Will of Emily Cornett




In the name of God Amen.  I, Emily CORNETT alias Emily NORMAN, being in a procarious state of health physically, but of sound mind and diposing memory do make and ordain this to be my last Will and testament hereby revoking all others that I may heretofore made.

Item 1st.  It is my will and desire that all of my Just Debts and funeral expenses shall be paid.

2nd.  I will and bequeath every species and description of property of which I may die possessed or be entitled to in any manner in possession or expectancy to my two youngest children F. Creed CORNETT and May Maggie CORNETT to be equally divided between them except what is otherwise directed in Item 3rd hereof.  My reason for not willing anything to my daughter Laura Bel CORNETT is that she is much better provided for than either of them by virtue of a settlement on her or due to her from my husband, Creed CORNETT recorded in the Clerk's office of Lee County Court in Deed book No. 1 page 117.

Item 3rd.  I will and direct that all the growing crop on the farm where I now live and the provisions on hand to be used for the support of my children until my Executor herein after named shall take possession or charge of my estate and my children are dispoed of under order of Court, then if any of the growing crop is left, I will and bequeath all of said residue to my son Scott NORMAN, who has worked faithfully to help to make it.

Item 4th.  It is my will and desire that the care and custody of my daughter Sarah Bel CORNETT shall be offered to her father if he will accept it and give the proper bond in Court for her maintenance and I hereby announce and declare that James F. BLOUNT of Lee County KY is her father.

Item 5th.  It is also my will and desire that the care and custody of my daughter Marry Maggie CORNETT shall be offered to her father if he will accept the same and give the proper bond in Court for her maintenance and I hereby announce and declare that Phillip HAMMAN of Lee County Ky. s her father.

Item 6th.  It is my will and desire that my friend and neighbor Isaac CONGLETON shall be and I hereby nominate and appoint him EXecutor of this my last will and testament.

Item 7th.  It is my will and desire that the Judge of the Lee County Court shall appoint some proper and suitable person to act as guardian for my son F. Creed CORNETT and also my daughter Sarah Bel and Mary Maggie if their fathers hencefore named in items 4 and 5.

Item 8th.  It is my will and desire that the Guardian or Custodians of my children shall have the right and privilege to sell or dispose of any property willed by me to said children and appropriate the proceeds to pay for their proper educations.

An insturment of writing purporting to be the will of Emily CORNETT deceased was this day produced in Court and proved by oath of W. H. TINCHER and J. S. SMALLWOOD the subscribing witnesses thereto:  Whereupon it is ordered that said instrument of writing be and the same is established as the last will and testament of said Emily CORNETT deceased and as such duly admitted to record.
