Terry of Irvine, Ky.; six sisters, Cora Collins, Callie Bailey and Emma Messer, all of Richmond, and Alice Reece, Ann Wilson and Norma Mosley, all of Beattyville, Ky.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Service was Tuesday at Newnam Funeral Home Chapel, Beattyville, Ky., with James Overbee officiating. Burial was at Brandenburg-Quillen Cemetery, Heidelberg.

Thursday, 10 March 1955Esther Gabbard Estes, 97, widow of George Estes, died Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Larkin Stamper, after five weeks illness.
She was the daughter of the late William and Lucinda Gabbard, and a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Larkin Stamper, Vada; Mrs. Eliza Spicer, Fillmore, and Mrs. Malveria Spicer, Hillsboro, Ohio; and 88 grandchildren, one brother, Arch Gabbard, of Fillmore, and one sister, Lizzy Fletcher of Mary, Kentucky.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the home, by Rev. F. M. Deaton and burial was in the Stamper Cemetery.

Thursday, 11 January 1951Funeral services for Mrs. Taulbee Estes, 47, were held Wednesday, Jan. 3, in the First Church of God at Yellow Rock. Services were conducted by Rev. George Anderson of Mt. Vernon, and assisted by Rev. Simon Robinson, pastor of the Yellow Rock Church.
Mrs. Estes, daughter of the late Jerry Rader and Florinda Rader was sborn near Yellow Rock, March 14, 1903 and died Saturday, Dec. 30, at General hospital in Cincinnati after an illness of three months.
Mrs. Estes is survived by her husband Taulbee Estes, six sons, Vernon, Herman, Taulbee Jr., Jerry and Bobbie, all of Cincinnati. Eight daughters, Mrs. Clmon Profitt of Cincinnati, Mrs. Ray Groven of Covington, Mrs. Johnie Wieller, of Cincinnati, Gladys, Katherine, Shirley, Sue and Janice Lee all of Cincinnati.
She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Florinda Rader of Yellow Rock, five sisters, Mrs. Arch Cornett, Mrs. Otto Newnam, Mrs. Charles Lansaw all of Cincinnati, Mrs. Fletcher Baird of Elizabethtown, and Mrs. Oliver Newnam of Yellow Rock; two brothers, George and Emory Rader of Cincinnati.
Burial was in the Beatty Place cemetery.

Friday, 6 April 1951Little Ronald Freddy Estes, 14-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Estes, died at the home of his parents on March 23. He was born December 26 1949.
In addition to his parents, survivors include one brother, Jimmie, two sisters, Marie and Jeraldine, and the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Arvin, and a host of other relatives.
Funeral servcies were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Arvin with the Rev. Simeon Robinson in charge, assisted by Connie Sperrow, Rebecca Farmer and Irene Ratliff, who rendered the song service.

Thursday, 25 August 1977Mrs. Gilley Ann Estes of Route 1, Beattyville, died Saturday, August 20, in her home. Mrs. Estes, 84, was the wife of Green Estes.
Funeral services were held at Pine Crest Church of God, at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 22. Burial followed in the Beatty Place after the ceremony with Rev. Simon Robinson officiating.

