Tuscola County Advertiser,  Feb 1941 -- Believe Caro Man is 100 Years Old.

Evidence brought to light the Rev. William Hutchinson was born in 1841. Family Bible containing Birth Record was blown away in Tornado of 35 years ago. Rev. Wm Hutchinson, Michigan's oldest retired Methodist minister will be 100 years of age Saturday according to his son, W.H. Hutchinson of Caro. In previous stories of the Rev Hutchinson by the Advertiser, his age was placed at two years younger, but an investigation by the son gives pretty good authority that the venerable minister will reach the century mark Saturday. Rev Hutchinson was born at Escott Ont, and was married at Alexander Bay NY, to Christiana Smith. Two Years after the marriage he had come to Ellington, but for a short time after the marriage the couple lived in Bay City where their oldest son W. H. Hutchinson was born. The first home in Ellington was built of logs which Rev Hutchinson cut from timber on the farm. All supplies were brought at Wahjamega from the late W. A. Heartt. Today the trip from the Hutchinson farm home, about six miles northeast of Caro, would require only a few minutes by automobile but in those early days it was a tedious trip by ox team over rudely built corduroy roads. At the age of 35 yrs Mr. Hutchinson received the call to preach. He was affiliated with the former Methodist Protestant, now merged with the Methodist Episcopal to form the Methodist church.
