The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened at the Watertown Free Will Baptist church, Feb 8, 1901.

Meeting called to order by Bro. Rosenberger. Election of clerk, pro tem, moved and carried that Bro. E. West act as clerk Pro Tem. Moved and carried that Bro. Rosenberger act as moderator. Election of Committees: Pulpit com. Sister John Aust and Sister Corsant and Sister Ella Thorp. Business com. Bro. Stone, Bro. Geo French and Bro. John Schell. Locating committee Bro. W. J. Halcorn. Wm. Howey, John Schell. Closing Resolution Bro. Stone.

Devotional services with Song and Prayer and reading Scriptures, Romans 12 chapter reading of letters followed all reported favorable Spiritually.

Appointment of Delegates for Genesee Quarterly Meeting was Bro. Stone. For the Oxford Quarterly Meeting. Bro. Thompson. Moved and carried.

The Sunday morning collection be giving to Rev. Bro. Williams. Report from the Oxford Quarterly Meeting by Bro. Carpenter moved and carried that Bro. Carpenter act as advisory member. Moved and carried that we adjourn. Hymn number 40, Prayer by Bro. Carpenter.

Evening Prayer meeting by Bro. Thompson, after Prayer meeting Scripture lesson read by Bro. Rosenberger. Preaching by Bro. Carpenter, text 4 chapter 1 John 14 verses followed by Bro. Stone.

Feb 9, Morning reading of Scripture by Bro. King Gal 5, ch. Moved and carried that Bro. Stone telephone to Bro. Towner a member of the State com for instructions for the examination and ordination of Bro. Thompson and the expense be taking from the Quarterly Meeting funds moved and carried that we adjourn Hymn by Bro. King and Thompson reading of Scripture by Bro. Rosenberger. Preaching by Bro. Thompson text 9 verse of the 3 ch of John.

Feb 9, p.m.

Communion Services opened by Bro. King. Bro. Stone and Bro. Carpenter officiated at the Sacrement of the Lord’s Supper. Business meeting report from Bro. Stone that Bro. Towner recommend the laying over of the Examination and Ordination of Bro. Thompson for 2 or 3 weeks. Committee report the next Quarterly Meeting be held at North Goodland. Moved and carried that the committee on ordination be notified to meet at Amadore to perform such duties, Thursday, Feb. 28.

Moved and carried that the clerk draw an order of 30 cents to pay telephone expenses.

Moved and carried that we have an evangelist the coming year.

Moved and carried that we raise the 5 cents dues for the Support of Bro. Williams. Motion was lost. Subscription was taking for Bro. Williams said $10.00 was raised.

Saturday Evening Prayer and Testimony Meeting led by Bro. Stone. Scripture lesson read by Bro. Rosenberger text. Effesians 5 ch, 17 vers.

Report of ordination com not present.

Moved and carried said com be dismissed.

Moved and carried that Bro. Towner or some one of the State com set as chairman of ordaining com Bros. Stone, King, Schell McWilliams set as com on Examination and Ordination. Moved and supported that the examination be private. An amendment was made that it be Public. The amendment was carried. Moved and carried that we adjourn.

Sunday morning

Devotional exercises led by Bro. Thompson. Scripture lessons Hebrews 2 chapter.

After devotional exercises Bro. King read scripture lessons. Prayer by Bro. Carpenter. Preaching by Bro. Stone text 2 ch Hebrews 3 verse.

Sunday morning collection $6.25.

Sunday p.m. Missionary Service led by Bro. King followed by Bro. Thompson.

Consecration meeting led by Bro. Rosenberger.

Sunday evening, Prayer and Praise services led by Bro. Carpenter. Scripture lesson 4 ch of 1 Cor by Bro. Rosenberger. Prayer by Bro. Stone preaching by Bro. King. Text 3 Ch of Hebrews, 17 verse.

Short business meeting followed. Moved and carried that we except the decision of the Location com that the next Quarterly meeting be held at the North Goodland church. Moved and carried Bro. Stone have full charge of all money belonging to Bro. Williams from the Quarterly Meeting. Closing resolution. Presented by Bro. Stone moved and carried that we except the resolutions. Presented by Bro. Stone.

Goodland May 10, 1901

The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the North Goodland church conference called to order by the clerk.

On motion Bro. Stone was elected chairman and opened the meeting by reading Scripture, then Prayer by Bro. Harper.

The constitution and bylaws were read.

On motion it was voted that Bro. E. West be assistant clerk. Minutes of the last meeting read by Bro. West. Letters read from the following churches (vis) Goodland, Canboro, Novesta, Amadore, North Branch, Watertown, Freemont, and Kingston.

On motion of Kingston delegates Bro. Harper and Sister Harper and Bro. Parr be delegates of Kingston Church.

On motion of Watertown delegates it was voted that Grace MeWilliams and Bro. Astic be delegates for the Watertown church.

