Devotional service followed by regular business meeting.  Brother Middaugh in chair.  Sister Churchill elected secretary.  Proceeded to vote by ballot for stewards. Sister Churchill and Sister McConnell.

Anderson pastor in charge.  Devotional meeting followed by regular business.  Sister Churchill secretary.  Stewards elected as follows:  Sister Nora Moshier, and Brother N. H. Lobb. Special society meeting called to order with Rev. A. A. Davis in charge at home of Brother Hillman.  Roll call to which 8 members responded.  Motion made by chair to appoint tellers.  Ballots cast for steward to fill vacancy caused by removal of Brother Lobb.  Sister Jenereaux elected.  Paster reported having received $90.00 on his salary from this parish.   Motion made to adjourn.

 

July 1924

 

Annual society meeting met after prayer meeting at home of Brother Mulhall and after prayer service the pastor had charge of business meeting.

Roll call with 8 members present.  Secretary present.  No recommendations.  Election of tellers voted.  Chair appointed Olive Churchill and Ada Engle.  Election of class leader.  Brother Churchill elected on 3rd ballot.

Election of stewards.  Sister Moshier, and Sister Jenereaux.  Election of Sunday School Superintendent Sister Churchill.

Miscellaneous business – Statement made regarding raising funds to purchase parsonage at Wilmot.  Minutes read and approved.

 

April 1925

 

Special society meeting called to consider use of envelopes in collecting pastor’s salary.  Motion made and seconded and passed unanimously that we adopt the budget system.

 

May 22

 

Society meeting voted to elect a budget secretary.  Brother Warren Churchill elected.

 

July 17, 1925

 

Devotional service consisted of prayer meeting at home of Brother and Sister Hillman.  Roll call to which nine responded.  Secretary elected, Sister Churchill.  No recommendations were made.  Motion made the chair appoint tellers. Olive Churchill and Ruth Davis appointed.  Election of class leader – Brother Churchill.  Election of stewards - Sister McConnell and Brother Oscar Jenereaux.  Election of Sunday School Superintendent.  Miscellaneous business.  Report of Budget secretary explanation by Brother Davis in which it was shown to be a success whever used.  Ballots were cast to decide whether we adopt it for the coming year.  Voted “yes” and Brother Oscar Jenereaux elected secretary. 

Brother Churchll appointed to collect the $3.00 in payment for wood to be used in the school house for Sunday services.  Minutes read and approved.  Adjourned.

 

Oct 15, 1925

 

Special society meeting for the election of two stewards to fill vacancy caused by removal of Brother Oscar Jenereaux and from health of Sister McConnell.  Proceeded to ballot.  Brother Warren Churchill and Brother George Mulholland were elected. Brother Churchill to be budget secretary.  Attention called to the $1.25 still due on wood.  Brother Mulholland appointed to look after it.

Prayer meeting took place of Devotional exercise.  Meeting held at school house.  Roll call and 9 members responded.  Sister Churchill elected clerk.  No recommendations.  Sister Davis elected teller.  Proceed to vote by ballot for stewards.  Brother Mulholland and Brother Churchill elected.  Election of Superintendent – Sister Churchill. For class leader Brother Churchill elected.  He resigned and more ballots were cast.  Sister Churchill elected to fill vacancy caused by his resignation. 

Miscellaneous business – Voted to continue budget system the coming year.  Brother Churchill as steward was elected by acclamation to act as budget secretary.  Minutes read and approved.  Adjourned – Maude Churchill, Secretary. 

 

 

July 29, 1927

 

Prayer meeting took the place of devotional meeting.  Brother Angus, Pastor in charge.  Meeting held at Brother and Sister Mulholland.  Roll call to which 6 responded.  Sister Churchill elected clerk.  Ballots cast for stewards. Brother Mulholland and Brother Churchill elected.  Vote for Sunday School Superintendent.  Sister Churchill elected.  Votes cast for class leader.  Sister Nora Moshier elected.  Favorable discussion on budget system and decided to continue the coming year.  Brother Churchill elected Budget Secretary-Treasurer.  Minutes read and approved.  Adjourned – Maud Churchill.

 

 

March 15, 1928

 

Novesta Business meeting of F. M. Church followed the devotional meeting Services in charge of Brother Angus.  Sister Churchill elected secretary.  A vacancy in the position of the class leader has occurred by Sister Nora Moshier’s absence from home.  On motion the secretary was ordered to cast a ballot for the election of Oscar Jenereaux to fill such vacancy.   Adjourned- Maude Churchill.

 

 

July 27, 1928

 

Devotional meeting, held at Brother Churchill’s.  Brother Angus was in charge.  Roll call to which 2 members responded.  On motion Sister Churchill was elected secretary.  On motion Harold Churchill was elected teller. Stewards elected – Brother Mulholland and Brother Churchill elected on first ballot.  Election of Sunday School Superintendent, Chairman nominated Sister Churchill.  Ballots cast, Sister Churchill elected.  Preacher in charge nominated Sister Bernice Jenereaux for class leader and upon balloting she was elected.  Minutes were read and approved.  On motion meeting was adjourned.  Maude Churchill, Secretary.

