posted by Donna Christian on Sunday, January 8, 1998
Searching for info on BURKE ancestors that settled in Imlay City, MI. Lapeer Co in mid 1800s. Dennis Lawrence BURKE and his wife, Ellen O'Brien BURKE and their son, Lawrence, came to America from Tipperary Ireland. Lawrence married Rachael KELLY, daughter of Michael and Mary KELLY. Their children were: Dennis A., Mary Ellen and Casper. Dennis married Eunice BEECHAM and had five children: Jack, Harold, Gladys, Florence and Hallie. Mary Ellen married Lee Danforth JOHNSON and Casper married Mary Edna PORTER, daugher of Henry and Elizabeth Smith PORTER of Imlay City. Mary Edna had brother, G.W. (Gib), and a sister, Ada. Ada married Joe TAYLOR and they had five daughers: Sadie, Hilda, Lucille, Josephine and Ruth. Sadie may have been a teacher in Imlay City. They lived there until at least 1911. Many of my ancestor are buried in Imlay City (according to bible records). The following are some info: Rachel BURKE died 01/31/1875. Mary Stack KELLY buried in Lapeer. Ellen O'Brien BURKE died in Imlay City. Dennis A. BURKE died Chicago, but death certificate states he is buried in Imlay City. Any help at all, no matter how trival you may believe it is would be very much appriciated. Never been to Michigan so I have no idea where the cemeteries would be, probably a catholic one.

posted by Melinda Anderson on Tuesday, March 17, 1998
I am seeking information about any and all PEASLEEs (also spelled PEASLEY) who lived in Lapeer County in the last half of the 19th century. Luke PEASLEE (b. abt 1800- d. after 1889) emigrated to Lapeer Co. about 1855 from Norwich, Oxford Co., Ontario, as did many members of this large extended family. He married Julia CHURCH, a widow, in 1856. His brother is John W. PEASLEE (b. 1820 Canada- d.1900, Lapeer Co.). I believe his sister may be Patience Peaslee HILLIKER (b. 1815, Canada-d.1898, Michigan), wife of Egbert HILLIKER. Luke's children (from his unknown first wife) are Sarah Ann, Augustus, and possibly Wiliam and Henry. I am especially interested in Luke and Augustus, my direct ancestors, (espec. their death dates), but would like any and all pertinent info (I have census info already). Thanks.