On motion it was voted that the chair appoint the committees. The following committees were then appointed: Business committee Bros Harper, Thompson, and Pringle; Pulpit committee Bros Mason, Carsort and Sister Churchil; Locating Committee Bro. Howey, Bro. J. W. Schell and Bro. McWilliams.

Reports of delegates to other bodies called for, Bro. Mason made a report as delegate to the Oxford Quarterly Meeting. No report from Genesee Quarterly Meeting. Reports of delegates from other bodies called for. Bro. Sunied made a good report of the Oxford Quarterly Meeting as delegate from that body.

On motion it was voted that Bro. Stone be delegate to the Oxford Quarterly Meeting and Bro. King to the Genesee Quarterly Meeting.

On motion it was voted that the request of the Freemont Church letter be referred to the Business Committee for investigation.

On motion of Bro. Harper it was voted that there be ten cents for resident members per quarter to be devoted to the upbuilding of the cause.

On motion of Bro. Harper a vote was taken that we have an Evangelist committee. Then Bro. Harper made a motion that we proceed to elect an Evangelist committee. This vote was carried and a committee elected as follows: Bros. Harper, King and Mason.


On motion of Bro. Harper it was voted to give North Branch church twenty five dollars from the treasurer.

On motion it was vote that Bro. Stone have full charge of Bro. Williams donations.

Motion to adjourn with Prayer by Bro. King.

Friday evening 7:30 p.m.

Prayer and Praise service led by Bro. King, followed by a sermon by Bro. Norton.

Saturday 8:30 a.m.

Praise service led by Bro. Mason, opened by singing and prayer by Bro. Harper and others. The conference was then called to order by the chair.

On motion of Bro. Batisbee it was voted that Bro. Swailes be clerk and treasurer for the insuing year.

The report of the treasurer was then accepted. The committee on locating of the next Quarterly meeting report and recommend that the next Quarterly meeting be held at the Amadore church.

On motion it was voted that Bro. Harper act as committee on resolutions.

On motion it was voted to put the tent in the hands of the Evangelist committee.

The business committee made a report as follows: Our Bro. R. W. Norton whose request for license is before us withdrew his name preferring rather to establish his work and become more acquainted having just been received into our church and Quarterly meeting.

We therefore as a committee recommend that he be encouraged by Quarterly Meeting and churches in any good work.

We further recommend that the regular Quarterly Meeting collection be given to Bro. Vanwormer for State Work.

Saturday May 11, at 10:30 a.m. the Ministers and Laymans Institute was opened by Bro. King in the usual form.

At 11 a.m. Preaching by Bro. Myers of the Oxford Quarterly Meeting. At 2:30 p.m. Covenant Meeting led by Bro. Swailes after which the Sacrement of the Lord’s Supper was administered by Bros Harper and Thompson. 7:30 Missionary meeting with preaching by Bro. Vanwormer State Agent.

Sabbath morning preaching by Bro. Vanwormer, 2:30 p.m. Young Peoples Meeting led by Bro. King and in the evening preaching by Bro. Harper after which in behalf of the delegates Bro. Harper tended thanks to the Goodland people for their hospitality

Amadore, August 9, 1911

The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the Amadore church on Friday at 2:30 p.m. Conference called to order by the Clerk. On motion Bro. R. O. Thompson was elected chairman meeting opened by reading and prayer by Bro. Battesbee.

The chair then invited all visiting Bretheran and corresponding delegates to set in conference as advising members. Letters were then read from the following churches, (vis) Amadore, Elktown, Clifford, Goodland, North Branch, Pigeon, Freemont Watertown, and Kingston.

A report of delegates to other bodies called for; Bro. Stone reported unable to go to the Oxford Quarterly Meeting. Bro. King reported the Genesee Quarterly Meeting. Bro. Stone made a report of money received for father Williams.

On motion the report was accepted.

A verbal report was given of the Canboro church by Bro. King. Minutes of the last meeting read and approved.

The Evangelist committee made the following report.

Amadore, August 9, 1901

We your committee beg to submit the following. Having considered the Evangelist work in the Quarterly Meeting endeverring to carry out the wishes of the Quarterly Meeting. We have secured the services of Rev. C. W. Eastman for eight months beginning August 1st ending April 1st at rate of $25.00 per month. Those wishing to services of the Evangelist may apply to one of the committee.

We the committee beg your cooperation in Prayer and consecrated effort to make the Evangelistic work a success. Further we your committee have considered the present condition of the tent and find it sadly in need of repair.

On motion the above report was adopted. The chair then appointed the following com: Business committee Bros. Carssart, McWilliams and King. Pulpit committee Sister West, Sister Harper and Bro. Mason.

Locating committee Bros. G. W. Schell, Sanderson, and Howey. Committee on closing resolution, Bro. Norton.

A verbal report of Novesta church was given by Sister Maud Milton.

On motion of Bro. Mason it was voted to give the collection to the Amadore church. Bro Carpenter made a report as delegate from the Oxford Quarterly Meeting.

On motion of Bro. King, Bro. Rosenberger was elected delegate to the Oxford Quarterly Meeting.

