The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the Clifford church. Conference called to order by the clerk. On motion Bro Charles Eastman was elected chairman and opened the meeting by reading scripture and singing with Prayer by Bro. Harper. The minutes of the last meeting and approved letters were read from the following churches (vis) Clifford, Novesta, 2nd Novesta, Kingston, North Branch, Watertown, Amadore, Canboro, Goodland and a card from W.H. Whitaker of Jackson and letter from Bro. Upper. On motion of Bro. Harper the chair appoint the committees: Business committee Bros Harper, Wm. Howey, and McWilliams. Pulpit committee Sister Kirbey Sister Maulk and Sister Chase. Locating Committee, Sister Harner, Sister Chase and Sister Osborn. On closeing resolution Bro. C. W. Eastman. The chair invited all corresponding delegates and visiting Breathern to set in conference as advisor members. On motion of Bro. Harper it was voted to give the collection to the Quarterly meeting. On motion of Bro. Harper it was voted to give a special collection to the Michigan Association. On motion of Sister Chase it was voted that Sister Patent be a delegate to the Genesee Quarterly meeting and Bro. Harper to the Oxford Quarterly meeting. On motion of Bro Harper it was voted that this Quarterly meeting be opened by a Sermon on Friday afternoon. Motion to adjourn with Prayer by Bro. Eastman. Saturday Feb 10, 1900 Conference called to order by the chair. Meeting opened by Singing with Prayer by Bro. Sutphen. A report from corresponding delegates called for but no report. The Locating committee reported and recommend the next Quarterly meeting to be held with the Kingston Church. On motion it was so voted. On motion of Bro. Sutphen it was voted that the present Pulpit committee appoint the Speaker for the opening sermon at the next quarterly meeting. Bro. Willis King made a report of the Oxford Quarterly meeting which was accepted. Motion to adjourn to the call of the chair. Prayer by Bro. C. W. Eastman. Saturday 4 p.m. Conference opened by Prayer by Bro. Eastman. On motion of Bro. Harper it was voted to hire an Evangelist for the next year. On motion of Bro. Rosenberger it was voted that the old Evangelist committee be retained for another year. On motion of Sister Chase it was voted that a committee be appointed to draft constitution and bylaws for the governing of the Evangelist. Bro Harper, Bro Sutphen, and Bro. Eastman were appointed to draw up the constitution and bylaws governing the Evangelist. Motion to adjourn with Pray by Bro. Eastman. The religious services were as follows: Friday evening Preaching by Bro. Harper Saturday 10:30 Preaching by Bro. Sutphen Saturday 2:30 p.m. covenant meeting led by Bro. King. The Lords Supper following administered by Bros. Allen of New York and Sutphen. Saturday Evening Missionary Meeting Preaching by Bro. Allen Sabbath 9:30 Prayer and Praise Service by Bro. Rosenberger Sabbath 10:30 Preaching by Bro. Stone Sabbath 2:30 Preaching by Bro. Eastman. Sabbath Evening Preaching by Bro. Sutphen. Sunday collection $5.56. J.H. Swailes, Clerk.
