Thursday, 22 July 1948Miss Callie Dona Quillen, 81, died Monday morning at 2 o'clock, following an illness of several weeks.
She was born in Heidelberg December 6, 1867, the daughter of Charlie A. and Delina Brandenburg Quillen. Her father came to Heidelberg community from Virginia and her mother was a member of the pioneer Brandenburg family which settled that part of Lee county before the Civil War.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. John Chambers and burial was in the family cemetery.
Miss Quillen was a charter member of the Heidelberg Baptist Church and was prominently indentified in its work since the first service.
She is survived by four brothers and one sister: Nin M., Harlan, Chester, Shelly, and Miss Mary Quillen, all of Heidelberg.

Tuesday, 19 December 1961Beattyville, Dec. 18 - Chester A. Quillen, 80, died at his home at Heidelberg this afternoon after a long illness. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Heidelberg Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother, S. W. Quillen, Heidelberg; a sister, Miss Mary Quillen, Heidelberg; two nieces and four nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m Wednesday at the Heidelberg Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Old Brandenburg Cemetery. Friends may call at the Newnam Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Thursday, 24 September 1936Mrs. Delina Brandenburg Quillen, 89, widow of C. A. Quillen, died at her home in Heidelberg at one o'clock Monday afternoon.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock, the Rev. R. L. Brandenburg, Madison county, officiating. Burial was in the Brandenburg graveyard.
Mrs. Quillen, a daughter of John H. and Deborah Bowman Brandenburg, was a charter member of the Heidelberg Baptist church, and had been a regular attendant until age prevented. She was born Tuesday, February 29, 1848 and although nearly 90 years old had only 20 birthdays as the year 1900 was not a leap year.
Her parents were among the early settlers in what is now Lee county and during the war between the states she became the amanuensis for many of the girls in the community whose sweethearts were in the army.
Surviving her are five sons, John, Ninman, Harlan, Chester, and Shellie Quillen, and two daughters, Misses Dona and Mary Quillen, all of Heidelberg.
Active pallbearers were five grandsons, Tom, Roscoe, Rodney, Ray, and Floyd Quillen, and Montgomery Bowman. Honorary pallbearers were nephews, Hargis, Wilson, Matt, Elias, Edgar, Melvin, Chris, Walter, Albert and Ancil Brandenburg.

Thursday, 18 October 1956Funeral services for Harlan Webb Quillen, 80, were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 14, at the Heidelberg Baptist Church by Rev. William R. Royce.
Mr. Quillen, the son of the late Charles A. and Delina Brandenburg Quillen, was born at Heidelberg on August 1, 1876 and died at his home October 11, after an illness of 15 months.
He was a retired merchant and hotel operator at Heidelberg, and a member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mirtie Congleton Quillen, of Heidelberg; three sons, Roscoe Quillen, Heidelberg; Rodney Quillen, Louisville, and Ray Quillen, Middletown, Ohio; two brothers, Chester and Shellie Quillen, both of Heidelberg; and one sister, Mary Quillen, of Heidelberg; and four grandchildren.
Burial was in the Quillen Cemetery with Congleton Brothers Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Zack Stacy, Speed Cole, Albert Updyke, Vernon Price, Breck Price, Lloyd Parsons, Luther Deaton and Rodney Coomer.

Thursday, 27 March 1952Funeral services for Mrs. Malinda Abner Quillen, 79, wife of the lte N. M. Quillen, was held Sunday, March 23, at the Heidelberg Baptist Church with the Rev. John Chambers officiating.
Survivors include one son, Floyd Quillen of Lexington, and two daughters, Mrs. Eva Addison of Heidelberg, and Mrs. Viola Wagoner of Lexington.
Burial was in the Quillen Cemetery near Heidelberg with funeral arrangements by Congleton Bros. Funeral Home.
The pallbearers were Lowell Brandenburg, Virgil Updyke, Rodney Coomer, Ray Quillen, Al Row, and J. W. Clark.

Thursday, 7 September 1950The funeral services for Mrs. Martha Lynch Quillen, 42, were held Monday, Sept. 4, in the Baptist Church at Heidelberg. Services were conducted by Rev. C. E. Keeley of Georgetown.
Mrs. Quillen, the daughter of Mrs. Mary Ann Lynch, was born in Lee County in 1908. She died on Sept. 3, 1950 after a long illness.
Mrs. Quillen is survived by her husband Floyd Quillen, her mother, Mrs. Mary Ann Lynch, two sisters, Mrs. Oma Fox of Heidelberg, Mrs. Okra Combs of Vincent, three brothers, Beford Lynch of Canyon Falls, George Lynch of Cincinnati, and Berlin Lynch of California. Also a host of other relatives and friends.

