REV'D DR LOWELL

The Boston Town Records give, Ruth Loring, from Roxbury, died October 10, 1830, ae, 63.--E. W. Return

2It appears by the Records of the First Church in Portland, Maine, that on May 15, 1796, Elizabeth Long owned the Covenant, that on June 23, following, William, Lydia, Joseph, and George Long were baptized, and that on May 9, 1798, Mary Russel Long was baptized. These, probably, were the wife and children of Joseph Long, merchant, of Portland, who, in May, 1797, bought a part of the Falls of Saccarappa (Cumberland Deeds, xxvi. 189). In December, 1798, William Bradbury of New Gloucester sold land in that town to Joseph Long, late of Portland, merchant, now of New York or Philadelphia (Ibid. xxix. 129). See Baptisms, May 1, 1808. The Columbian Centinel of Wednesday, May 11, 1808 (No. 2516), p.2/4, contains an obituary notice of Mr. Long, which states that he "was a stranger in the town," and that he formerly resided in Portland.--E. W. Return
3This entry was doubtless made in 1820 and not in 1819. See Baptisms, July 30, 1820. See also Admissions, October 1, 1820.--E. W. Return
