STREETER, Samuel of Plainfield. He was a pioneer settler having come here while the town was a part of Cummington. He was born in Sturbridge, Mass., in 1754. After serving in the war of the Revolution he married Bathsheba Barton of Charlton in 1778, and settled where S. H. Sears now lives. Died Sept. 7, 1844, his wife having deceased six years before. On list of Revolutionary Pensioners, copied "from Dr. Porter's history of Plainfield. It contains the names of those still living in 1833, with the amount drawn annually by each. The amount is believed to have been based on their length of service." $96 received. SUMNER, Thomas was born 2 June 1757, Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard, MA. He married Elizabeth Holland at Brookfield, MA on March 9, 1780. Thomas was a private under Captain Asa Danforth who marched to join General Gates. He served 4 3/4 months. He was in the battle of Saratoga. Thomas came to Akron about 1818.