Thursday, 20 May 1971Miss Mary Deborah Quillen, the daughter of the late C. A. and Delina Quillen, was born in Lee County on March 4, 1879 and deceased this life at Beattyville, KY on May 10, 1971 at the age of 92 years, two months, and six days.
Miss Quillen was a charter member of the Heidelberg Baptist Church, of which she has been a member for 72 years, was intrumental in helping to build the church. She was a graduate of Eastern KY State College (June 13, 1913). Had taught rural schools in Lee and Estill counties, was head of McFadden Elementary school in Fulten County for four years and was principal of Newby High School in Madison County five years. She was an outstanding teacher and an excellent disciplinarian.
Miss Quillen is survived by one brother, S. W. Quillen of Heidelberg, two nieces, Mrs. Eva Addison of Heidelberg, Mrs. Viola Wagner of Lexington, four nephews, Willie Quillen of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Ray Quillen of Louisville, Roscoe Quillen of Heidelberg, Floyd Quillen of Lexington, Ky and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 13, 1971 at the Heidelberg Baptist Church by Rev. John Chambers and Rev. James F. Smith. Burial was in the old John H. Brandenburg Cemetery with Newnam Funeral Home in charge of services.

Thursday, 8 February 1968Mrs. Mirtie Quillen, 80, of Heidelberg, widow of Harlan Quillen, died at 4:45 p.m. Friday in the Smith Personal Care Home after a long illness.
She was a native of Lee County and was a member of the Heidelberg Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons, Roscoe Quillen, Heidelberg, Rodney Quillen, Louisville, and Ray Quillen, Middletown, Ohio; a brother, Enos Congleton, Beattyville; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Moyers, Booneville; and Mrs. Fannie Hall, Irvine; and four grandchildren.
Services were conducted at 1:30 p.m Sunday at the Heidelberg Baptist Church by the Rev. James Smith. Burial was in the Quillen Cemetery by Newnam Funeral Home.

Thursday, 1 February 1951Funeral services for Niniven M. Quillen, 76, were held Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 30, at 2 p.m. in the Heidelberg Baptist Church at Heidelberg. Services were conducted by Rev. William Keeley.
Mr. Quillen, the son of the late C. A. and Delina Brandenburg Quillen, was born Oct. 4, 1874 and died Jan. 28, 1951 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, after an illness of several months.
Mr. Quillen is survived by his wife, Mrs. Milinda A. Quillen; one son, Floyd Quillen of Lexington, and two daughters, Mrs. Russell Wagoner of Lexington and Mrs. Millard Addison of Heidelberg. Three brothers, C. A. Quillen, H. W. Quillen and S. W. Quillen all of Heidelberg, one sister Mary Quillen, also of Heidelberg, and a host of other relatives and friends survive.
Burial was in the Quillen cemetery near Heidelberg with Congleton Bros. in charge.

Thursday, 8 July 1976Mrs. Oda Quillen, 60, died at 7:00 a.m. Sunday, July 4th at her home at Heidelberg.
She was a member of the Christian Church and a native of Lee County.
She is survived by her husband, Roscoe Quillen; one daughter, Mrs. Nancy Combs, Winchester; her mother, Mrs. Lula Tincher, Beattyville; two brothers, Raymond Tincher, Winchester, Ohio, and William Tincher, Beattyville.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 6th at the Heidelberg Baptist Church with the Rev. James Smith officiating. Burial in the Quillen Cemetery by Newnam Funeral Home.

Thursday, 10 September 1998Roscoe Price Quillen, age 89, of Beattyville, KY, died Saturday, September 5, 1998, at the Middle River Medical Center in Jackson, KY.
Born June 9, 1909, he was the son of the late Harlan Quillen and Mirtie Congleton and was a farmer. The husband of Ann Smith, he was a member of the Heidelberg Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ann Smith Quillen, Beattyville, KY; one daughter and her husband, Mrs. Nancy (Johnny) Combs, of Beattyville; one grandson, Gregory Ryan Combs, Richmond, KY.
Funeral services were Monday, September 7, 1998 at 1 p.m. at the Newnam Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Overbee. Burial followed in the Brandenburg-Quillen Cemetery located in Heidelberg, Ky. Newnam Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Thursday, 29 March 1973Shellie W. Quillen, Heidelberg, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, March 22 at the Lee Co. Personal Care Home.
He was a retired farmer and merchant, a native of Lee County and a member of the Heidelberg Baptist Church.
He is survived by two nieces, Mrs. Eva Addison, Heidelberg and Mrs. Viola Wagoner, Lexington; four nephews, Willie Quillen, Fort Wayne, Ind.; Ray Quillen, Louisville; Roscoe Quillen, Heidelberg; and Floyd Quillen, Lexington.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 25th at the Heidelberg Baptist Church, Rev. James Smith officiated. Burial was in the old Brandenburg Cemetery with Newnam Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
