Giddings (died Sept.26, 1907) Served two years in Civil War as member Second Regiment U.S. Sharp shooters, retiring on account of disability; came to Detroit, 1865; began manufacture of emery wheels in 1872, in a small way and almost without capital; the business was conducted first under his own name and later under name of the Detroit Emery Wheel Co., which was incorporated 1903, and of which he has been president from the beginning. Also director Exchange National Bank; was one of the organizers and president for twelve years of the Central Savings Bank. Vice president board of directors of Harper Hospital.
