Candlelight Ceremony – Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Browning

On Saturday, April 6, at 7:00 P.M. Miss Jeanne London, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd London of Norwalk, California became the bride of Mr. Edwin Browning, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Browning of Kingston. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Fred Becknell at the Lamotte United Missionary Church. The altar was decorated with baskets of white daisies and gladiolus.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a floor length white linen dress with lace scallops on the neck, ¾ length sleeves and the hem. Her train was of the same material and trim on the edging. She carried white roses, daisies and gladiolus.

Maid-of-honor was Frances Reeves of Port Huron. Brides maids were Janine Wilhelmsen of Marlette and Ranae Rayl of Sherwood. They wore floor length dresses with ¾ length sleeves and empire waistline. Their dresses were aqua, pink, and yellow respectively and they carried carnations dyed to match their gowns.

Little JoAnn Browning was flower girl. She wore a white floor length dress and carried a minature bouquet like the brides.

Harold Weigert, Jr., Marlette was best man with David Wilhelmsen, Marlette and Dick Taylor Kingston as groomsmen. Ring bearer was William Hicks of Hemans. Ushers were Fred Walker of Caro, and Roger Cooper of Cass City.

Mr. Howard Hicks of Hemans soloist sang "O Promise Me", "The Lord’s Prayer," and "The Wedding Prayer."

The brides mother choose a white and blue dress with cape and tan accessories. The groom’s mother wore a beige lace dress with beige accessories. Both wore corsages of white carnations.

A reception was held at the multi-purpose room in the Kingston High School with approximately 200 guests attending. Out of state guests were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd London of Norwalk, California and a sister and husband Mr. and Mrs. John Lowe of Downey, California. Out of town guests were from Port Huron, Tawas City, Pontiac, Twining, Turner, Saginaw, Lyons, Drayton Plains, Caro, Reese, Bay City, Detroit, Marlette, Flint, Lapeer, Mason, Hemans, Lansing and Silverwood.

The four tier wedding cake was made by the grooms mother and decorated by a friend of the family, Mrs. Don Anger.

The couple spent their honeymoon in Pt. Huron and Canada.

Surprised on 25th Anniversary

A Silver Wedding Anniversary surprise party was held in the Methodist Church dining room Saturday evening April 6, 1968, for Mr. and Mrs. Walter Harmon whose anniversary was Wednesday April 3.

The program consisted of readings by Mrs. Eldon Denhoff, and Mrs. Clayton Hunter. The ladies trio, Mrs. Gerald Powell, Mrs. Albert Ruggles, and Mrs. Arlo Ruggles sang two selections. Albert Ruggles, Louis Wenzlaff, Jr., Gerald Powell, Fred Ruggles, James Daily, Jr., and Donald Burden sang in the men’s chorus during the "Mock Wedding Ceremony."

Walter and Carolyn received several gifts besides a spruce money tree.

Their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Stutz of Kalamazoo and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bowen of Minden City enjoyed the occasion with their many friends and neighbors.

A lunch of wedding cake, sandwiches, jello, cake, punch and coffee was served by the ladies of the church.

Double Ring Ceremony

The Methodist Church in Cass City was the scene of a double ring ceremony uniting Miss Dorothy Tracy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Tracy of Cass City and Mr. Raymond Caverly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Cummings. The vows were repeated before Rev. Braid on Saturday the 6th of April.

Miss Tracy was given in marriage by her father. She wore a white satin floor length gown with a train, and carried red roses on a white bible.

Linda Harris was matron of honor with bridesmaids, Carol Furness, Thessa Tracy, and Lynn Mallory. Their gowns were light blue in color, and they each carried a single red rose.

Casper Caverly was best man and Robert Miller, Jammie Harrison, and Theodore Furness were groomsmen. Mark Cummings was Jr. groomsman.

The bride’s mother choose an aqua suite with white accessories while the grooms mother wore beige. Each wore a corsage of pink carnations.

A reception was held at the American Legion Hall in Cass City with approximately 150 guests present.

The bride’s wedding gown was made by the grooms mother Mrs. Eugene Cummings.

OBITUARIES – Earl Harneck

Earl Harneck passes away April 2, 1968 at Hills and Dales Hospital in Cass City.

