Waterman (now deceased); again, at Detroit, 1891, Sally H. Lightner. Has practiced in Detroit since 1880. TARSNEY, Timothy E., lawyer; born, Hillsdale Co., Mich., Feb. 4, 1849; son of Timothy and Mary (Murray) Tarsney; educated in district school, Hillsdale Co., Hudson (Mich.) TASKER, William K., superintendent telegraph and chief clerk to general superintendent Pere Marquette R.R.; born, Milwaukee, Wis., No. 17, 1866; son of David and Jennet (Haggart) Tasker; educated in public schools of Saginaw, Mich.; married at Clare, Mich., Feb. 17, 1892, Winifred M. Merrill. Began railway career as messenger at Saginaw, at age of 15, in employ of the Flint & Pere Marquette R.R., now the Pere Marquette Rd.; served consecutively as night operator, day operator, ticket agent, relief agent and train dispatcher until 1903; was chief train dispatcher, 1903-05; superintendent of telegraph and chief clerk to general superintendent, same road, since 1905. TAYLOR, Frank Dwight, dry goods and furnishings; born, Dryden, Mich., June 11, 1842; son of Nathaniel T. and Laura N. (Winchell) Taylor; educated in public schools of Detroit; married, 1st, at Detroit, Feb. 21, 1866, Phebe E. Shourds (now deceased); 2nd, at Detroit, May 27, 1990, Eleonora H. Snover. Began active career as bookkeeper with Farrel & Bro., dry goods, Apr. 5, 1860, the firm being succeeded, 1867, by Newcomb, Endicott & Co., with which he continued until 1880; associated with Mr. J.B. Woolfenden and organized dry goods firm of Taylor, Woolfenden & Com, 1880, later incorporating as The Taylor-Woolfenden Co., of which is first vice president. Also director The Standard Shale Brick Co., and of The Franklin Press. President Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Children. Republican. TAYLOR, Hedley Vicars; born, Kingston, Can., Dec. 12, 1859; son of John B. and Jane (Higginson) Taylor; educated in Dr. Tassies School, Galt, Can., and Trinity College, Port Hope, Can.; married at London, Ont., Oct. 15, 1886, Annie L. Hunt. Began active career in employ of Edward Adams & Co., London, Can., 1882; located in Windsor, Ont., and for five years was partner in firm of Smyth & Taylor, wholesale grocers; came to Detroit and was identified with Moran-Fitzsimmons Co. until 1899, when associated with Mr. McLeish and organized firm of Taylor, McLeish & Co. Chapman. Lived on farm until 1880; worked at printing trade 1880-84; was traveling salesman, 1894-1905; has been manager Detroit branch of the Keystone Foundry since May, 1905. Member board of directors Richmond-Jarvis Auto Co., Grand Rapids. Served nine years in Co. B, and Regiment, Michigan National Guard, retiring with rank of captain. TAYLOR, Thorton A.; born, Prince Edward Co., Ont., Can., July 5, 1867; son of Albro and Lucy (Cole) Taylor; educated in public schools of Canada and at Ontario Business College, Bellville, Ont.; married at Detroit, 1896, Miss Lavilla WIldman. Lived on farm in Canada until 1888, when he located in Detroit; was connected for thirteen years with the Detroit Screw Co.; was one of the organizers of the Peninsular Milled Screw Co., 1902, of which has since been secretary and treasurer. TELPER, Edward; born, Whitby, Ont., Can., June 13, 1850; son of James and Marian Williamson Telfer; educated in public schools of Ontario. Came to Detroit from Canada, 1869, and entered wholesale grocery house of Walter J. Gould & Co.; removed to Grand Rapids, Mich., 1885, and organized the Telfer Spice Co.; returned to Detroit,1892, and became partner of Walter J. Gould & Co.; withdrew, 1898, and in 1899 established the Telfer Coffee Co. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Republican. Presbyterian. Mason. THEISEN, John J.; born, Detroit, Apr. 17, 1880; son of Peter and Mary A. (Bleser) Theisen; educated in parochial schools, St. Joseph’s Commercial College and Detroit Business University; married at Detroit, 1904, Clara L. Reeber. Began active career as messenger United States Savings Bank, advancing to position of head bookkeeper, which he occupied for ten years, 1896-1906; has since been secretary and treasurer of The M.J. THEISEN, Michael J., lumber; born, Detroit, July 1, 1872; son of Peter and Mary A. (Bleser) Theisen; educated in parochial schools and Detroit Business College; married at Detroit, 1897, Ida C. Lehr. Began business career as office boy in employ of C.W. Restrick, lumber merchant, 1887, and became general manager of the company; severed connection with the company, 1900, and organized with F.W. May, the F.W. May Lumber Co.; bought out partner and has since operated alone as M.J. Theisen; also bought out the old West Side Lumber Co., and formed the Central Lumber Co., of which was president until June 1, 1907, when he became owner; founded The M.J. Theisen Co., April, 1905, of which is president. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Catholic. Recreation: Automobiling. Office: 18th and Rose Sts. Residence: 145 Leverett St.

