Coan/Coons - My grandfather, Samuel E. Coanes (b.11/15/1876 d. 8/7/65) lived in Caro in the 1950's. He may also have been born there. His mother Harriet Williams was born in Huron County 3/1861. His brother William Leroy Coan was born in Caro Feb. 28, 1880. There were 8 children born to David and Harriet Coons. By the 1910 census there were only 4 living. H. S. Depew - My name is William Depew III, My Grandfather William Depew Sr. came to Baton Rouge LA via way of Mississippi in the early 1920's. He was a Blacksmith originally from Michigan. I would be curious if there were any relationship between the William Depew referred to in your article and my family. We can track all of the family from My grandfather forward. He married my grand mother who was a widow with the last name of Sheild. They were both from Tuscola area of Michigan. French - James Harvey FRENCH (Jul 5 1852-May 26 1922) died in Gulfport, MS. His obituary listed two sisters, Mrs. Ambrose Haines and Mrs. Robert Smith of Millington, MI. MI marriage records list a Lucy FRENCH m. Robert Smith, Tuscola Co., Dec 7, 1867, and a Minerva FRENCH m. Ambrose Haines, Tuscola Co., Jan 1, 1873. I'm assuming that Lucy and Minerva are the sisters of James Harvey FRENCH. Does anyone have information on Lucy or Minerva or other FRENCH siblings, or on their parents? James A. French, Sat. Girard - Looking for info on Nelson and Adele (Lemay) Girard who moved to Columbia Twp. Tuscola Co. from Flat Rock Wayne Co. MI, around 1877.  Nelson and Adele Girard had children named Adele b.1859, Louis b.1862, Frank b.1865, Paul b.1868, Fred b.1870, Flora b.1872, Ellen b.? and Tuffield (or Tuffil) b.1874. Frank married Lavina Pincumbe (dtr of Henry and Catherine Pincumbe) in Tuscola Co. in 1889, Paul married Margaret Grenya (or Grenier) dtr of Louis Grenya and Louisa Jacobs in Tuscola Co. in 1890, Fred married a woman named Linda, Flora married Charlie R. Weiland (son of Fred Weiland and Rickie Steffin of Colwood) in 1895, Ellen may have married L.Lepratt (or LaPratt).  Louis, Frank, Paul and Fred worked in lumber camps and on the railroad. Hebenton,  Hebbenton, or Hebinton - George HEBENTON and wife Elizabeth (WILSON) Hebenton emigrated about 1876 from Scotland to the Cass City area of Tuscola County. They were married in Scotland 16 Dec. 1852 and brought their five living children: Helen HEBENTON, b. 5 Aug. 1855, Elizabeth HEBENTON, b. 29 Nov. 1856; George HEBENTON, b. 25 Jul. 1859, d. 1907, married Mary Ann BINGLEMAN; Jane HEBENTON, b. 26 Aug. 1861, d. 16 Jul 1933, married Ormond MALLORY; Mary HEBENTON, b. 21 Sep 1863, d. 1927/28, married Phillip SHARRARD. All five were born in Scotland. I am descended from Jane and Ormond MALLORY, and am trying to find what happened to the rest of the family. Information about marriage and death dates, burial locations, names of descendants, or communication with living descendants. Jacobs, Amidon, Avery, Wise, Ash - John C. JACOBS (b. March 1833 in VT.) first married Elsie AMIDON. His second wife was Elsie's sister, Lavinia AMIDON (b. abt. 1842 in Oakland Co.) and she had children from previous marriages by the surnames of AVERY and WISE. John and Elsie did have one or two children together, but it appears that they died young. John and Lavinia had children by the names of Florence, George, Harry, and Byron. Byron JACOBS moved to Calhoun County and Harry JACOBS died young. Any information about this family would be appreciated but I would really like to know what happened to Florence and George, and if Elsie and John had any children that lived to adulthood. Also, it appears that John and Lavinia divorced. Lavinia later married a Mr. Ash. I would like to know Mr. Ash's first name and where they lived and died. Leejdavis, Tuesday, January 26, 1999

