James Frank Raines, son of Ingram Raines and Susan Smyth, died March 15, 1940, in Lee County, Kentucky. At the time of his death he owned a 250 acre farm on Little Sinking in Lee County, Kentucky, that he, James F. Raines and Canas, his wife, purchased from Jesse Smyth and wife, December 18, 1903, Lee County, Kentucky.
 

August 29, 1939

James F. RAINES leaves to Sara RAINES his wife, one years provisions of all kind that may be on the farm at his death. He also wills to her one cow or $50.00 and all chickens on the farm. Also 1/2 of 1/13 oil and gas royalties that he J. F. RAINES inherited at the death of his son Frank RAINES, as long as she remains his widow and at her death or remarriage the same is to go to his grandson Charles SCROGGINS and is to be held on trust for Charles SCROGGINS until he is 18 years of age. He also wills to Charles SCROGGINS, one feather bed & stead with pillows and quilts and blankets to keep the same warm, also one large trunk.

James F. Raines married his third wife, Sarah Jane Howell, January 14, 1936, Lee County, Kentucky.
Mamie Raines, daughter of James F. Raines and Arkansas Baker / St. John, married Charles Scroggins and they had one son Charles Scroggins. 
James F. Raines and Arkansas Raines, are buried in the Raines cemetery on the above farm in Lee County, Kentucky
