Bltzer - I have connected with BItzer family members in Tailfingen-Albrstadt Germany and upstate New York. But my three generations of Bitzer men came to the US in about 1848 and settled near Unionville. Johann and Matthias came with their brother Conrad. All prospered in the Civil War and kept in contact with their German family. John Justus Bitzer married a fellow descendant Martha Maute from Grass Lake MI and they lived on a farm outside of Unionville as well. Thier oldest son, George Mathias Bitzer, also lived his life in Tuscola Co. - Columbia Corners to be exact. So, I thought I would put this on the web and see if anyone connects. Happy hunting. We have throughly enjoyed the German relatives and hope to connect with some American cousins. Carol Gregory Wright, Tues., Nov 17, 1998

Dickerson - Looking for anyone with conections to Dickersons from Tuscola Co. Harvey C. Dickerson b: 1869 m: Amelia J. Miller b:1871. They had four children: Leon Raymond, Eva Mae, Merle, and Estella. L. Dickerson, Sat. Dec. 11, 1998 Doerr - Centauri, Sat., Dec. 11, 1998Hinkley - I found my husband's great-great grandmother, Hellen (Helen or Ellen) Davis HINKLEY, and her father Ebenezer DAVIS, prominently featured in your Tuscola County History here on this website, confirming family stories which claimed Ebenezer was the first (permanent) settler of Tuscola, and Hellen the first white child born there. I also noted mention of James H. DAVIS, M. V. (Martin VanBuren) DAVIS, and Sarah G. DAVIS who married Thomas LEWIS, as other children of Ebenezer and Phebe Ann DAVIS. From family sources, I had that Hellen was born in 1838 (the History gives her date of birth as 22 Oct. 1837) and died in 1868, or about that. I found one Christina (DAVIS) HINKLEY, daughter of E. and Philis M. Davis, born approximately 22 Nov. 1837 and died 14 July 1871, in Tuscola. She was listed on the Michigan GENDIS. Is this Hellen? The same parents were given on the death record of Al W. (presumably Alonzo W.) DAVIS, also in 1871, while the death record of Martin VanBuren DAVIS, in 1868, gives Ebenezer and Phebe Ann as parents. Hellen's husband Ruben HINKLEY, born 15 Oct. 1830 in Ohio (possibly Sandusky), died 28 June 1902 in Tuscola. As far as I know, the couple had only one child, Eugene Willard HINKLEY, born 6 May 1856 in Tuscola County. Again from the History, it appears Ruben married for a second time, to the widow of his brother-in-law Martin VanBuren DAVIS. The family source gave the names only of the following children for Ebenezer and Phebe DAVIS, which may or may not be correct: Hellen, Eleanor, Hester, Eliza, Oliver, William, Alexander, Amos, Harvey, "and three more, names unknown," stating there were a total of twelve, while the history says they had eleven. The 1850 Tuscola Co. Census p. 100 fam. 60, lists the family with children William, b. c1829, Sarah b. c1834, Martin b. c1836, Hellen b. c1838, Martha b. c1840, and Hester b. c1842. Can anyone out there fill me in more on this family? Nancy Prevost, Mon Nov 9, 1998.
