Taft B. Botner, Born 1908 in Travelers Rest died in Cullowhee, North Carolina on September 30th 2000,  Mr. Botner was a retired Dean of Education and Psychology at Western Carolina University, Mr. Botner as a former Owsley Co. teacher who attended Berea College, got his Ba from the Univ. of Kentucky and after WW II. earned his Doctorate degree at U.K. and resumed his teaching career, he had retired in 1975 his wife Malavery (Barker) died around 1990. She was also a Teacher and native of Owsley Co.