Thursday, 12 April 1956Funeral services for Levi Estes, 87, were held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 6, at the Heidelberg Baptist Church by the Rev. George Botner.
Mr. Estes, the son of the late Asberry and Isabelle Newton Estes was born in Lee County, February 25, 1869 and died at his home at Heidelberg, Wednesday, April 4.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Heidelberg Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Griffin Estes, two sons, A. W. Estes of Cincinnati, and Grant Lee Estes of Wilmore; nine daughters, Mrs. Dona Alcorn and Mrs. Lucy Guy, both of Nicholasville; Mrs. Mamie Rooks of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Reva Hall of Big Stone Gap, Va., Mrs. Julia Murphy of Ravenna, Mrs. Flora Combs of Levi, Mrs. Ethel Stamper of Old Landing, Mrs. Mary Lynch of Cincinnati, Ohio and Mrs. Maefre Kaiser of Evanston, Wyoming.
Burial was in the Addison Cemetery near Heidelberg with Congleton Brothers Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Friday, 16 December 1938Mrs. Margaret Mays Estes, age 73, died at her home at Idamay, Saturday, December 10. Death was due to a paralytic stroke.
She was born in Owsley County and was the widow of Berry Estes who died 19 years ago.
Funeral services were conducted at Idamay Monday by the Rev. Luther Newnam. Burial was in the Brandenburg graveyard at Caryton.
Surviving her are three daughters, two sons, 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Friday, 9 September 1938Mrs. Virgil Estes, age 23, died Sunday, September 4, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
She was formerly Mary Kathryn Brandenburg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. T. Brandenburg of Heidelberg, and was united in marriage to Virgil Estes of Idamay on December 24, 1937.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the Heidelberg Baptist Church by Rev. Wm. R. Royce assisted by Rev. Bruce Lunsford and Rev. Luther Newnam. Burial followed in the Brandenburg graveyard.
Besides her husband she is survived by her father and mother, three brothers, Sam P., Guy and Lee, one sister, Norma, and her grandmother, Mrs. Mary C.. Brandenburg, all of Heidelberg.

Thursday, 25 March 1937Moses Estes, 78, died at his home near Monica at 10 o'clock Monday night.
Funeral services were held at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning and burial was in the Buck Creech graveyard.
Mr. Estes was a son of Ancil D. and Sarah Newnam Estes, one of the pioneer families of Lee county. He was the third son in a family of eight children, all of whom are now dead. His brothers Mace, John, Nelson, and Berry. Three sisters were Sarah, who married Dock Tincher, and passed away just a few months ago; Louvina, who married Henry Price, and Joanna, who married Jack Mays.
Immediate survivors are his widow, Mrs. Melissa Newnam Estes, and a son, Herman Estes. Nephews, nieces, and cousins are numerous in all sections of the county.

Friday, 25 March 1932Mrs. Patsy Ann McGuire Estes, age 76, died at her home at Mt. Olive Tuesday morning at six o'clock. Cause of death was attributed to an abscess of the brain.
Mrs. Estes is survived by three sons, Shelby, Rowland and Jasper Estes, and two daughters, Mrs. Kelton Ashcraft and Mrs. Addie Shearer, as well as several grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at the Mt. Olive Church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. William Warner in charge. Interment was in the family cemetery near Mt. Olive.

Friday, 6 April 1951Funeral services for Shelby N. Estes will be held Friday, April 6, at the Mt. Olive Christian Church at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Sam Wilson.
Mr. Estes, the son of the late Millard and Patsey Ann McGuire Estes, was born in Lee County on July 12, 1893 and deceased this life at the home of his brother on April 4, 1951. He spent the most of his life in Lee County and served in the Army of the United States for two years.
He leaves to survive him one brother, Roland Estes, and two sisters, Mrs. Addie Shearer and Mrs. Kansas Perdue, all of Beattyville.
Burial will be in the family cemetery near the church with funeral arrangements by Congleton ros. Funeral Home. The body was removed to the home of Mr. Roland Estes late Thursday.

Thursday, 4 August 1966Mrs. Allie Evans, 75, died Sunday morning at the Central Baptist hospital, Lexington, after a long illness.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors are her husband, the Rev. Charlie Evans; two sons, Herschel and Narman Evans, Hamilton, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Ophelia McGuire, St. Helens; two sisters, Mrs. Tolby Underwood, Beattyville; and Mrs. Chester Roach, Hamilton, Ohio.
Services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Newnam Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Basil Overton. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery by Newnam Funeral Home.

