Former Village President and Businessman Passes Away

Charles B. Schwaderer, 76 businessman and former Village President passed away Sunday, February 23, 1964 in the Marlette Hospital.

Mr. Schwaderer was born October 31, 1887 in Cass City. He and the former Abbie Smith were married October 21, 1912 in Valier, Montana. They had lived in Kingston for forty years.

Mr. Schwaderer was an active member of many of Kingstons civic enterprises. He was a life member of Kingston Lodge No 430 F & AM and a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars. He had the Ford Agency here for 40 years and a Standard Oil Dealer for 39 years.

He leaves his wife Abbie, 2 sons, Clark of Pompano Beach, Florida, and William of Kingston; a daughter Mrs. Abbie O’Kelly of Marlette, two brothers Ernest of Cass City and John of Yakima, Washington.

He lay in state at the Harmon Funeral Home until noon Wednesday.

Funeral services were held at the Kingston Methodist Church Wednesday February 26 at 2 pm with Rev. Alan Weeks and Rev. Wilbur Travers officiating. Burial was in the Kingston cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Hunter visited Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Craig, Thursday.

Mrs. Nina Hunter was a supper guest Saturday evening of Mrs. Luther Berry and spent the evening with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Berry.

Mr. and Mrs. Murrey Docherty were Saturday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. W. Wilcox of Clio. Mrs. Wilcox is recuperating from a heart attack.

Mrs. Lawson Bennett of Mayville was a Thursday dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Murrey Docherty.

Mr. and Mrs. John Aul and Charlene and his father Jake Aul, Mrs. Onalee Wells and Guy McCoon were Saturday evening callers of Mr. and Mrs. Murrey Docherty.

Mrs. Lorraine Garris spent the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Williams in Marion.

Mr. Lee Penfold of Kinde and Robert Penfold of Bad Axe were visitors of Mrs. Loie Evans Thurs.

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wilkins of Benton Harbor spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Harland Legg.

Rev. and Mrs. Hugh Putnam were Sunday supper guests of his neice Mrs. Nina Hunter and Ed and Ted Froede. Rev Putnam had the service in the Methodist Church Sunday evening.

Mrs. Arnold Moore spent Friday in Pontiac with relatives.

The Raymond Quiels of Taylor were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Torongeau.

Mr. and Mrs. Dilles Walker and children of Drayton Plains, Mr. and Mrs. Jr. Walker and sons, Mr. and Mrs David Walker and Nancy of Ottonville, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Walker and Fred, Mr. and Mrs. John Walker of Caro, and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Walker and grandson of Pontiac were Sunday guests of Mrs. Cecil Walker.

Mrs. Leland Ensign, Mrs. Douglas Ensign and Alice Steele attended a bridal shower in honor of Miss Doris Rich on Sunday.

Mrs. Leland Ensign, Mrs. James Caswell and Alice Steele spent Saturday afternoon in Saginaw.

Mr. and Mrs. Claude Kaddatz and family of Lake Orion called on Frank Kitely Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Douglas Ensign spent Saturday with Mrs. Robert Miles of Silverwood.

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Miller of Clarkston spent 2 days with Mrs. Loie Evans last week.

Miss Debbie Wilkins of Benton Harbor was a weekend guest of Miss Sandy Heineman.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Grindley of Owosso and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Moore and Ellen Marie atteneded the wedding of a niece and cousin Miss Charline Boshears of Holly Saturday evening February 22.

Mr. and Mrs. Leo Weslowski and Mrs. John Lewicki of Decker spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Torongeau.