On motion Bro. King was elected delegate to the Michigan Association.

Motion to adjourn by singing and prayer by Bro. Carpenter.

Friday evening preaching by Bro. Harper.

Saturday, 10:20 a.m.

Conference called to order by the chair with prayer by Bro. Carssort.

On motion it was voted to take a special collection on Sunday evening for Father Williams. The business committee report as follows:

Amadore, Aug 10, 1901

We the business committee beg leave to bring the following before you. First, since the tent is in need of repairing we recommend that the Evangelist committee be given the privilege of drawing from the Quarterly Meeting treasurer such moneys as necessary to repair the tent. Further we recommend that Pledges be taken following the Evening sermon to night to apply on the Evangelist salary.

The Location committee reported and recommended that the next Quarterly meeting be held with the Canboro church. Motion to adjourn with prayer by Bro. Rosenberger.

At 10:30 am preaching by Bro. Carpenter of Riley Center, Oxford Quarterly Meeting.

Saturday 2:30 p.m. covenant meeting led by Bro. Swailes after which the Sacrement was administered by Bros. Stone and Rosenberger. Saturday evening missionary meeting with preaching by Bro. Stone. Collection $4.24.

Sabbath morning Prayer and Praise service led by Sister Maud Milton. At 10:30 a.m. preaching by Bro. Harper. Sunday 2:30 p.m. Young People’s Meeting led by Sister Harper with Preaching by Bro. Rosenberger. Sunday evening 7:30 p.m. preaching by Bro. Norton.

Sunday collection $4.38.

Canboro Nov 8, 1901

The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the Canboro Church. Meeting called to order by the Clerk and opened by singing and prayer.

On motion Bro. King was elected chairman and read scripture lesson then prayer by Bro. Harper. Letters were read from the following churches vis, Canboro, North Branch, Freemont, Watertown, Kingston, Clifford, Amadore, Oliver, Pigeon, Novesta, and a card from Bro. Mason of Hillsdale. The chair invited all corresponding delegates and visiting brethren to seats in conference as advisory members. The minutes of the last session were read and approved. A report of delegates to other bodies called for by no report.

On motion Bro. King was elected delegate to the Oxford Quarterly Meeting and Bro. Swailes to the Genesee Quarterly Meeting.

On motion it was voted to give the collection to the Quarterly Meeting. The committees were appointed by the chair as follows: Business committee Bros Rosenberger, Sister Chase and Sister Harper. Pulpit committee Bros Collins, Cryel, and Sister Abeel. Locating committee Bro. Austic, Sister Hill and Sister Collins. On closing resolution Bro. Thompson, Harper and Sutphen. Bro. King then made a report as delegate from the Michigan Association. Also a grand talk on the same by Bro. Vanwormer the State agent.

On motion it was voted that the conference adopt the report of the delegates and also the action of the association in regards to ministers license and ordination.

On motion of Bro. Harper it was voted that the Quarterly Meeting take an offering to night for State Work. Motion to adjourn to the call of the chair. Prayer by Bro. Harper. Friday evening preaching by Bro. Vanwormer.

Saturday, 9 a.m. Nov. 9, 1901

Conference called to order by the Chair with prayer by Bro. Thompson.

On motion of Bro. Harper it was voted that Bro. Harper be assistant moderator.

On motion of Sister Chase it was voted that a committee be appointed to draft an article in regards to ministers ordination.

The chair appointed Bros. Vanwormer, Rosenberger and Harper. A report of the Evangelist work was given by Secy King.

On motion of Bro. Eastman it was voted that the Quarterly Meeting ask Bro. King to go to Anedale and hold meeting for a while on a Sunday afternoon until the Evangelist can arrange to hold meetings. Bro Harper then offered his resignation as Evangelist committee which was accepted. On motion of Bro. Eastman it was voted to elect two more members on the committee. Bros Rosenberger and Thompson were elected.

On motion of Bro. Harper it was voted that some time be given to take Pledges for the Evangelist. Motion to adjourn to the call of the chair. Prayer by Bro. Thompson. At 11 a.m. the Ministers and Layman Institute led by Bro. King. At 2:30 p.m. preaching by Bro. Harper and covenant meeting led by Bro. Swailes.

Saturday Evening Missionary meeting Prayer and Praise service led by Sister Harper and Preaching by Bro. Eastman with call. 9 p.m. conference called to order by the chair. The Special Committee reports the following:

1st When the churches belong to this Quarterly Meeting desires to have any of their members licensed or ordained to the ministry they shall make request to the State Committee on the ministry who shall proceed to examine and if advisable licensed or ordain according to the regulations of the State association.

2nd Resolved that we pay the per capita tax mow due the association and general conference out of the Quarterly Meeting treasure. The above was adopted.

On motion it was voted to pay Bro. Eastman the ball of his salary. The Locating Committee report and recommend the next Quarterly Meeting to be held with the Clifford church which was adopted.

On motion to adjourn with singing and prayer by Bro. Rosenberger.