Friday, 20 April 1934Primrose, April 17 - Mrs. Carlie Cockerham Evans, 37 years of age, was buried here in the Cockerham burying ground at 3 o'clock this afternoon.
Mrs. Evans died at her home in Proctor at 10 o'clock morning of chronic pulminary tuberculosis after having been confined to her bed for several weeks.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Z. Ball and Rev. J.H. Hieronymus. Congleton Brothers and Garrett were the undertakers.
Mrs. Evans is survived by her husband, S. M. Evans, a daughter, Geraldine; three brothers, Dorsey Cockerham, Zold; Corty Cockerham, Proctor, and John D. Cockerham, Bozeman, Montana; and one sister, Mrs. Sherman Bradley, Williba.
For years following her marriage Mr. and Mrs. Evans lived in Ohio. A few years ago they returned to Lee county and Mr. Evans engaged in the mercantile business at Athol. For the past few months Mrs. Evans lived in Proctor near her brother, Corty.
The funeral was attended by a large crowd of friends and neighbors many of whom had only known her for the few months she spend in her last home. This is but a fitting testimony of the high esteem she had gained amonty her acquaintances.

Thursday, 30 September 1937The four year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Evans of Levi, died in a Richmond hospital about 9 o'clock Saturday morning of injuries sustained late Friday afternoon.
The child ran in front of the Boonevillee-Beattyvillle bus and wass struck by the rear fender according to Clarence E. Tyree, Jr., driver of the Park Line bush, who said the accident was unavoidable.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon and burial was in the home graveyard.
An immemse crowd attended the funeral service, there being nearly a mile of parked cars along the highway.

Thursday, 29 November 1956Funeral services for Grant Evans, 83, were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 23, at his home by the Rev. Charlie Evans.
Mr. Evans, the son of the late Jess and Elizabeth Gordon Evans, was born in Owsley County, February 11, 1873 and died suddenly at his home at Pebworth, on November 21.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Henrietta Evans of Pebworth; three sons, Willie Evans, Walter; Morris and Clyde Evans, both of Pebworth; three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Jones, Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Lula Bernard of Huntington, W. Va. and Mrs. Verdie Cole of Pebworth, and 22 grandchildren.
Burial was in the Pendergrass Cemetery at Levi, with King Justice Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Sunday, 4 February 1945Richmond, Ky., Feb. 3 (Special) - Harve Evans, 85, Richmond, died at 5:30 a.m. today at the Pattie A. Clay Infirmary after several years illness.
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lucinda Hamilton, Richmond, and Mrs. Stonewall Steele, Idamay, Ky.; and a number of nieces and nephews, among whom are Arch and Virgil Hamilton, Charlie and Wilson Brandenburg and J. M. Evans, all of Richmond.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Oldham Roberts, Powell and Duncan funeral home, with Rev. T. W. Beeler, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in the Richmond cemetery.
Pallbearers will be George W. Garrett, J. W. Wilson, Dr. J. A. Mahaffey, Frank Gay, Steve Gabbard, Charlie McCollum and Jim Fallnery.

Thursday, 1 February 1951A heart attack proved fatal last Saturday to Dr. John Harvey Evans, 77, who for more than 50 years had practiced his medical profession among the people of Lee county.
Born December 16, 1873 in Virginia, Dr. Evans was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Hamilton Evans. He moved to Lee county about 60 years ago with his parents and, after completing his medical studies, set up in practice here.
He has been the local physician for the L. & N. Railroad here for about 50 years.
He was a member of the Junior Order and was former member of the Beattyville Kiwanis Club.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 29, at the Episcopel Church here by the Rev. B. H. Hanson, pastor of the church. Interment followed in the Riverview Cemetery with Congleton Bros. in charge.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Roy Engstrom of Knoxville, Tenn., and Mrs. Catherine Kidd of Beattyville; three grandsons; and other relatives.

Thursday, 2 July 1936Levi, July 1 -- Joseph Evans, 86, died at his home here Tuesday morning of heart trouble following an extended illness. Burial will be in the Evans graveyard near the home at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon. The Rev. Luther Newnam, Beattyville, will conduct the service.
Mr. Evans, son of John and Polly Farley Evans, was born in Perry county. He came to Owsley county when a young man and remained here the rest of his life. He had been prominent in the county as a farmer and as a citizen interested in the affairs of Owsley.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Kansas Cole Evans, and 12 children, nine sons and three daughters: Dr. J. H. Evans, Beattyville; Willie, Walter, Harry, Grant, Robert, Joseph, Jr., and Sam, of Levi, Charlie of Paducah; Mrs. Mary Pierson, Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Nellie Stolts, Hazard; and Mrs. Callie Barrett, Booneville.
Funeral arrangements are in charge of Congleton Brothers, Beattyville.

