ELLSWORTH, John was born December 7, 1762 at Springfield, MA. He was a private who enlisted at Torrington, Litchfield county, CT and served under Col. Starr and Captains Shubael Griswold and Alexander Catlin. John entered the service
for two months in September, 1779 and again in May of 1780 then for six months; in September 1781 for two more months. He married Ann Biege and (2) Ruth Alling. John received a pension. He died March 6, 1848 and was buried in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Darrowville, Section E, Lot 107, Grave 1. His wives are buried in Maple Grove cemetery in Stow.
