Announce Engagement

Mrs. Helen Waskelewski and the late Edward Waskelewski of Vassar wish to announce the engagement of their daughter Sylvia Marie to Robert L. Schwaderer son of Mr. and Mrs. William Schwaderer of Kingston. A June wedding is being planned.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Gilmore of Kingston have announced the engagement of their daughter Lois Kay to Timothy Joseph Beatty. Tim is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Beatty of Sandusky, Michigan.

Wedding plans are indefinite.

New Arrivals

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Powell of Pontiac are the proud parents of a baby girl, Jennie Elizabeth. She was born February 7, 1964.

Mr. and Mrs. John Barden, Jr., are parents of twins born Tuesday, February 18 at the Cass City Hospital. The twins a boy and a girl. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Barden Sr., of Kingston and Mrs. Ester Shotwell of Royal Oak.

Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Ruggles of New Hartford, New York are the proud parents of twin sons born February 14, Brian Lee and Blaine Lee. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Ruggles of Kingston and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Thayer of Alma Center, Wisconsin.

Golden Anniversary – Open House

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Reid of 2849 Fenner St., Marlette will observe their golden wedding anniversary at an Open House from 2 to 5 PM Sunday, February 23rd at the Marlette Baptist Church, Chard St.

Mr. Reid and the former Flora Thompson Garra were married in Detroit, February 24, 1914. The couple are members of the Marlette Baptist Church. Mr. Reid is a retired farmer.

The Open House is being given by their family, Clark Garra, of Royal Oak, Clayton Reid of Stanton, Mrs. Kenneth (Frances) Ruggles of Caro; and Mrs. Clifford (Genevieve) Curtis of Marlette.

The couple have 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Moore and Ellen Marie were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wynn, and Rhonda in Pontiac. They were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Emerson McIntyre and Kevin and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Grindley of Owosso and Mrs. Wiswell.

Mrs. J. H. Hunter entertained her niece Mrs. Wrayburn Krohn of Cass City, Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Lee Ensign of Marlette visited with Mr. and Mrs. Leland Ensign Saturday afternoon.

Sunday callers of Mrs. Loie Evans were Mr. Floyd Clark and Mr. Elmer Clark of Pontiac.

Valentines Day was celebrated Sunday at the Eugene Rassette home. Dinner guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Poissant and daughter Lisa of Detroit, and Mr. and Mrs. James Parker and children.

Mrs. Donald Roberson and Mrs. Arnold Moore attended the Missionary Retreat in Flint Thursday.

Mrs. Alton Lyon visited in Cass City Saturday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. D’Arcy.

Mrs. Hazel Wilmot has returned home after spending 10 days in Pontiac with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Powell and family.

Kevin McIntyre, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emerson McIntyre of Owosso visited his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Moore a few days last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Miller of Clarkson visited their mother Mrs. Loie Evans Thursday and Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Quiel and children of Taylor visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Torongeau last weekend.

Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ensign were shoppiong in Saginaw Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Ed Lyons, Mrs. Alton Lyons and Randy Lyons were business callers in Saginaw Wednesday.

DEATHS

Leon S. Ashcroft, 85, Decker, Michigan passed away February 17, 1964 in the Chambers Nursing Home, Sunday after an illness of 3 months. Mr. Ashcroft was born in Oakland Co, Michigan October 1, 1878.

He leaves a son, Leo of Decker, 2 brothers Roy of Shabbona and George, Deford.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 20, from the Harmon Funeral Home with Rev. W. Traver officiating. Burial was in the Novesta Cemetery.

East Dayton News

The East Dayton Community Aid met at the hall Wednesday for a cooperative dinner. Mrs. Lester Walker and Mrs. James Daily were hostesses.

Mrs. Clayton Hunter was a Tuesday evening caller of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Craig.

Mrs. Cecil Wilson was at Mercy Hospial , Bay City last week for a check-up.

Mr. and Mrs. Nick Ward called at the Mr. and Mrs. Murrey Docherty home last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Murrey Docherty called on Mr. and Mrs. LaVere Steele Friday.

Mrs. Nina Hunt was a Tuesday luncheon guest of Mrs. Margaret Walls and Jane Hunt.

Mrs. Leah Summerville was a Sunday caller at the Walls Home.

Sunday callers at the White House of John and Cecile Van Cleve were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pridmore and Geneva McCullough of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parker and Barbara, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Legg, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Kramer and Joy, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Clement and Cindy, and Roger, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Coan, Friday callers being Valentine favor was Mrs. Sadie Randall, and Mrs. Helen Taylor. Wednesday callers were Mr. and Mrs. Ellwood Eastman of Cass City.

Mr. John Annin is a patient in the Osteopathic Hospital in Sandusky.

Mr. and Mrs. Eli Stout visited relatives here Sunday.

Weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Burmeister were their sons William J. Burmeister of Hammond, Ind, and Mr. and Mrs. Van W. Burmeister , Larry, Jeanne, Connie and Terry Jane of Monroe, Michigan. Sunday guests were Mr. and Mrs. Clare Burmeister, Mark and Dawn of Clarkson and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gould and Glenna of Caro.

Mrs. Harley Harned and daughter Susan of Rochester and Mrs. Dick Robb, and son Brian of Washing were recent dinner guests of Mr.and Mrs. Alton Lyons.,

Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Powell were 6 o’clock supper guests of Mr. Loie Evans Thusday.

Mr. Robert Plane is confined to his home due to illness.