Klock - I am looking for Anna Ritter KLOCK wife of Benjamin KLOCK/CLOCK.  Benjamin died in 1869 and is buried in Newton Cemetery near Millington. LaPratt - I am looking for any info on the early LaPratt family in Tuscola, County. Some of the names are Emanuel (Manuel) LaPratt, Antonine LaPratt, Joseph LaPratt, William LaPratt. Legg - I am interested in finding out if anyone has done any research on the LEGG family from Kingston. My father is Harland Legg (SS# 376-12-6372) 9/13/1918-1/7/94. Linklater - John Linklater is beleived to have settled in Watrousville or Goodells in 1854, with wife Ann. The number and names of children are unknown, except for daughter Annie Elizabeth, who was born in Liverpool, Eng. in 1848. She married David Dixon Fish, it is believed in 1865. David D. Fish died in 1886, in Juniata, Mi., and is buried with wife Annie, in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. His occupation was listed as druggist. Any information on the  Linklater or Fish families would be greatly appreciated. I am also looking for the current name of the "Mt Pleasant Cemetery", believed to be in Memphis, MI. Eileen M. Leonard - Tuscola County (Cass City) in 1890. John Leonard and Delphine (Johnson) Leonard, parents of female, Franke Delphine Leonard. She also had at least a brother, John and two other siblings. Leonard - I know that a family member named Franke Delphine (Leonard) Sutton was born in Cass City, Tuscola County in 1891.  She is buried in Caro Cemetery.  Her parents were John Leonard and Delphine (Johnson) Leonard.  They are buried in Colfax Cemetery in Bad Axe, Michigan.   I would like to know more about them--their parents names and birth places.   Does anyone out there have any information?   Please respond to Larry E. Miller - I am seeking additional information on Eleazar ( various spellings ) MILLER and Hannah MILLER ( maiden name unknown ) . This family was listed in the 1850 census of Monroe Co. Mi., with the following children: John, Charles, Elen (?), Dana (George?), and Lydia J. my Grandmother. From the 1860 census of Tuscola Co. Mi. the children listed were: Charles, George (Dana?), Lydia and Phinous. The wife Hannah and the children John and Elen (?) were not listed. This census stated that Eleazar was born in N.H. but in a biographical sketch of Eleazar Miller, it stated that he was a native of Vermont.  In this biographical sketch the children listed were: Mrs Charles Selden of Caro (Elen?) Charles of Kansas, Nelson of Juniata, Dana of Kansas, and my grandmother Mrs Thomas Rutherford of Juniata. One son Lemuel is dead.  It further stated that Eleazar died in the spring of 1861.  This is basically what I have to go on at this time. Any help would be deeply appreciated. Shegitz - Shegitz, Steven (Stefan?) -  I'm looking for info on my grandfather who died 1916 about 2 weeks before my mother was born in Vassar June 1916. He was kicked in the stomach by a horse. The Michigan Archives search drew no results on his death. Were these records kept by counties back then? I think he was an (German) Austrian immigrant as my Grandmother was a Daunaschwabian from Austria named Elizabeth Heberling. I know what port her sister sailed from, Trieste, Italy on the Carpathian, but have no info on Elizabeth or Steven. Spencer - I'm looking for any information regarding the "other" SPENCER family mainly out of Cass City. My Grandfather was Francis Leo SPENCER, he married Vernita Maude O'DELL in 1939. Francis's fathers name (I believe) was James Voyle SPENCER he married Anna DONEEN. I think James SPENCER's father may have been Jacob SPENCER. Webster - I am looking for the death date and place for Alfonso (or Alphonso) WEBSTER. He was born about 1820 in NY, and was in Tuscola Co in the 1880 census. He married (third time) Mary MUZZY on 24 July 1879 in Elmwood. In their marriage record they are both "of Elmwood". Alfonso's son, Emery WEBSTER, was also in Elmwood, Tuscola Co, with his wife, Carrie MCCLURE, in the 1880 census. I know quite a bit about them, including where are buried, which is in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Washington Twp. Macomb Co. along with Alfonso's second wife, Susan BATES. I also have been to Alfonso's father's grave (Daniel B.
