Anderson - Hi!I am searching for John Anderson and his wife Catherine Hutchins Anderson. Catherine may have died before reaching Tuscola Co., They were in Kingston, Canada in 1848, then they moved to Jefferson Co., NY and then last to Tuscola Co., MI. I don't have an exact date, but I would imagine it to be after 1850. However, do you mind doing a search on your Census indexes and verify this? I know they had 8 or 9 children one of whom was my ggggrandfather Clark Anderson born in 1848 in Kingston Canada. Let me know if you need additional information. Thank you for helping me with this also. I will continue to search for the 1860 and 1870 census.   Peggy Mulski, Sunday, October 6, 1998

O'Connor/Van Guilder - Looking for any information regarding James (W ?) O'CONNOR (born Canada ?) and Hattie VAN GUILDER (born New York ?). I have never found any information regarding this family and only have their names from a coroner's report on the death of my g-uncle, Jeremiah O'CONNOR. It stated that he was born in Cairo/Caro Michigan. His age at death would have placed his birth at about 1885/1886. My G-grandfather, Ira James O'CONNOR is listed on the 1920 Los Angeles, California Federal Census as born in Michigan, as does the information on the police report of his death by a hit and run driver. Both pieces of information given by a wife who does not always tell the truth. On the 1910 Chicago, Cook County, Illinois Federal Census it has his birthplace as Canada about 1882 and that he emigrated to the US in 1885 (from Canada ?). He may have married in Tuscola County about 1905-1907 to Mary GERHARD/GERHART, his first wife. PLEASE, I have spent 15 years looking for any signs of this family and only in the last 6 months moved back in time from 1915 to 1907 that has been documented. Any help at all very welcome. Looking also for other siblings of Jeremiah and Ira James O'Connor. There were believed to have been a set of twins, possibly a Mary and a Leonard and/or Robert. Thanx,  Ley K. Wilbur - Looking for vital data for family of David and Lucinda (CAGWIN) WILBUR. They were known residents of Akron Twp., Tuscola Co. in 1870 and had probably been living in the county for at least six or seven years previously.  Their only daughter, Ambrosia Wilbur, married while the family resided in Ashtabula Co.,OH and remained there. Sons William C. (with his family), Alanson and Job came west with their parents and enlisted for service in the Civil War in two thumb area regiments. William C. Wilbur served in Co. A, 29th MI Volunteer Infantry for the last year of the war. (He was my husband's great-great grandfather.) I am willing to share this with any interested party. The second son, Alanson Wilbur, Co. D, 23rd MI Volunteer Infantry, born circa 1840, was killed at Campbell's Station, TN on 16 November, 1863; his place of burial is unknown. I believe that he died without wife or issue. Job Wilbur, age 25, occupation laborer, is listed with his parents on page 5R of the 1870 Federal Census for Akron Township, Tuscola Co. By October, 1879, he purchased land in section 33 of Custer Twp., Mason Co., MI. His parents died there within two weeks of each other in 1880 and are probably buried in the Custer Cemetery (graves unmarked, records destroyed in fire). Sometime between the date the 1870 census was taken in Akron, Twp., Tuscola Co. and his parent's deaths in Jan./Feb. 1880 at Custer, Job Wilbur married Alma? and fathered three children. He was a veteran of Co. A, 29th MI Volunteer Infantry, but does not appear on the 1890 Veteran's Census for Michigan. He was also not enumerated in the 1900 Federal Census for Michigan. It is possible that he and his family wound up in Idaho; his widow applied for a pension there on 29 January, 1917. I am trying to fill in some rather conspicuous gaps in my research. I would also like to discover if David Wilbur was related to any of the numerous other Wilbur men who were enumerated in the 1870 Tuscola Co. Census. Linda H. Wilbur, Sun., Oct. 6, 1998.
