MUSSEY, George D.; born, Romeo, Mich., Dec. 2, 1841; son of Dexter and Lydia (Russell) Mussey; educated in public schools of Romeo; married at Romeo, 1862, Amelia A. Chamberlin. Learned watchmaking trade and followed it for five years; became publisher of Romeo Argus, continuing two years; then engaged in drug business in Romeo for nine years; came to Detroit, 1877, as chief deputy U.S. marshal for the eastern district of Michigan, continuing until 1888; appointed by State Board of Fish Commissioners as secretary, March, 1888, and has so continued to present time. MYERS, Frank Simpson; born, Beaver Falls, Pa., June 7, 1882; son of Henry Milton and Ella Dorsey (Miller) Myers; educated in public schools of Beaver Falls, Geneva College, Beaver Falls, and Pennsylvania Military College, Chester, Pa., graduating degree of C.E., June 17, 1903; married at Detroit, Apr. 4, 1906, Eva Mosher Gates. NALL, Edwin B., real estate; born, Detroit, Feb. 27, 1866; son of James and Isabella F. (Beard) Nall; educated in Detroit public and high schools, to 1884; unmarried. Began active career in carpet and furniture business with his father, James Nall, also conducting a real estate branch; entered real estate exclusively with his father under title of James and Edwin B. Nall, real estate, loans and insurance, incorporated, 1906, as the James and Edwin B. Nall Co., of which is secretary and treasurer. Served in Michigan Naval Battalion as seaman U.S.S. Yosemite during Spanish American War, ending 1898. Republican as to politics. Congregationalist in religious views. Member Sons of American Revolution, admitted Nov. 24, 1900, and now junior vice commander United States War Veterans Department of Michigan. Club: Detroit, Boat. Recreation: Boating. NALL, James, real estate; born, Huddersfield, Eng., 1828; son of Rev. James and Ann (Winfield) Nall; came to America with parents early in life and was educated in Canada; married at South Norwalk, Conn., Dec. 18, 1862, Isabella F. Beard. Came to Detroit, 1846; began in dry goods and carpet business, 1851; has been interested in real estate business from the commencement of his career and has engaged in real estate exclusively since 1897; president James and Edwin B. NALL, Louis Algernon, real estate; born, Detroit, Dec. 6, 1873; son of James and Isabella F. (Beard) Nall; educated in Barstow public school and Detroit High School. After leaving school spent seven years in study and practice of horticulture, gaining a practical experience in that line and was admitted as member Detroit Association of American Florists. Is associated with father and brother in real estate business and building of modern homes on vacant property owned by James and Edwin B. Nall Company, of which he is vice president. Republican. NEAL, Thomas; born, Corunna, Ont., Sept. 27, 1858; son of Henry N.. and Mary (Proctor) Neal; educated in public schools of Detroit; married at Detroit, May 14, 1884, Elizabeth M. Davies. Assisted in organizing and incorporating the Acme White lead and Color Works, 1884, and has been secretary and general manager since time of organization. NEILL, James Renwick, lawyer; born in Oakland Co., Mich., Mar. 7, 1875; son of Alexander and Margaret (McBride) Neill; educated in district schools of Oakland Co., Detroit Business University and Detroit College of Law, degree of LL.B., 1899; married at new York City, Miss Mary E. Fox. Lived on farm until 1894, when he came to Detroit; in 1897 became connected with law office of Charles W. Casgrain and became member of firm of Brown & Neill, 1899; has practiced alone since 1903. Treasurer Frazer Paint Co., New York. NELSON, Edwin Horatio, president Nelson, Baker & Co., manufacturing pharmacists; born, Brighton, Ont., June 27, 1856; son of John and Eliza Bayley (Thayer) Nelson; educated in Brighton grammar school; Belleville Commercial College, graduating, 1875; Ontario College of Pharmacy, graduating, degree of Ph.C., 1878; married at Rochester, N.Y., Apr. 29, 1884, Anna Louise Gilkeson. Came to Detroit spring of 1878 and entered employ of Frederick Stearns, retail druggist; next was connected with Frederick Stearns & Co., manufacturing pharmacists; was elected secretary of the corporation, 1886, and continued until 1890; was one of the organizers and incorporators of Nelson, Baker & Company, 1890, of which has been the head to the present time. Director National Can Co., National Bank of Commerce. Member Detroit Board of Commerce (director and member executive committee). Republican. Episcopalian. NESTER, George, lumber; born in Newaygo Co., Mich., Feb. 12, 1861; son of Thomas and Margaret (Mahon) Nester; educated at University of Notre Dame, Ind.; married at Saginaw, Mich., 1893, Rosemary O’Donnell. Has been identified with the lumber business founded by his father since 1881, and since the death of the latter in 1890, has acted as manager of the estate of Thomas Nester; treasurer and director of Thessalon Lumber Co., of Detroit, and Nesterville, Ont., organized, 1906. NETTING, Conrad John, president The Barton-Netting CO.; born, Germany, Nov. 5, 1868; son of John Conrad and Catherine (Beckle) Netting; came to America, April, 1880; attended public schools at Pontiac, Mich.; married at Detroit, Feb. 18, 1891, Clara Beckbissinger. Worker on farm from 13 to 19; located in Detroit in spring of 1888 and entered employment of P.A. Billings & Co., later Billings & Drew; learned the chandelier business from bottom up; became connected with firm of Barton & McBean, in January, 1896,as owner of one-third interest in chandelier department, and was the "Co." when the firm became F.G. Barton & Co., in 1898; name changed to Barton & Netting, 1902, and to The Barton-Netting Co., Feb. 1, 1905, of which has since been the head, the company being dealers in gas and electric lighting fixtures, mantels tiling and grates. Also president The Barton-Netting Co., Ltd., Windsor, Can., and vice president Detroit Steam Engine Co. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Member First German Baptist Church. NEWBERRY, Truman Handy, assistant secretary of navy, manufacturer; born Detroit, Nov. 5, 1864; son of John S. and Helen Parmelee (Handy) Newberry; educated in schools of Detroit; Michigan Military Academy; Charlier Institute, New York City; Dr. Reed’s School, Lakeville, Conn.; Yale University, graduating, Ph.B., 1885. Married at Brooklyn, Feb. 7, 1888, Harriet Josephine Barnes. Began active career in employ of Detroit, Bay City & Alpena Ry., 1885, and became superintendent of construction, freight and passenger agent, 1887; president 1887, has had charge of father’s estate; has been assistant secretary of navy since 1905. Director Union Trust Co., State Savings Bank, Michigan Telephone Co. (vice president), Parke, Davis & Co., Railway Steel Spring Co., Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co., Detroit Steel Casting Co. (president and treasurer), union Depot and Station Co., Union Elevator Co., Grace Hospital (vice president). One of the organizers of the Michigan State Naval Brigade, serving as landsman, 1895, lieutenant and navigator, 1897-98; commissioned in U.S. Navy as lieutenant (junior grade), May, 1898, and served on U.S.S.