Thursday, 2 February 1922Mrs. Julia Evans, wife of Dr. J. H. Evans, died at Beattyville, January 22 after an illness of one year.
Mrs. Evans will be remembered as Miss Julia McGuire who was a stenographer at the Clay City National Bank twenty years ago.
Mrs. J. C. Patrick, of Stanton, and Mrs. Lillie Tipton, of Spout Spring, are half sisters of Mrs. Evans.

Thursday, 26 July 1956Funeral services for Julia Rose Evans, 89, were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 15, in the Booneville Methodist Church by Rev. J. H. Burton.
Mrs. Evans, the daughter of the late Ezekiel and Synthia Rose was born in Owsley county July, 18, 1866 and died at her home Friday, July 13.
She was a former school teacher and one of the oldest members of the Booneville Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Nettie Rose of Booneville and Mrs. Caudus Rose of Cates Branch, and several nieces and nephews.
Burial was in the Shepherd Cemetery with King Justice Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Thursday, 17 June 1937Louis Evans, 64, descendant of Daniel Boone, was buried in the Henry Smith graveyard Tuesday afternoon following funeral services held at the home in Heidelberg at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Luther Newnam and Rev. W. H. Crofts officiated.
Mr. Evans, a son of William and Jane Newnam Evans, died of a heart ailment Sunday night at 7:45 o'clock. He had been in poor health for more than a year. He was born in what is now the Cressmont community, his mother being a direct descendant of the pioneer Daniel Boone. He was a member of a family of 13 children, six boys and seven girls, 11 of whom survive him.
May 5, 1897, he was married to Miss Kate Smith, a daughter of Breck and Eunice Jones Smith, and is survived by his widow and three children: Mrs. Kate Evans, and Miss Dradie Evans, Heidelberg, Dorsie Evans, of West Virginia, and Mrs. Robert Horn, Seco, Ky. He is also survived by his father, five brothers and six sisters: George, Louisville; Morgan and Walter, Richmond; Clay, Sturgeon and Charlie, Congleton; Mrs. Hiram Begley, Proctor; Mrs. John Terrell, Mrs. Herbert Emrick, Mrs. Ramond Selby of Ohio; Mrs. Chas. Bennett and Mrs. Arby Hensley, Madison county.

Thursday, 27 December 1934Pleasant Grove, Dec. 25 -- Mrs. Minerva McPherson Evans, 69 years old, died at her home December 24th after a long illness.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Christmas day by the Rev. Luther Newnam, pastor of the Beattyville Christian Church assisted by the Rev. Arthur T. Tipton, Beattyville, and the Rev. W. L. Merrin, Levi. Burial was in the family graveyard on the home farm.
Mrs. Evans was a daughter of Steve and Rebecca Jane McPherson and was born in Lee County, Virginia, but came to Kentucky when only seven years old. May 10, 1890, she was married to Jack Evans and had resided on the farm which was the birthplace of her husband to her death. She was a member of the Methodist church having joined that faith in early life.
She is survived by her husband, two sons, Elmer and Fred Evans, Pebworth; and five daughters, Mrs. G. W. Bumgardner, Heidelberg; Mrs. Claude Porter, Beattyville; Mrs. Hargis Brandenburg, Ravenna; Mrs. Steve Wilson, Pebworth; Mrs. C. B. Snowden, Lower Buffalo. Also two brothers, John McPherson, New Point, Ind., Willie McPherson, Owsley county, and four sisters, Mrs. R. D. Hale, Hamilton, Ohio; Mrs. Owen Couch, Hamilton, Ohio; Mrs. Kate Mainous, and Mrs. Josie Kincaid, of Owsley county. There are 24 grandchildren.

