VOLUNTEERSIn order to bring you the data and records you need to find your ancestors and the history of Shiawassee County, we need volunteers to help us in gathering data, transcribing microfilm, typing data, creating html pages and maintaining these pages. Volunteering need not be a time consuming venture. You can volunteer to do as much or as little as you want. You can do it whenever you have the time. You can volunteer to do any of the following for one hour, one day, one week or what ever you have time and the willingness to do. You may stop at anytime you decide you can no longer be involved. There are literally hundreds and thousands of libraries and LDS Family History Centers, all over the United States that have information about Shiawassee Co.. If you live near one of them, I need your help!!! If you can help out in any of the following areas and would like to give a few hours of your time to promote genealogy online please contact me. Remember, volunteer to do as little or as much as you can but, please volunteer. TOWN HISTORIANS - If you are a history buff and would like to write historical articles about any city, town or village in the county, I need you!! LOOKUP VOLUNTEERS - If you have books about the county, census indexes or records and are willing to do lookups for others, or can do lookups when you are at the library or courthouse, I need you!! CENSUS TRANSCRIBERS If you have access to census records and are willing to transcribe them, I need you!! Check with your local library to see if the census microfilms for Shiawassee Co. are available. There are also many online sites that sell census microfilm and census CDs. If you are interested in this, please contact me for more information. TOMBSTONE TRANSCRIBERS If you live in or near Shiawassee County and are willing to transcribe the information on tombstones, I need you!! COURTHOUSE TRANSCRIBERS If you live in or near Shiawassee County and are willing to go to the courthouse to transcribe vital records, circuit court records or land records, I need you!! GUEST EDITORS - If you have an idea for something about the county you would like to see included, be it stories about your family, businesses of days gone by, famous people or history articles about places in the county or the people who lived here.