Kingston May 11, 1900 The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the Kingston Church. Meeting called to order by the Clerk. On motion Bro. Harper was elected Chairman and opened the meeting by Singing, Reading Scripture and Prayer by Bro. Rosenberger. Minutes read and approved. The reading of letters from the following churches, Kingston, Clifford, North Branch, Oliver, Amadore, Goodland, Watertown, Bottom Creek, Pigeon River and 2nd Novesta. On motion Bro. Sutphen was appointed assistant chairman. Corresponding delegates and visiting Breathern were invited to set in conference as advisor members. The following committees were appointed by the Chair: Business Committee Bros. Rosenberger, Sutphen, and Stone. Pulpit Committee Bros. Pattent , Broadway, and Sister Chase. Locationg committee Sister Pringle, Bros. Wm. Howey, and McWilliams. Resolution committee Bro. Sutphen. A report of delegates to other bodies was called for. Bro. Harper reported as delegate to the Oxford Quarterly meeting. The treasurer made a report which was accepted. On motion Bro. Swailes was elected clerk and treasurer for one year. A report of the Evangelist committee was read by Bro. Upper and excepted. On motion of Sister Chase a vote of Thanks was given Bro. Upper as chairman of the Evangelist Committee. On motion of Sister Pringle it was voted that the treasurer pay Bro. Stone the balance of his salary of $22.85 for the year as Evagelist. On motion of Bro. Rosenberger it was voted to Instruct the committee not to hire an Evangelist this coming year. On motion it was voted to discharge the committee. On motion of Bro. Broadway it was voted that the dues be five cents instead of ten the coming year. On motion of Bro. Howey the collection was giving to Bro. Calkins. On motion Bro. Sutphen was elected delegate to the Oxford Quarterly meeting and Bro. Eastman to the Genesee Quarterly meeting. On motion of Bro. Pain it was voted to let the Pigeon River church had the tent the comiong summer. Motion to adjourn with Prayer by Bro. Upper. Friday Evening Prayer and Praise Service led by Bro. Mason and Preaching by Bro. Stone. Saturday, May 12, 9 a.m. Conference called to order by the chair. Meeting opened by Prayer by Bro. Abbee and others. After singing a verbal report from the Freemont church was giving by Bro. Rosenberger. The committee on location reported and recommend the next Quarterly meeting to be held with the Pigeon River Church. On motion it was voted as recommended. Motion to adjourn, Prayer by Bro. C. W. Eastman. Saturday 10:30 a.m. the Ministers and Layman Institute was opened by Bro. Haines. A good Program was prepared and good discussion listened to by all. Some changes were made in the article in regards to the Oxford Quarterly Meeting. Saturday 2 p.m. a general covenant meeting led by Bro. Swailes after which the Lords Supper was administered by Bros. Abbee and Haines. Saturday Evening Missionary Meeting with Preaching by Bro. Sutphen. Collection $5.00. Sabbath Morning 6 a.m. Prayer meeting. At 9 A.m. Sabbath School. At 10:30 a.m. Preaching by Bro Rosenberger with collection of eleven dollars and seventy five cents ($11.75). Sabbath 2 p.m. Young People meeting led by Bro. Mason and Rober Harner. Sabbath 7:30 p.m. Preaching by Bro. C. W. Eastman. The A. C. F. collection was $1.43. J. H. Swailes, Q.M. Clerk.
Pigeon August 10, 1900 The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the Pigeon River Church. Conference called to order by the clerk. Meeting opened by reading Scripture and Prayer by Bro. Haines. On motion Bro. Sutphen was elected chairman. The minutes of last conference read and approved. Letters read from the following churches (vis): Pigeon River, Goodland, Oliver, Kingston, Amadore, Canboro, 1st Novesta. Bro. Haines was appointed assistant chair. It was voted the chair appoint the committees. The chair then appointed on Business Committee Bros. Eastman, Stone and Haines. Pulpit committee Bros. Tub, Sister Whiting, and Bro. Seeley. Committee on Location Bro J. Parker Sutphen and Sister Allie Curtice. Corresponding delegates and visiting Bretheren were invited to set in conference as advisor members. Reports of delegates to other bodies called for. Delegates reported unable to go. Bro. McCall delegate from the Genesee Quarterly meeting made a report. Bro. Vanwormer State Agent was present and made a report for his work. On motion Bro. Stone was elected delegate to the Oxford Quarterly meeting and Bro. Sutphen to the Genesee Quarterly meeting. On motion of Bro. Harper, Bro. Willis King was elected delegate to the Michigan Association, also Bro. Eastman. On motion it was voted that the request of the Canboro church be granted and a committee of three be appointed by the chair to Examine Bro. Willis King for ordanation. Such committee was Bros. McCall, Haines, and Bro. Vanwormer. On