Dear Sir - We were much pleased to have a call on the 3rd inst.
from Gibbs Huntly, his son Charles and grandson Jack. We
generally have a budget of news to exchange, concerning our
friends down east, and of a number who have - like ourselves -
left the old home. Last Sunday, Arthur Huntly came for the
day, and brought his mother for a few days visit. She has
just returned to h er home at royal Oak; we did not lose much
time in talking over times, past, present, and future. Our
lives have been quite closely interwoven, and these meetings
give us great pleasure. I came across an old letter the
other day written by Aunt Letitia Dickie to father and mother.
I enclose a copy; it tells of an experience they had before they
went to California. My Uncle's home was in the sound end
of Bay City and his daughter Ella (Mrs. John Mason) lived at the
north end, so they were some miles apart.
Great changes have taken place since then, and except for the
names of the streets, one could not tell now where the old home
was. We visited there a short time ago, but there was a
feeling of sadness as we thought of the dear ones who used to be
so happy there, gone now - and strangers
all around instead.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs. N. McKay |
