Thomas GAINFORTH was a farmer in Huron Co., Canada and then in Michigan, where he and his family removed in 1880. He was a member of the Church of England. He and his wife Martha BULL raised their grandson William ADLAM after the death of his parents as an infant. Later they lived with William and his family in Bay Park, Michigan until their death's. They had ten children, of which only Sarah remained in Ontario: Jane, Sarah, Susan, Fadelia, Amanda, William, Phoebe, James, Martha, and Charles.
