HUNT, Ormond F., lawyer; born, Saranac, Mich., Sept. 4, 1856; son of Herman and Elizabeth (English) Hunt; A.B., University of Michigan, 1881; LL.B., Law Department, University of Michigan, 1882; married at Detroit, June 14, 1899, Caroline Bloom. Began practice of law at Detroit, 1883, as member of firm of  Griffing, Warner & Hunt, continuing until 1893l assistant prosecuting attorney, 1893-1901; prosecuting attorney Wayne County six years, 1901-07. Republican. Member Beta Theta Pi college fraternity, Detroit Board of Commerce. Mason (32*); member Detroit Commandery No. 1 and Moslem Temple, Mystic Shrine. Club: Detroit. HUNT, Wellington Quelos, real estate and insurance; born, Detroit, Aug. 31, 1860, son of George  Wellington and Louise C. (Quelos) Hunt; educated in Detroit public and high schools, graduating from Detroit High School, 1879; married at Detroit, Nov. 21, 1888 Mable T. Loud. Began in real estate and insurance business, 1881, and has since continued in same lines. Democrat. Clubs: Detroit, Detroit Boat. Recreations: Boating, hunting and fishing. Office 523 Hammond Bldg. Residence: 1023 Jefferson Av.

HUNT, Wetmore; born, Detroit; son of Cleaveland and Helen (Wetmore) Hunt; educated in public and high schools fo Detroit, graduating, 1878; Ph. B., University of Michigan, 1881; married at Detroit, June 1886, Isobel Kerr Muir. Entered service of Detroit, Mackinac & Marquette R. R., 1882, and has been director and assistant land commissioner of the road since 1890. Democrat. Presbyterian. Member Delta Kappa Epsilon. Clubs: Country, Detroit Boat, University. HUNTER, Joseph H.; born, Pittsburg, PA, Nov. 23, 1867; son of John F. and Mary A. (Fedder) Hunter; educated in public schools of Pittsburg, and at Western University; married at Pittsburg, Nov. 19, 1893, Sarah P. Ford. Began active career as electircian in employ of the Allegheny County Light Co., in charge of electirc testing; manager Pittsburg Light Co., which was merged with Allegheny County Light Co.; resigned to accept position as superintendent fo the Ferrous Chemical Co., later associating for about two years with Dr. J. A. Koch in experimental work; engineer of way, Pittsburg & Allegheny Telephone Co.; acted as vice president and general manager National Cable Wire Co. until the company went into hands of receiver; was appointed by the court as receiver of the company and still continues; assisted in organizing and incorporation the Detroit Insulated Wire Co., 1906; director of Gogebic Iron Syndicate of Wisconsin; administrator of the late Henry P. Ford, Pittsburg. Republican. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Mason. Club: Detroit. Recreation: Amateur photography. Office: Detroit Insulated Wire Co. Residence: 3087 Grand Blvd.

HUNTER, Thomas. Began active career at Indianapolis, Ind., 1873, in employ of the merchandising house now know as the Pettis Dry Goods Co., working in a minor position; came to Detroit and in 1892 assisted in organization of Gleen & Hunter, dry goods, which became Hunter, Glenn & Hunter the year following, and in 1899 was changed to Hunter & Hunter. Also member of firm of Hunter & Tripp, Syracuse, NY., and A.S. & T. Hunter, Utica, N.Y. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Office 177-181 Woodward Av. Residence: 57 Eliot St.

HUNTER, W. Egerton N., architect; born, Hamilton, Ont., Can., Feb. 16, 1868; son of William and Dina (Sutton) Hunter; educated in Hamilton (Ont.) Collegiate Institute; married at Dundas, Ont., 1893, Elizabeth Alice Kay. Came to Detroit, 1891; have been engaged in profession as architect since 1897; Mason. Recreations: Outdoor and atheltic diversions. Office: 1225-1226 Chamber of Commerce. Residence: 190 Blaine Av.

HUPP, Charles J., industrial agent Michigan Central Ry.; born, Salem, Va., July 18, 1848; son of Abram and Collumbia (Huff) Hupp; educated at Roanoke College, Salem; married at Detroit, Mich., June 26,1907, Miss Emma Sly. Began active career as ticket agent Pittsburg, Fort Wayne & Chicago Ry. at Plymouth, Ind., 1866, continuing until 1867; was cashier freight office same road at Plymouth, 1867-70; station ageent Grand Rapids & Indiana Ry., at Kalamazoo, Mich., 1870-76; general agent Michigan Central Ry., at Grand Rapids, 1876-84, assistant general freight agent, at Detroit, 1884-07, and promoted to industrial agent of same road, May 1, 1907. Office: 1220 Majestic Bldg. Residence: 836 Second Av.

HURD, William F., president W.F. Hurd Coo., manufacturrers and jobbers of sash, doors and interior finish; born, Warsaw, N.Y., Aug. 26, 1851; son of Franklin D. and Anna (Hosiel) Hurd; educated in public schools of Wyoming Co., N.Y.; married at Buffalo, N.Y., 1867, Miss Johanna Lavey. Has been indentified with manufacture of sash, doors and interior finish ever since the beginning of his active career; came to Detroit, 1877; was connected for a number of years with De Man Bros. and John Pigott & Sons, in Delray and Detroit; organized the W.F. Hurd Co., 1898, and has been at the head of the company since time of organization. Democrat as to politics. Episcopalian in church affiliation. Mason. Recreations: Automobiling, shooting and outdoor exercises. Office: 200 Campbell Av. Residence: 546 Cambell Av.