Devotional services conducted by Brother Davis as a general prayer and testimonal service.  Roll call 8 members responded.  Reading of minutes.  Election of President - Brother Davis.  Vice President - Sister Moshier. Secretary - Kenneth Churchill.  Treasurer – Olive Churchill.  Reports from officers and teachers.  Election of teachers – Adult- Brother Mulholland, Young people class – Sister Moshier, Intermediate- Sister Engels, Primary – Sister Mulholland, Substitute teachers, Brother Churchill and Sister Jenereaux.   Discussions of Literature.  Light and Life Evangel – 10, Primary paper – 8, Picture cards – 8.  Decided to adopt a new system of attendance cards.  Recommended for use in primary class.  Talk on organization of Intermediate class and giving of prize to members for regular attendance.   Maude Churchill, Secretary.

Devotional meeting conducted by pastor- Brother Angus.  Roll call to which seven members responded.  Minutes of last meeting read and approved.  Reading from discipline on Sunday School Board work.  Board proceeded to vote by ballot for officers.  Election of teller – Olive Churchill.

Ass’t Superintendent – Sister Mosier; Secretary – Olive Churchill; Treasurer – Warren Churchill; Librarian – Ruby Procter; Primary class teacher – Sister Mulholland; Intermediate class teacher – Sister Engles; Adult Class teacher – Brother Mulholland.  Organization of Sunday School Board:  Brother Angus elected President; Sister Angus elected secretary-treasurer.  Decided to have a Christmas service.  A committee elected to serve in preparing such service Sister Churchill, Sister Mulholland, and Sister Patch.  Another Sunday School board meeting in December.

Jan  1927

 

Meeting of the Sunday School Board Novesta Sunday School held at Brother Mulholland’s.  Five members present.  Treasurer reported a debt of 50 cents on supplies.  Superintendent reported word encouraging and discussed some problems.  It was decided that Primary class include children up to and including eight years.  Junior class ages nine, ten, eleven and twelve and Intermediate and Senior children from twelfth year to Bible Class.  On motion Sister Moshier was elected teacher of Juniors.  The question of awards in the different classes was discussed and agreed upon.  On motion the birthday offering plan was adopted.  It was voted to take special collection to pay debt on supplies.  On motion it was decided to have annual promotion exercise in connection with Children’s Day service and promote all children of promotion age whose birthdays come before conference and those whose birthdays come after conference wait until next year.  On motion the meeting adjourned.

 

March 4, 1927

 

Meeting of Sunday School Board of Novesta Sunday School held at Brother Mulholland’s.  Five members present.  Superintendent reported Sunday School I an encouraging condition and that suggestions of board have put in practice. The pastor spoke to the board on the value of the work of the various departments.  On motion Cradle Roll, Home, Temperance, and Missionary Departments were added to the school.  On motion Sister Mulholland was elected Cradle Roll Superintendent and Sister Jenereaux Home Department Superintendent.  Sister Moshier was elected Temperance Superintendent and Sister Angus Missionary Superintendent.  On motion Light and Life activities contest was ordered to be adopted in the school.  On motion meeting was adjourned.

 

May 6, 1927

 

Devotional exercises conducted by Bro. Angus, held at Brother Mulholland’s.  Olive Churchill elected secretary pro tem.  Reading of last minutes dispensed.  Roll call – 7 members present.  Secretary reported favorably.  Reports from Departments Superintendents and Teachers.  Appointment of committee to prepare programs for Children’s Day exercises. Sister Mulholland, Sister Moshier, Sister Engles and Sister Churchill being elected.  On motion meeting was adjourned.   Olive Churchill

Sunday School Board meeting met at Brother Churchill’s with Brother Angus in charge.  After devotional meeting Sister Churchill was elected secretary pro tem.  Roll call was answered to by 8 members.  Reports given by Superintendent, Secretary and Treasurer.  Teachers elected:  Primary- Sister Mulholland; Junior -  Sister Moshier; Intermediate – Sister Engels; Adult – Brother Withey, Substitute Teachers – Brother Mulholland and Sister Jenereaux.  Committee on Children’s day exercises reported Good exercises and attendance reported committee dismissed. Ass’t Superintendent – Brother Mulholland.  Secretary – Olive Churchill; Treasurer – Brother Churchill; Cradle Roll  Superintendent – Sister Mulholland; Home Department Superintendent – Sister Withey; Temperance Department Superintendent – Sister Moshier; Missionary Department Superintendent – Sister Angus.  Organization of Board:  Brother Angus – President; Sister Churchill Secretary and Treasurer.  Tithe sent in as requested by conference.  One issue of Worker was taken.  Adjourned. December 1, 1927

 

Sunday School board meeting held at Brother Churchill’s.  Brother Angus in charge.  After devotions, roll was called 6 answered.  Minutes of last meeting read and approved.  Treasurer’s report showed $3.10 on hand with 76 cents in birthday offering.  Superintendent instructed to ask for about $2 to be raised during the next 2 weeks which is needed for supplies.  Some plans talked over for Christmas exercise.  Superintendent and teachers left to look after the matter.

March 15, 1928

 

Sunday School Board meeting at Brother Mulholland’s followed prayer meeting.  Roll car to which 6 members answered.  Minutes of last meeting were omitted.  Regular order of business suspended except questions 12 and 13.  Question 12 regarding Sister Moshier having gone to Oxford has resigned her class and vacancy filled by Sister Bernice Jenereaux.  Question 13 concerned discussion on number of supplies needed.
