HODDEN, John of Amherst. Col. Ruggles Woodbridge Hampshire County regiment; Reuben Dickinson's company which was one of the first from this vicinity to respond to the Lexington alarm of April 19, 1775 [page 78]. The company marched to Cambridge and was in commission eleven days, although some of its members remained longer in service [page 79]. Capt. Reuben Dickinson's company that was attached to Col. Ruggles Woodbridge's regiment and marched to Ticonderoga. They served from July 1, 1776 to March 1, 1777 and received pay at the rate of one penny per mile and one day's pay for each 20 miles [page 82].