He was born June 24, 1897 in Koylton Township and was a lifelong resident of this community.

Earl Harneck and Gladys Gould were married in December 1944. She passed away in March of 1963.

He leaves to mourn his passing 4 step daughters; Mrs. Virginia Milne, Inkster; Mrs. Betty Kuffner, Allen Park; Miss Donna Gould, Royal Oak; Mrs. Lois Brule, Hoguian, Washington. 2 step sons Franklin Gould, Pontiac; Donald Gould, Caro. 1 brother Arthur of Marlette, 2 sisters Mrs Margaret Schmeil, Pontiac and Mrs. Vera DeGrow Florida.

The funeral was held April 6, 1968 from the Harmon Funeral Home with Rev. Wilbur Traver officiating. Burial was in the Kingston Cemetery.

Lucy Lymburn

Lucy Jane Lymburn died April 3, 1968 at the Caro Community Hospital after a 4 months illness. Miss Lymburn was born October 4, 1899 at Fairview Michigan and came to Dayton Township about 60 years ago, where she had since resided.

She leaves on sister Maggie Lymburn.

The funeral was held from the home ¼ mile West of East Dayton at 10:00 A.M. April 6, 1968. Rev Oluf Jensen of Caro Baptist Church officiated. Burial was at Fairview, Michigan under the auspices of the Harmon Funeral Home.

Local and Social

Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Tong, Linda, Lydia, Lisa, and Miss Donna Edwards of Ferndale spent weekend at the farm.

Sunday callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ensign were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Ensign of Marlette. Mrs. Everett Rich, Patsy and Maxine of Silverwood, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Miles and children of Clifford, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Tong and daughters of Ferndale.

Mrs. Charles Schwaderer has returned home after visiting her son Mr. and Mrs. Clark Schwaderer in Pampano Beach, Fla.

Mr. and Mrs. Dean Boyne of Leonard, Mr. and Mrs. Carlyle Everett and Beverly were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Hazel Wilmot. In the afternoon they were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Forest Thorton and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kaiser of Port Huron.

Mr. and Mrs. Archie Rodenbo and family of Auburn Heights visited their parents Mr. and Mrs. Fred Neal over the weekend.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Torongeau and family of Wyandotte spent the weekend with their mother Mrs. Ernest Torongeau.

Mrs. Ethel Seddon and Mr. Bill Boisington of Flint called on Mrs. Hazel Wilmot Monday afternoon.

Miss Cathy Parker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Parker of Horton is staying with the James Parker children and attending school here.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Neal called on relatives in Imlay City Sunday evening.

Mrs. Hazel Wilmot spent Wednesday in Cass City with Mrs. George Bacon a former neighbor of hers when she lived in Flint.

Don Legg is with the National Guard in Detroit.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Knight & Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee and two children of Detroit spent the weekend camping at the Tong farm.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Tong were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Ensign. On Sunday all attended the 45th Wedding Anniversary dinner honoring Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Thorp at the Gilford Extension Hall.

Mrs. R. L. Dafoe of Warren spent the weekend with her mother Mrs. Wiswll at the Arnold Moore home.

Mr. and Mrs. John Burmeister were Thursday callers at the Leo Legg home.

Mrs. Laura Smith of Jackson is spending a few days at her farm home here.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wiswell of Elkhart, Indiana visited Mrs. Wiswell and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Moore.

Mr. and Mrs. Wally Wilmot and Doug of Royal Oak spent Friday evening and Saturday with their mother, Mrs. Hazel Wilmot.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pridmore of Detroit spent the weekend with relatives here.

Mr. and Mrs. James Jersey of Grand Ledge were visitors of their parents Mr. and Mrs. Dale Clemet over the weekend.

Scott Parker of Horton is spending the week with relatives here.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thorp and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Curry attended the 45th Wedding Anniversary dinner in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Thorp Sunday at Gilford.

IT IS ORDERED, that on June 20th, 1968 at ten A.M. in the Probate Courtroom in the Village of Caro, Michigan, a hearing be held at which all creditors of said deceased are required to prove their claims and legal heirs will be determined. Creditors must file sworn claims with the Court and serve a copy on Betty Essary, Executrix of Marlette, Michigan, prior to said hearing.