HURST, James T., timber and pine lands; born Syracuse, N.Y., July 28, 1843; son of Samuel and Amanda (Lewis) Hurst; educated in public schools of Wayne Co., Mich., married in Wayne Co., July 5, 1869, Mary A. Lacey. Came to Wayne Co. with parents at age of one year, and engaged in lumber business at the beginning of his active career, continuing for more than forty years; senior member James T. Hurst & Sons, established, , 1897, dealers in timber and pine lands, North and South. Was member State Prison Board,  Ionia, five years; appointed U.S. inspector of customs and deputy U.S. marshal until 1874. Republican. Presbyterian. Member Masonic order (32*), Shriner. Recreation: Reading. Office 1019 Hammond Bldg., Detroit. Residence: Wyandotte, Mich.

HUSEN, Alfred; born, Tannersville, Pa., Sept. 8, 1861; son of William and Eliza Husen; married at Detroit, Mar. 18, 1891, Lottie Dandell. Began in tobacco business as "stripper" for Scotten, Lovett & Co., 1876 at 19 went on the road as traveling salesman, and later was made superintendent of department for manufacture of plug tobacco, the firm being at that time Daniel Scotten & Co., which sold out to the Continental Tobacco Co., 1899, as an independent company, of which has been vice president and  director from time of organization. Republican. Office: Scotten Tobacco Co. Residence 423 Hubbard Av.

HUTCHINGS, Frank W., secretary National Founders' Association; born, Belle Plaine, Ia., July 27, 1873; son of Gideon and Mary Augusta (Dresser) Hutchings; educated in public schools and at   Columbian and Georgetown universities, graduating from the latter, with degrees of LL.B an LL.M; married at Lyons, Mich., Oct. 6, 1897, Eve Manning. After graduation from university, was private  secretary for Hon. Richard C. McCormick, of New York, and later assoricated with the offical stenographers of the House of Representatives, Washington; accepted position at Congressional Library Building and Grounds, subsequently being appointed chief clerk; removed to Detroit, July 1902, and has since acted as secretary National Founders' Association. Republican. Member Detroit Board Commerce. Club Detroit. Recreations: Tennis and automobiling. Office: 915 Hammond Bldg. Residence: Hotel Plaza.

HUTCHINS, Jere Chamberlain, street railway manager; born in Carroll parish, La., Oct. 13, 1853; son of Anthony W. and Mary B. (Chamberlain) Hutchins; moved to Lexington, Mo.; educated in public schools; studied civil engineering; married, 1881, Anna M. Brooks, of Waco, Tex. Began railway service in construction of Missouri, Gulf & Lexington Ry; later construction engineer on Missouri railroads; reporter Waco Tex., Examiner, 1876-81; returned to railroading, serving thirteen years with New Orleans & Pacific, Missouri, Kansas & Texas, Louisville, New Orleans & Texas, Illinois Central Ry. companies; manage Detroit Citizens' Street Ry., 1894, worked for amalgamation of lines; now president and general manager Detroit United Ry., owning, operating and controling about 500 miles of electrical railway. Member American Society Civil Engineers;  director Detroit Chamber of Commerce, Detroit Convention League. Clubs: Detroit, Country, Fellowcraft (Detroit); Metropolitan (New York); Union (Cleveland). HUTCHINSON, William G., physician; born, Detroit, June 23, 1876; son of Edwin B. and Della M. (Gillett) Hutchinson; educated at Deatroit Church Academy and Detroit College of Medicine, degree of M.D., 1897; unmarried. Interne at Harper Hospital, 1897-98; assistant physician staff Eastern Michigan Asylum, 1898-99; interne Children's Free Hospital, 1899-1900; demonstrator of anatomy Detroit College of Medicine; assistant medical director Michigan Mutual Life Insurance Co.; assistant surgeon Michigan State Naval Brigade since 1906. Member Wayne County Medical Society, Michigan State Medical Society, American Medical Association, Nu Sigma Nu. Club: Fellowcraft. Office: 611 Washington Arcade. Residence: 180 Hendrie Av.

HUTTON, George E., born Hartford, Conn., Oct. 5, 1861; son of George and Annie (McGinnis) Hutton; educated in public schools of Detroit and at Patterson's College; married at Detroit, Apr. 23, 1893, Miss Minnie Leaycraft. Came to Detroit, 1867; was engaged in U.S. lighthouse service for seven years, after which he lived upon a farm in Wayne Co., Mich., for eight years; in employ of Amercan Express Co.  at Detroit, three years; became connected with Hannan & Co., real estate, Feb. 1890, was with real estate firm of Adams & Peck for three years and entered business for self, 1895; member of firm of Hutton & Nall since 1904. Member Detroit Board of Education, 1907-11 (instpector Sixth ward); Detroit Board of Commerce. Republican. President Detroit Matineee Club (of Recreation Park). Recreations: Driving and fine horses. Office 1009 Union Trust Bldg. Residence: 643 Brooklyn Av.

HUTTON, Robert; born, Windsor, Ont., Apr. 19, 1846; son of John and Elizabeth (Mason) Hutton; educated in public schools fo Windsor; married at Windsor, Dec. 29, 1870, Margaret Ann Nutson. Worked at tinsmith trade, Windsor, 1861-64; followed same trade Long Island, N.Y., until 1865,   returning to Windsor, where he continued until 1866; removed to St. Joseph, Mo., where he was foreman Charles Schultz & Co., roofing and galvanized cornice works, until 1876; again in Windsor, where he was parnter, with brother, John, stoves, furnaces and plumbing, until 1878; located in Detroit, 1878, and associated with John Leadley as LLeadley & Co., gavanized iron cornices, Mr.  Leadley retiring, 1889, when the firm became Hutton Bros. & Co. Was member volunteer service  Canadian
