| This book contains the record of the
cemeteries and death reports of Millington Township, Tuscola County,
Michigan. The Millington Cemetery is located on West Main, east of M-15.
For this publication we began with a photocopy of the township cemetery
record books.
Block areas arranged these records. A comparison was made with the burial permits, which exist, from 1948 to the current day. Since the official record usually contained the date of burial and not the Death date an attempt was made to locate death dates. This was done by reading the newspaper, The Millington Herald, from 1919-1920 and 1938-1950 and recording information found in obituaries and family news. The cemeery was then walked and information found on the tombstones recorded. At some time the cemetery records were destroyed by fire. It would appear that the current records were compiled by using information on the burial permits (which no longer exist) and possibly by using information from tombstones of of some of the blocks. No attempt was made to calculate ages at death. We have recorded what was in the official record, what was on the tombstone and in some instances information found in the newspaper. We did correct the spellings of names to reflect what was on the tombstone. An introduction to the death records can be found on page 89. The following symbols were used: An "*" indicates the date is that of
burial and not death. |
