(Pelton) Goodale; educated in public and high schools of Chesaning, Mich., and Albion College, Albion, Mich.; married at Chesaning, Oct. 14, 1894, Lizzie M. Clough. Began teaching school at age of 16; was clerk in store and traveling hardware salesman, 1887-96; entered life insurance business, March, 1896, and was secretary Union Life Insurance Co., Indianapolis, 1898-March, 1902; secretary Missouri State Life Insurance Co., St. Louis, March, 1902-07; has been president Michigan State Life Insurance Co. since June, 1907. GOODALE, George Pomeroy, theatrical critic; born, Orleans, N.Y., Aug. 12, 1843; son of Elijah and Mary Eleanor (Palmer) Goodale; educated in common schools and in newspaper office; married, N. Almont, N.Y., 1864, Josephine Gardner; again, at Ann Arbor, Mich., 1902, Katherine Brigham Moloney. Began active career as a printer in office of Courier, Geneva, N.Y., 1860; was employed on papers in Angelica, Cuba, Belmont, Elmira, N.Y., and by the World, New York City; came to Detroit, 1865, and has since been continuously upon the staff of the Detroit Free Press; reviewer of the drama and writer of a series of weekly articles entitled "The Kaleidoscope," written by him over the nom de plume of Signor Max, and appearing since 1904. President Free Press Printing Co. Was member 141st New York Infantry, mustered out May 17, 1865. Democrat (repudiated Bryan and his teachings, 1896). Recreation: Baseball. Office: Detroit Free Press. GOODENOUGH, Luman Webster, lawyer; born, Ludington, Mich., Jan. 1, 1873; son of Daniel W. and Lodema (Olney) Goodenough; educated in public schools; graduate University of Michigan, B.L., 1896; Law Department, University of Michigan, LL.B., 1898; married, Detroit, March, 1904, Elizabeth Noble. Jenness. Worked on farm until 21 years of age; was in employ of David Preston, banker, Detroit, until Jan. 1, 1884, since which time has been identified with real estate business, first with his brother, John C., under style of Goodrich Bros., and operating as above since death of his brother, 1907. GOODRICH, Joseph Parshall, insurance, loans and real estate; born, Blissfield, Mich., June 26, 1864; son of Nelson Lyman and Clarissa Cornelia (Parshall) Goodrich; graduate West Blissfield (Mich.) High School, 1881; married at Detroit, Nov. 7, 1889, Viella Tuttle. Entered insurance business, December, 1881, with late brother, John C. Goodrich; was with Goodrich Bros., 1884-1901; founded Goodrich Insurance Agency, Jan. 1, 1901, of which has since continued the head. Republican. Baptist. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. GORDON, Charles Edwin; born, Chicago, 1866; son of Henry David and Rozella R. Reedy & Co., Chicago Elevator Works, two years; with Crane Co., Chicago, five years, and Ames & Frost, Chicago, three years; was connected for two years with the Slayton Lyceum Bureau and acted as sales agent for the Whitely Steel Co., Muncie, Ind.; was one of the organizers of the Western Malleable Steel Co., steel castings and drop forgings, in operation since Sept. 5, 1905.
