Minerva Crawford YORKThe Beattyville Enterprise
Thursday, 1 January 1942Mrs. Minerva York, 64, wife of William York of Proctor, died in the Eastern State Hospital Wednesday, December 24 of pulmonary tuberculosis.
Services were conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, December 28, at the home by Rev. Luther Newnam. Interment was in the Proctor Cemetery.
Mrs. York was born March 2, 1877 in Wolfe County, the daughter of Hoye and Arena Crawford. She was reared in Owsley County and lived there until the family moved to Proctor last year.
Surviving Mrs. York are her husband, Wm. York; two sons, Claude of Benton, Illinois and Frank of Lexington, Ky.; three daughters, Miss Ruth York, Winnetka, Ill., Miss Mae York, Chicago, Ill., and Miss Florence York, Proctor and several grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were made by Congleton Bros.

Thursday, 18 March 1943Robert Lee York, 73, died at his home on Upper Creek near Beattyville at 4:15 o'clock Friday, March 12. Death climaxed an illness of several months.
Funeral services were conducted at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Beattyville at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon by Rev. Geo. E. Long. Burial followed in Riverview Cemetery.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Cille York; one son, E. J., and two daughters, Mrs. Irene Noble and Mrs. Jesse Moore.

Thursday, 27 May 1943Alvin Young, 23, of Yellow Rock died Tuesday at his home of injuries sustained in a fall from a truck approximately four years ago.
Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday by Rev. George Anderson. Burial was in the Beatty Place Cemetery.
Survivors include his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Thursday, 22 August 1957Arch Young, 44, died Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Pattie Clay Infirmary at Richmond.
He was a native of Booneville and a member of the Crooked Creek Christian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Grace Taylor, Cincinnati; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Barrett and Mrs. Martha Williams, both of Cincinnati; Mrs. Rachel Southers, Richmond; Mrs. Lucy Smith, Owsley County and Mrs. Ruby Witt, Noland; three brothers, Richard Young, Booneville, Wesley Young, Cincinnati and Charlie Young, Richmond, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the grave in Young Cemetery at Booneville.

Thursday, 27 April 1944Mrs. Gladys Evans Young, 30, wife of Ph. M. 3c Ernest Young, former coach at Lee County High School, died at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, April 26 at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Evans, Irvine Road, Richmond, after a long illness.
Mrs. Young was a graduate of Madison High School and attended Eastern State Teachers College. She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Richmond.
Besides her parents and husband, she is survived by a son, Walter David Young, 2, Richmond; three sisters, Miss Mable Evans and Miss Margaret Evans, both of Richmond, and Mrs. Maurice L. McNeal, Hopkinsville.

Friday, 1 July 1938Mrs. Grace Young, age 24, died at her home in Booneville Wednesday night, June 29, following a brief illness.
Funeral services and burial were held Thursday afternoon.
She is survived by her husband, Wess Young, and two daughters.

Friday, 8 August 1941James Young, who had been in bad health for some time, died at his home at Travelers Rest Monday.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Travelers Rest church by Rev. Ike Gabbard and the Rev. Charles L. Phillips.
Mr. Young is survived by his wife and four children: Mrs. Lula Herd Young, Walker, Joe, and Rudell Young, and Mrs. Waldo McCollum all of Travelers Rest.

Thursday, 27 March 1958Funeral services for Joe Young, 69, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at the Collinsworth Church of God by Rev. Willard J. Armey.
Mr. Young, the son of the late Dave and Mary Jane Wallace Young was born in Lee County March 31, 1889 and died March 22, of a heart attack. He was a member of the Church of God.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Ella Young of Yellow Rock; seven sons, Herbert, David, Earl, Joe Jr., Heirm, all of Yellow Rock and Clyde and Semp both of Valley View; one daughter, Mrs. Martha Angel of Ravenna; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Collins of Irvine; 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Burial was in the Yellow Rock Cemetery with the Newnam Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Saturday, 14 May 1955Lebanon - Mrs. Laura Wade Young, 68, died at 8 p.m. Friday at the East Orchard Nursing home.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Johnson funeral home. Burial will be in Bethany cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Flake Strouth of R.R. 1, Oregonia, Mrs. Henry Walker of Lebanon and Mrs. Jack Fisher of North Madison, Ind.; a son, Robert of Middletown.

Thursday, 7 October 1954Mrs. Lula Young, 81, died at 5:30 p.m. October 1, at her home in Travellers Rest.
She was a member of the Travellers Rest Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include three sons: J. W. Young and Joe H. Young, Hamilton, O.; and Rudell Young, Cincinnati; a daughter; Mrs. Mamie McCollum, Cincinnati; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Travellers Rest Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Robert M. McClure. Burial was in the family cemetery there. The body was removed to the residence from the King Justice Funeral Home.

Friday, 30 October 1964Booneville -- Richard Young, 65, died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home here after a year's illness.
A retired farmer, he was a native of Owsley County and a member of the Baptist Church.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at the residence by the Rev. George Williamson. Burial will be in the family cemetery. The body was returned to the residence from the King Justice and Searcy Funeral Home.

Wednesday, 13 January 1993Roy Young, 67, of Beattyville, Ky., passed away Saturday, January 9, 1993.
Born April 7, 1925, he was the son of Stanley Young and Easther Young and the husband of Josie Thacker. Mr. Young was a retired oil field pumper and a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Josie Thacker, Beattyville, Ky.; three daughters, Mrs. Mavis Lynch Ashcraft, Beattyville, Ky.; Mrs. Lorenda Riley Jewell, Lexington, Ky.; Mrs. Juanita Riley Vanderpool, Lexington, Ky.; one son, Ernie Lee Riley, Beattyville, Ky.; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Thomas, Paris, Ky.; Mrs. Gracie Hamilton, Paris, Ky.; one brother, Cleave Young; 10 grandchildren; host of great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 12, 1993 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newnam Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Louis Becknell officiating. Burial followed in Beatty Place Cemetery, Yellow Rock Road, with the Newnam Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Tuesday, 7 June 1960Beattyville - Mrs. Thelma Allen Young, 36, died at her home at Versailles Sunday. A member of the Church of God, she formerly was a resident of Lee County.
Survivors are her mother, Mrs. Sarah Allen, Yellow Rock; her husband, Roy Young; a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Duncan, and a son, Roger Lee Newton, all of Versailles; five brothers, Bradley Allen, and Homer Allen, both of Richmond, Ind.; Bentley Allen, Alabama; Dailey Allen and Walter Allen, both of Yellow Rock, and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Beatty Place Cemetery in Lee County by the Rev. Simon Robinson. The body was removed to the residence of Mrs. Sarah Allen at Yellow Rock.
