Ruggles Woodbridge Hampshire County regiment; Reuben Dickinson's company which was one of the first from this vicinity to respond to the Lexington alarm of April 19, 1775 [page 78]. The company marched to Cambridge and was in commission eleven days, although some of its members remained longer in service. Capt. Reuben Dickinson's company that served for three months and eight days, from May 1 [page 79]. This company took part in the battle of Bunker Hill, June 17, but was not in the intrenchments [page 80]. Enlisted in Capt. Aaron Haynes' company in the Canadian campaign on May 1 and died November 22, 1776 [page 83]. Moses Kellogg is listed as leading the company of eight-months' men who served from the outbreak of the war, many of them being "minute men" who afterwards enlisted in the Continental service [page 80]. On expedition that marched for the defense of Bennington, Aug. 17, 1777, under command of Capt. Oliver Smith. KNAPP, Jesse of Dover. He was a prominent citizen of the Springfield Parish during the first year of the Revolutionary War. He was a sergeant in Capt. Ebenezer Battle's company, at the Lexington Alarm, and is said to have been of great assistance to Capt. Battle. At one time he held the command of the company. He was a blacksmith and had his shop on Springdale park. He lived on the Skimmings' place on Main street, which he sold to Silas Bacon in 1791, and moved from town.
