| David H. Andrews - David H. Andrews died at the home of his brother in the town of Indian Fields, in February, 1896, of paralysis. He had been a resident of the county since 1852. His wife survives him. They had no children of their own, but had adopted four, all of whom reached their majority and two of whom survive him. He was a man of pronounced views and was for many years an active member of the Methodist Church. |
| Amos A. Barnes - Amos A. Barnes died at Vassar, September 9, 1895, aged 65 years. He had been a resident of the county since 1853. |
| Christopher Callen -
Christopher Callen died by suicide, in the township of Almer, November 8, 1895. He had
been a resident of the county since 1852.

| Mrs. Farley Craw - Mrs. Farley Craw died at Caro, January 19, 1896. She was formerly of White Lake, Oakland County, but had been a resident of Caro since 1866. |
| Alvin A. Frisbie - Alvin A. Frisbie, died at Vassar, of paralysis, August 23, 1895, aged 76 years. |

Mrs. Mary A. Frisbie, wife of Alvin A., died at Vassar, October 8, 1895. Her maiden name
was Mary A. Barnes.

| Mrs. Clarissa Gibbs - Mrs. Clarissa Gibbs, widow of Melvin B. Gibbs, died at Caro, July 27, 1895, aged 72 years. She was born in Steuben County, N. Y., and had been a resident of the county 40 years. |
| Mary Ann Grinnell - Mary Ann Grinnell, of Arbela, formerly from Leeds, England, died December 29, 1895, aged 80 years. She had been a resident of the county 40 years. |
Joshua A. Heath - Joshua A. Heath died at Cheboygan, at the residence of his son, December 2, 1895, aged 76 years. He had been a resident of the county since 1853.

| Alex Hume - Alex Hume, of the township of Juniata, died March 20, 1896, of kidney trouble, aged 64 years. He was born at New Mills, Scotland, and had been a resident of the county since 1858. |
| Chauncey W. Irons - Chauncey W. Irons, of Vassar, died there October 31, 1895, aged 67 years. He had been a resident since 1849, or from the founding of the village. |
| Mrs. Hannah Jewell
Mrs. Hannah Jewell died in March, 1896, at the home of her son, George W. Jewell,
in the town of Watertown, aged 90 years, 9 months, and 1 day. She was born in Willoughby,
Ohio, and was a member of the Church of the Disciples. She had been entirely helpless for
many years from rheumatism.

| Mrs. R. G. Lyon Mrs. R. G. Lyon died at Vassar, February 8, 1896, aged 55 years. Her maiden name was Catherine White, and she was born in Livingston County, Mich., September 11, 1841. |
| John McCloy - John McCloy died in Gilford, March 6, 1896, aged 90 years. He had been a resident of the county for 27 years. |
| George C. Maxwell -
George C. Maxwell died at Vassar, November 24, 1895, of chronic bronchitis. He came from
Lindonville, Orleans County, N. Y., to Vassar in 1852.

| Rev. Charles Blunt Mills - Rev. Charles Blunt Mills died suddenly March 11, 1896, at his home in Mayville while sitting in his chair during the temporary absence of his wife in attendance at their weekly prayer meeting. He was born in York County, Maine, May 5, 1823. He received a good common and high school education, and at an early age he became a minister in the Free Baptist denomination. He was a close student and gave frequent lectures in addition to his regular pastoral work. He removed to Ohio, and from there, in 1856, to Tuscola County, where he bought a farm. He was a State senator in 1869-70 and a representative in 1877 and was judge of probate for Tuscola county eight years. He had been a trustee of Hillsdale college for many years and several years acted as its secretary and treasurer, and was one of the incorporators of the Free Baptist printing house at Dover, N. H. From his close resemblance, both in features and actions to Henry Ward Beecher, he was frequently mistaken for that individual in his earlier days. His address made at Caro in Septmeber, 1895, to the large outdoor gathering of the Tuscola County Sunday School Association will long be remembered and his memory cherished by all present on that occasion. He married Ann M. Morrison in 1851, who survives him. |
| Reuben Palmerton - Reuben Palmerton died in the township of Indian Fields, April 21, 1896, of kidney trouble, aged 55 years. He was a member of the cavalry squad that pursued and captured Jefferson Davis while attempting to escape. Previous to the war he resided at Decatur, Mich. |
| Thomas Rathbone
Thomas Rathbone, of Watrousville, died there March 25, 1896, of paralysis, aged 70
years. A pioneer of the county.

| James Ross - James Ross died in the township of Koylton, Sunday May 24, 1896, by suicide. He was last seen by his son on the morning of his death standing near the grave of his wife, who did about two years before. He was born in Scotland in 1827, and came to America in 1855, residing in Oxford County, Ontario, five years and came to Tuscola County in 1860. He leaves three grown up sons. |
| Mrs. Richard M. Ross - Mrs. Richard M. Ross, nee Mary Kinyon, died at Caro, July 29, 1895, aged 43 years. She was born in Plymouth, Mich., and has been a resident of Tuscola county since 1852. |
| Mrs. Mahala J. Smith
- Mrs. Mahala J. Smith died at Caro, December 2, 1895. She was the widow of Rev. Zenophon
O. Smith, a pioneer Methodist minister, a resident of the county for 40 years.

| Thomas Smith Thomas Smith died in the town of Fremont, August 14, 1895, aged 82 years. He had been a resident of the county 26 years. |
| Wm. H. Valentine - Wm. H. Valentine died at Millington, April 24, 1896. He had been a resident of the county for 30 years and was supervisor of the township of Millington at the time of his death. |
| Wm. N. Varnum - Wm.
N. Varnum died at Vassar, November 16, 1895, of heart failure, aged 69 years. He settled
in Lapeer County in 1844, and had been a resident of Tuscola county 20 years. He was
buried at Metamora, Lapeer County.

| Arthur Visscelius - Arthur Visscelius died at Vassar, December 10, 1895. He was born in Tompkins county, N. Y., November 18, 1838, and had been a resident of Tuscola County since 1857. He was a G. A. R. veteran. |
| Wm. N. Walton - Wm. N. Walton died at Caro, August 1, 1895, aged 40 years. He was born at Northumberland, on Scottish border, March 5, 1855. He had been county clerk four years and at the time of his death was supervisor of the town of Indian Fields. Had been a long time resident of Watrousville. |
| Lucius Wells -
Lucius Wells died in Indian Fields, November 20, 1895, aged 44 years. He had been a
resident there from infancy.
