HILL, William H., president W. H. Hill com, proprietary medicines; born, Cochocton, N.Y., July 16, 1852; son of John J. (M.D.) and Emeline (Tracy) Hill; attended public school of Kings Ferry, N.Y., until 15; spent two years at Cayuga Lake Academy, near Aurora, N.Y., (now Cayuga Lake Military Academy) and worked for tuition and board while at the academy; at 20, mother, sister and sister's two children came upon his hands for support; took care of them unit he was 35, at which time mother died, sister married, neice remaining with him until she was marrried and nephew then able to take care of himself. Married, Grass Lake, Mich., March 15, 1882, Alice Dwelle. Clerked in dry goods store at Coldwater, Mich., one year; acted as head clerk in chare of dry goods store, at Kalamazoo, Mich., two years; remover to Pittsburgh, PA., and followed drug business as clerk and traveling salesman until 1880, when he began manufacture of proprietary medicines at Gariport, NY., un title of W. H. Hill & Co.; was burned   out, February, 1885; bought out partner's intrest and moved to Detroit, where he continued in business as W. H. Hill Co. until September, 1895, when the firm was incorporated as W. H. Hill company, of which he is president and general manager, now doing business of a half-million dollars a year. He was an extensive  traveler, 1880-92, covering the entire United States while introducing his line of goods. President Ideal  Register and Metallic Furniture Co. and the Detroit Silk Glove Co. Republican. Congregationalist. Clubs: Wayen, Rushmere, (member board of directors of both clubs), Detroit, Golf, Detroit Power Boat Club. HILTON, Francis Andrew, state manager North American Life Assurance Co. of Toronto; born, Perrytown, Ont., Aug. 28, 186; son of Rev. John and Macella (Fowles) Hilton; educated at Upper Canada College, Toronto, and Trinity College Schook, Port Hope, Ont.; married ate Toronto June, 1887, Isobell lGrace, daughter of Lt. Col. W.k I. Lane Milligan. Admitted to bar of Ontario, at Ontario, 1876, and began practive of law at Trenton, Ont., as member of firm of Forbes & Hilton until 1898, when he formed the firm of Hilton & Wood, so continuing until 1902; was appointed district manager for Western New York, for North American Life Assurance Co. of Toronto, with headquarters at Buffalo; has been state manager, Michigan, for same company, since November, 1906. Practicing attorney of Toronto for fourteen years; president Conservative  Association of West Northumberland County two years; was member Fifty-seventh Battalion Peterboro Rangers, rank of lieutenant, for four years. HIMES, Louis William, cou;nty clerk Wayne County: born, Detroit, Oct. 25, 1867; son of Christopher A. and Elizabeth H. (Corns) Himes;educated in public schools of Detroit; married at Detroit, Jan. 21, 1892, Mae Wilford. Began active career as cabin boy on purser Detroit & Cleveland Navigation Co., White Star Line and other transportation companies; was appointed chief deputy sheriff of Wayne County under Henry A. Dickson, in 1900; was elected county clerk on Republican ticket, fall election, 1904; and entered upon the office, Jan. 1, 1905. Republican. Episcopalian. Member Board of Commerce; formerly member Detroit Greys. Mason, member Consistory, Shrine; member B.P.O.E., Knight of Pythias, Hermonie Society, D.O.K.K. Clubs: Concordia, Detroit Wheelmen, Detroit Motor Boat Club, Grosse Pointe Ice Yacht Club. Recreations: Motor boating, outdoor sports. Office: County Bldg. Residence: 55 Rosedale Court.

HINCHMAN, Charles, C; born, Detroit; son of Theodore H. and Louisa (Chapin) Hinchman; educated in public schools of Detroit. Grew up in the durg business, his father having been one of the pioneer druggistsof Detroit; became member of the firm of T. H. Hinchman & Sons; 1873; the title later being changer to T. H. Henchman, Sons & Co.; has been second vice president Williams, Davis, Brooks & Henchman Sons since merger of T.H. Hinchman & Sonss with Williams, Davis & Brooks, 1896; operation under title of the Michigan Drug Co., of which he is second vice president. Office: Congress and Bates Sts. HINCHMAN, Ford Archer; born, Detroit, Aug. 13, 1873; son of Ford De Camp and Mary Louisa (Thompson) Hinchman; educated in public and high schools of Detroit and University of Michigan; married at Detroit, Nov. 11, 1897, Clara Murry Williams. Has been connected with various business intreests in Detroit, Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor & Jackson Ry.; since Feb. 1, 1906, has been secretary-treasure and director Anderson Forge and Machine Co., Clubs: Country, University. HINCHMAN, John M.; born, Detroit, 1845; son of Theodore H. and Louisa (Chapin) Hinchman; educated in public schools of detroit and University of Michigan. Became partner in drug business with his father as T. H. Hinchman & Son, 1868; the name being changed to T.H. Hinchman & Sons, 1873; and T.H. Hinchman and Son's Co., in 1895; merged with Williams, Davis & Brooks, 1896, under the title of Williams, Davis, Brooks & Hinchman Sons, of which he is treasurer and auditor; also treasurer and auditor of Michigan Drug Co. Member of Board of Commerce, member of Sigma Phi. Clubs: Detroit, Country. Office: Congress and Bates Sts. Residence: The Pasadena.

HINCHMAN, Theodore Henry, Jr., consulting engineer; born, Detroit June 24, 1869; son of John Marshall and Ella Kate (Cropsey) Hinchman; educated at Wilkins' School (grammar), 1878-1883; Detroit High School, graduating, 1887; B.A., University of Michigan, 1891; B.S. 1893; married, Port Huron, Mich., Oct. 24, 1895, Emma McAllen Ballentine. Assistant to Prof. M.E. Cooley, University of Michigan, 1893-94; assistant to Jesse M. Smith, Detroit, 1894; member of firms of Field & Hinchman, 1894-1903, Field, Hinchman & Grylls, architects and engineers, since 1906. Chief machinist U.S. Navy, U.S.S. Yosemite, April to August, 1898; member Public Lighting Comission, Detroit, since April 1905. Republican. Presbyterian. Was house physician Haper Hospital, 1899-1900; director Harper Hospital polyclinc, 1904-06; appointed clinical professor of practology Detroit College of Medicine, 1905; also attending proctologist Harper Hospital, 1906; member board of directors and gynecologist German Polyclinic Grace Hospital since 1906. HITCHCOCK, Charles Wellman, physician and surgeon; born, Kalamazoo, Mich., July 26, 1858; son of Homer Owen and Fidelia (Wellman) Hitchcock; graduate Kalamazoo High School, 1876; M.A., University of Michigan, 1880; Detroit Medical College, M.D., 1885; has pursued post-graduate studies at various times in New York City, London and Paris; married, Detroit, Dec. 24, 1891, Mary Euncie Ingersoll. Began practicing in Pontiac, 1885, removed to Detroit, 1887; attending neurologist to Harper Hospital; adjunct professor of nervous diseases, Detroit College of Medicine; practice confined largely to nervous and mental diseases.
