SZCZEPANIAK posted by Tammy L. Szatkowski on Wednesday, February 14, 2001

I've been told that my great-grandmother was born and/or lived in Alabaster, MI (of Iosco County) at some point during the last 1800s. However, I haven't found any concrete information linking her family to the area. I am eager to find out if any one has a link to this family name. My great-grandmother was named Constantine Szczepaniak and she had a number of siblings, including John, Josephine, Francis, Nellie and Julia. I believe her parents were named Valentine and Katherine.
Any information is appreciated!

BADGERO, BOWERS, EVERINGHAM, WATERHOUSE posted by Kevin Everingham on Saturday, March 31, 2001

Looking for information on my uncle's family (BOWERS) from Iosco, County, MI. Elmer L. Bowers was probably a lumberjack in Iosco and was married to a Mae (BADGERO) and possibly others. Children include Ward Bowers, Bob Bowers, Flora Bowers, Chuck Bowers and possibly a Elmer L. Bowers Jr. (other marriage) His father William BOWERS also worked in the lumber industry and died in a logging accident in 1894.

Any leads on Iosco birth, death, marriage or other records greatly appreciated.

STILWELL posted by Mary Cornell on Thursday, April 12, 2001

I found the name Robert John Stilwell on the Iosco County, Michigan Naturalization Index, 1885 - 1910, on Ancestry.com. I would like to know where to write to get a copy of his petition for naturalization and what is the cost.

Robert Stilwell was my GGrandfather who was born in London, England.

Thank you for any assistance you may be able to give me.

GRIGGS posted by Joy Savagardner on Monday, April 16, 2001

I am trying to find traces of my grandmother, who may have lived in Iosco County in 1924 thru 1930 or longer. Her name is Frances Griggs. I am almost certain she was from PA. Last seen in New Jersey in 1922.

EVERINGHAM posted by Kevin Everingham on Saturday, May 5, 2001

Looking for all information about the Everingham family of Iosco County, MI. My great grandfather's brother "Robert" died at a young age and was buried in Turner, MI,... he was married at the time (1907) and his widow would have been young. A Mrs. Rachel Everingham was married in Iosco on 5-10-1908 at age 24, was this Robert's widow?

I have not seen the marriage record as I am from a Long ways away, but her marriage record is in Iosco County's marriage book 3, page 148. If anyone could look that up for me, I would pay them for their trouble or copy, etc...

BROKENSHIRE, LEONE, MITCHELL, WHEATON posted by Carole Wolfe on Monday, May 7, 2001

I'm hoping I have the right county, hopefully you will know for certain. I have a copy of an obituary from "The Press" from Oscoda and Au Sable, MI date 1905.

Surnames mentioned are: Mitchell, Brokenshire, Leone, Wheaton.

Obituary is for John Charles Mitchell, died 9-18-1905 in Au Sable at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, W.H. Brookshire. John married Miss Hattie Leone, a sister of Dr. Wheaton, of Syracuse, NY in 1875.

It is also mentioned that he is buried in the north Oscoda Cemetary with his parents, a brother, and a sister. I can find no mention of this particular cemetary. Is it possible it is now named differently?

Any information regarding Mitchell or Brokenshire family would be greatly appreciated.