THOMAS, Claudius W., president Roe Stephens Manufacturing Co.; born, Detroit, Oct. 2, 1845; Son of Raphael Thomas and Mary Ann (Meyrick) Thomas; educated in public schools of Detroit; married at Detroit, Aug. 15, 1888, Alice Hanaford. Served in Civil War as private in Ninth Michigan Volunteer Infantry; in general store business at Grand Island, Neb., 1868-79; in grain and banking business in Nebraska, 1880-91; came to Detroit, July, 1891. President Roe Stephens Manufacturing Co., Detroit, manufacturers of valves and fire hydrants, and also president Scott Valve Co., Chicago; director First national Bank, Grand Island, Neb. THOMAS, David E., president National Casualty Co.; born, Cambridge, Mich., June 4, 1853; son of David W. and Selina (Dickenson) Thomas; educated in common and high schools, Saginaw, Mich., and Adrian (Mich.) College; married at Bay City, Mich., May 11,1888, Mrs. Maria A. Van Dusen (nee Empey) Lived on farm and taught school six years until 25; was connected with grocery store at Alpena, Mich., for three years, and engaged in grocery business for self two years; traveled for flour house until 1891, when he began soliciting for casualty insurance; organized the National Protective Society, Bay City, 1894, and became its president and has continued in same position since reorganization as National Casualty Co., 1904. THOMPSON, Edwin L., lumber; born, Crawford Co., Pa., Jan. 17, 1856; son of James E. and Joan (Treadway) Thompson; educated in public schools and Meadville (Pa.) Academy; married at Lapeer, Mich., November, 1868, Julia M. Piper. Began business career by founding lumber firm of Thompson, Rich & Co., Lapeer, Mich., 1866; organized firm of Piper & Thompson, 1875; founded Delta Lumber Co. of Michigan and town of Thompson, Mich., 1880; president Brunswick Lumber Co., Brunswick, Ga., 1882-86; removed to Detroit, 1881; organized Thompson Navigation Co., 1883; formed the Detroit Lumber Co., of which is now president, 1899; organized Addison Apartments Co., 1905, and erected Addison Family Hotel, Woodward and Charlotte Avs., Detroit. Thompson, Frank A., manufacturing chemist; born, Pittsfield, Mich.., Apr. 8, 1863; son of John W. and Zoraida A. (Torrey) Thompson; educated in Ann Arbor (Mich.) High School, and University of Michigan, graduating, degree of Ph.C., 1881; married at Hamilton, Ont., 1892, Miss Mary H. Campbell. Was connected with the Goodyear Drug Co., Ann Arbor, 1881-83; came to Detroit, 1883, and was identified as chemist with Parke, Davis & Co. for fourteen years; organized firm of F.A. Thompson & Co., 1897, incorporated, Mar. 28, 1898, of which is treasurer and manager. Member Michigan state Pharmaceutical Association, Detroit Board of Commerce. republican. Presbyterian. Mason.
