HAMMOND, POTTER, SILVERTHORN posted by William Silverthorn on Thursday, January 31, 2002

My ancestors spent approximately 15 years in AuSable, Iosco County. They are recorded in the 1900 and 1910 census. The family of William Solon & Eleanor (Potter) Silverthorn, who moved there for the lumber and fishing trade from Huron County. They had three children when they first arrived, Susanna, William David and George Dewey. Their fourth child, Grace, was born in Au Sable.

Their oldest child, Susanna, married George Hammond, circa 1902. They had two sons, Bernard and Earl Hammond, born 1903 and 1910 respectively. I am searching the marriage record of George & Susanna, as well as their untimely death sometime prior to 1920 (perhaps not in Iosco County though). I am also interested in the birth records of their two sons.

Working with the 1900 census, I am making an assumption that the William Hammond family's son George (b. 1881) is the same George that later married Susan. I would like to solidify my research with additional data, from anyone that can assist.

BROWN, COON, LANDON, LEGACY, SPEARS posted by Kayleen Jacques-Pawloski on Friday, February 1, 2002

I am looking for information on William Legacy (b. Sept. 12, 1837 d. December 7, 1929 in East Tawas, MI) (I have his obit), what I need is information about his first wife who was Helen May (Brown) (Coon) Legacy (b. Canada d. 1913 in East Tawas, MI). I need her obit or death info or any showing of her in the census. I haven't found any in my earlier searches. I also would like info about her first husband who was Elias Coon who probably died before she moved to East Tawas with William. William has one son with Helen (Henry Legacy). Mary brought 2 daughters to the marriage, Millie Coon who married a Landon, and Mary May Coon (b. March 12, 1861 Jefferson County, NY, d. June 12, 1935 in Flint, MI) who married Jered Rollins Spears (b. Oct 4, 1854 in Lyons Clinton County, Iowa d. Taymouth Township Saginaw County, MI). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

COUTURE, GREEN, MURPHY posted by K MacDuff on Monday, March 11, 2002

I am looking for information on my great grandmother' family, Her name was Josephine Green. Her parents were James Green and Mary Murphy from Ireland. I have found an entry indexed in the Iosco County marriage books for her and my great grandfather, Benjamin Couture. The marriage date (February 13, 1893) as well as their respective ages would concur with what my grandmother told me. Would anyone know what type of information is contained in these books? Before I send away for it, I would like to know what I can expect to find. Thanks.

CHARLEBOIS posted by David Charlebois on Wednesday, April 24, 2002

Is there someone who can do a lookup in the "Iosco County's Marriage Book 2 (1859 - 1887)"?

There is an entry for two Charlebois marriages. I would like to know what the books say about their marriages. The first is for Joseph Charlebois, book 2, page 37. The second is for Rosanna Charlebois, book 2, page 58.

LITHEN posted by Pat Zankman on Sunday, May 26, 2002

My gr grandparents lived in Iosco county from about 1879 to almost 1900. During the period my gr. grandmother was ill and out of the home (he had a housekeeper but was listed as married). She might have just had a child and was hospitalized and may have died. Where would she have been hospitalized for TB or mental problems? Is there a way I can check? They were Swede Finn, he was a logger. Her name was Marie (or Mary) Lithen and born in Finland. He was Eric Lithen. I am also interested in the birth of a child, named Edward, in about 1885-90. By 1900 he had left Michigan.
