carocar.jpg (67542 bytes)

This is a picture of a DeDion Routon car purchased from a company in Paris, France, in 1882 by W. J. Moore.  It was the first car in Michigan, and when driven to Detroit by Mr. Moore, was examined with great interest by Henry Ford, who was then experimenting with the manufacture of a car.  In the picture, Mr. Moore is driving the car, and with him in the picture is W. R. Olin, an employee.  Mr. Olin owned and operated a drug store, where the Moore Drug store stands now. (Taken from article below picture)