motion of Bro. Abbee it was voted that the Examination be made Public. Motion to adjourn with Prayer by Bro. McCall. Friday evening Preaching by Bro. Willis King. Saturday 9 a.m. August 11, 1900 Conference called to order by the chair. After the opening of the meeting the counsel proceeded to Examine Bro. Willis King for ordaination and made their report as follows. According to a request from Canboro Free Baptist Church for the Examination and if thought best the Ordination of Bro. Willis D. King a committee was elected consisting of Rev. J. W. McCall, Rev. W. P. Vanwormerm and Rev. B. Haines committee met at 8 a.m. Meeting opened by Prayer by W. P. Vanwormer. He was also chosen clerk of council. After a thorough examination of candidate on Christian Experience, call to the ministry, doctrine and policy of the church also as to his present education acquirements and the prospect of his prossienting his studies in the future it was unanimousily voted to recommend his ordination with the following order. Sermon by J.D. McCall, Prayer by B. Haines, Charge W.P. Vanworner. Charge to the church J. W. Carpenter. Hand of fellowship W. R. Harper. W. P. Vanwormer, Clerk. On motion of Bro. Harper, the report was accepted. On motion of Bro. Harper it was voted to give the collection to the State work. On motion of Sister Allie Curtice it was voted to give the Pigeon River church twenty five dollars from the Quarterly meeting treasurer. The committee on location made their report and recommend the next Quarterly Meeting to be held with the 2nd Oliver church. On motion it was so voted. On motion of Bro. Abbee it was voted to have the Ordination Sermon preached on Saturday Evening and the Women Missionary Meeting be held on Sunday Evening. Motion to adjourn Prayer by Bro. Brey. Saturday 2 p.m. Covenant meeting led by Bro. Swailes, after which the Lords Supper was administered by Bros McCall and Brey. Saturday evening the ordination sermon of Bro. King was preached by Bro. McCall. Consecrating Prayer by Bro. Haines. Charge by Vanwormer, Charge to the Church by Carpenter, Hand of Fellowship by Harper, Benediction by Candidate. Sabbath 6 a.m. Prayer meeting, 9 a.m. Prayer and Praise service by Bro. Mason. 10:00 a.m. Sabbath School organized 10:30 a.m. Preaching by Bro. Brey, 2 p.m. dedication of the new church. Preaching by Bro. Vanwormer and church dedicated in used form with Prayer by Harper. Dedication by MeCall Prayer by Stone and song Benediction by Sutphen. Oliver, Nov 9, 1900 The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the Oliver Church. In the absence of the clerk the meeting was called to order by Bro. Sutphen. Bro. R. A. Thompson was appointed Clerk, Pro Tem. Meeting opened by Singing reading Scripture and Prayer by Bro. Thompson. On motion Bro. Sutphen was elected chairman. Letters were read from the following churches (vis) Canboro, Kingston, Freemont, Pigeon River, Goodland, Novesta Amandore and Clifford. On motion it was voted that the chair appoint the committees. The following were appointed: Business Committee, Bros. Stone, Harper and Eastman. Pulpit committee Bros Howey, McWilliams, and Harbal. Locating committee Bro. Southworth, Delong, and Sister Howey. Corresponding messagers absent. Bro. Sutphen gave verbal report of Oxford Quarterly Meeting as being Spiritual but poorly attended. On motion Bro. Stone was elected delegate to the Oxford Quarterly Meeting and Bro. Eastman to the Genesee Quarterly Meeting. On motion of Bro. Stone it was voted to give the collection to Father Williams. Saturday, 9 a.m. Nov 10 Conference called to order by chair. On motion it was voted that ten dollars be drawing from treasurer ever three months and giving to Father Williams of Goodland church to commence at once. On motion it was voted that the chair appoint a committee to ascertain whether the Quarterly Meeting can be hold property or not and report next Quarterly Meeting. The following resolution was then afford. Resolution: As we have for some reasons failed n the past to report fully each quarterly session to the Free Baptist and Morning Star our denominational paper and as such information is not only interesting by beneficial Therefore be it resolved first that our Secretary be instructed to report each session of Quarterly meetings to Free Baptist and Morning Star. 2nd be it further resolved that the holding of each session be published at least two weeks before time of holding in our denominational paper. 3rd be it also resolved that our secretary’s attention be called to Sec 11, Art 9, Business of the Quarterly Meeting and that a letter containing such general information be writing by the clerk and forwarded by delegate or otherwise to association clerk. 4th be it further resolved that we urge our churches to cooperate with State work and raise our apportument if possible.
