DANIEL WELLS, born in Hebron, Tolland, CT 07 Nov. 1754, son of Edmund WELLS and Mary HOWELL [Parish Records Congregational Church and Dept. of the Interior Bureau of Pensions]; died 06 May 1840 Cambridge, Washington, New York age 86 y [Death Notice Washington County New York Newspapers]; married 15 Feb. 1776 HANNAH LOTHROP, born Hebron, Tolland, CT 01 May 1759 of Rev. Elijah and Silance (LENORD) LOTHROP. Daniel Wells was a farmer who enlisted in the War of the Revolution upon learning the news of the Battle of Lexington. In March of 1779 he moved to Cambridge, New York and in that summer was a sergeant in the company commanded by Captain Joseph Wells of the New York militia [Sworn Deposition before the Court in the town of Salem in 1832].