Thursday, 28 June 1951Funeral services were conducted last Thursday at the home of Mrs. Dora Smith, Congleton, for Mrs. Myra Judd Evans, who died at her home at Bedford, Ky., Tuesday, June 19. She was 70 years of age and a member of the Christian Church.
Born in Owsley county, Mrs. Evans was the wife of George Evans and the mother of nine children including eight daughters and one son.
Mrs. Evans is survived by seven daughters including Mrs. Dewey Jackson, Utica, Ky.; Mrs. Dora Smith, Beattyville; Mrs. Fred Smith, Beattyvill; Mrs. Addie Mae Deaton, Louisville, Ky.; Mrs. Russel Durbin, Bedford, Ky.; Mrs. Hugh Crawford, Louisville, Ky. and Mrs. Harlan Andrews, Bedford, Ky. The surviving son is Clayton Evans, Bedford, Ky.
Other survivors incude two sisters; Mrs. Dora Spence, Pebworth, and Mrs. CleoMahan, Mansfield, Ohio; thre brothers, Sam Judd, Clarksville, Ohio; Arch Judd, Metamora, Indiana and Edd Judd, Levi, Ky.
Mrs. Evans is also survived by 32 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Bro. John A. Hatcher, pastor of the Beattyville Baptist Church, was in charge of the funeral and burial servics with Congleton Bros. in charge of arragements.
Burial was in the Smith Cemetery near Congleton.

Thursday, 17 September 1936Lower Buffalo, Sept. 15 -- Mrs. Sarah M. Evans, 87, wife of Williams Evans, died at her home at 4 o'clock this afternoon.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 o'clock and burial will be in the Venable graveyard at Vincent, the Rev. Geo. Botner will conduct the service.
Mrs. Evans was a daughter of Leroy and Rachel McQueen Venable and was born in Lee county, Va., Jan. 16, 1850.
She is survived by her second husband, three sons and three daughters: John Newnam, Vincent; Grant Newnam, Berea; Everett Newnam, Vincent; Mrs. Melissa Bowman, South Lebanon, Ohio; Mrs. Robert Spicer, Lower Buffalo, and Mrs. Susie Newnam, Vincent. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Thursday, 20 April 1939William Evans, 87, died in Summersville, Ohio, Friday, April 14.
The body was returned to this county and funeral services were conducted Sunday by the Rev. George Botner. Interment was in ithe Combs cemetery near Pebworth.
He is survived by five sons: George, LaGrange, Morgan and Walter, of Madison county, Clay and Charlie of Lee county; and five daughters: Mrs. John Terrill, Mrs. Hubert Emrick, Mrs. Raymond Selby, Mrs. Charlie Bennett, all of Ohio and Mrs. Arbie Hensley of Madison county. Other survivers include 66 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held today in Irvine.

Thursday, 30 March 1967Mrs. Mary J. Eversole, 89, died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, March 18 at her home at Jacskon after a year's illness.
She was a retired school teacher, a member of the Presbyterian Church and a native of Lee County.
Survivors are two sons, Dr. Wilburn Eversole, Terre Haute, Ind.; and Homer Eversole, Lexington; a daughter, Mrs. J. W. Hoge, Frankfort; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Warland, Rochester, Mich.; and Mrs. Lillie Johnson, Auburn Heights; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted Monday, March 20 at 10 a.m. at the Guerrant Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Owen Collins. Burial was in the Marcum Heights Cemetery.

Tuesday, 14 January 1936Richmond, Ky., Jan. 13 - A 20-mile ride by boat and an hour's automobile journey failed to save the life of a ten-year-old Owsley county girl who died this morning at the Pattie A. Clay infirmary.
Tomm Eversole, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Eversole, died at 10 o'clock this morning after an operation for ruptured appendix. She was brought from her home yesterday, traveling the first 20 miles in a flat boat, and then being put into a car at Booneville, where the boat landed.
She is survived by her parents; one brother, Harry Eversole, of Owsley county, and two sisters, Frannie Eversole, of Owsley county, and Mrs. Robert Allen, of Hamilton, Ohio.
The body will be taken to her home near Conkling today, and funeral services will be held there Wednesday.
