QUARTERLY MEETINGS

Kingston, Feb 12, 1904

The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the Kingston church on Friday at 2:30 p.m. The conference was called to order by the clerk.

Then on motion Bro. R. O. Thompson was elected chairman of the meeting. The meeting was opened by singing and prayer by Bro. W. Hinzman, Pastor of the Kingston church. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Letters were read from the following churchs, vis, Kingston, Amadore, Goodland, Clifford, North Branch, Novesta, Watertown and Freemont.

The chair then appointed the following committees: Business committee, Bro. Patent, Sister Chase and Bro. Shaw. Pulpit committee Bro. Michal Hunter, Sister Ale Barrett and Sister Calkings. Locating committee Bro. Ross, Sister Chase and Sister Mckenzie.

A report of delegates to other bodies called for but no report. Then a report from delegates from other bodies and no report. A communication was received from Bro. S.S. Rosenberger requesting his name be taken from the Evangelist committee as he was unable to attend to it. On motion his request was granted. Then on motion it was voted that Bro. R. O. Thompson be a member of the Evangelist committee.

On motion it was voted to give the collection to the Kingston church.

Motion to adjourn to the call of the chair with prayer by Bro. Swailes. Friday evening preaching by Bro. R. O. Thompson.

Saturday, Feb 13, 1904

Conference called to order by the chair. At 10:30 with prayer by Bro. Ross. A report of committees called for:

Committee on location reported that they recommend the next Quarterly Meeting to be held at Clifford. On motion it was so voted.

On motion it was voted to give the Kingston Church twenty five dollars from the Quarterly Meeting treasurer.

The matter of Father Williams was then discussed and on motion it was voted to give Father Williams five dollars from the Q. M. treasurer and a collection was taken to the amount of $12.00.

Motion to adjourn. Prayer by Bro. R. O. Thompson.

At 11 a.m. preaching by Bro W. Hinzman. Saturday 2:30 p.m. a general covenant meeting led by Bro. J. H. Swailes. Saturday evening Woman Missionary Meeting with Program. Sabbath morning 9:00 a.m. Sabbath School. At 10:00 a.m. preaching by Bro. W. Hinzman and at 2:30 p.m. Young Peoples meeting and at 7:30 p.m. preaching by Bro. R. O. Thompson.

Clifford, May 6, 1904.

The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the Clifford church. At 2:30 p.m. conference was called to order by the clerk.

On motion Bro. Hopkins was elected chairman. The meeting was opened by reading scripture lesson the 24 Psalm, with singing and prayer by Bro. Hinzman of Kingston.

The minutes of the last conference was read and approved. Letters were then read from the following churches, vis, Amadore, Clifford, Watertown, North Branch, Novesta, Kingston Pigeon River, Goodland and Oliver.

On motion it was voted that the chair appoint the committees which was as follows:

Business committee, Bros Hinzman, Sister Calking and Bro. Swailes. Pulpit committee Bro. George Sharp, Sister Smith, Sister Patant. The Locating committee, Bro. Thompson, Sister Harder and Bro. Francis.

On motion it was voted that Bro J. H. Swailes be clerk and treasurer for the coming year with a vote of thanks from work done in the past.

On motion of Bro. Thompson it was voted that the request of the Kingston church letter for the ordination of Bro. W. Hinzman be referred to the State Committee.

On motion it was voted that morning collection be given to Father Williams.

On motion of Bro. Vandewalker and supported by Bro Thompson it was voted that the chair appoint a committee of three to examine Bro. Francis of Novesta for license. As was requested in the Novesta church letter the chair then appointed as such committee. Bro. R. O. Thompson, N. Vandewalker and Bro. W. Hinzman.

The Locating committee reported and recommended that the next session of the Quarterly Meeting be held with the Amadore church. Voted as recommended.

Motion to adjourn to the call of the chair. Prayer by Bro. R. O. Thompson. Friday evening preaching by Bro. N. Vandewalker.

Saturday, May 7, 1904.

Saturday, 10:30 a.m. preaching by Bro. R.O. Thompson. Saturday 2 p.m. conference called to order by the chair with singing and prayer by Bro. N. Vandewalker.

On motion of Bro. R. W. Freese it was voted to rescind the previous vote on the collection. Then on motion it was voted to give one half of the collection to the State work and the other half to Father Williams.

The special committee appointed to examine Bro. Francis for license made their that the examination was favorable and referred him to the State committee on the ministry.

Motion to adjourn. Prayer by Bro. J. A. Swailes, then at 2:30 p.m. a general covenant meeting led by Bro. Swailes after which the Lord’s Supper was administered by Bros Freese and Hopkins.

Saturday 7:30 missionary meeting with an address by Bro. Hinzman. Sabbath 10:30 a.m. preaching by Bro. W. P. Vanwomer. Sabbath 2:30 p.m. Young People’s meeting. Sabbath evening 7:30 p.m. preaching by Bro. W. P. Vanwarmer.

Amadore, August 12, 1904

The Sanilac Quarterly meeting convened with the Amadore church on Friday at 2:30 p.m. Conference called to order by the clerk.

On motion Bro. R. O. Thompson was elected chairman of the meeting. The conference was opened by singing and reading scripture lesson with prayer by Bro. Freese. The minutes of the last conference were read and approved. Then letters were read from the following churches, vis, Amadore, North Branch, Pigeon River, Goodland, Watertown, 1st Novesta, Freemont, and Kingston.

The chair then appointed the following committees: Business committee Bros R. W. Freese, N. Vandewalker and W. Backhouse Pulpit committee, Sister Mason, Sister Thompson, and Sister McWilliams. Location committee Bro. Niles Sister Broadway and Sister Chase. Committee on resolutions, Bro. R. W. Freese.

The chair invited all corresponding delegates and visiting Bretheren to seats in conference as advisory members. The evangelist committee reported the work as being favorable and on motion it was voted that the chairman of the committee be instructed to draw an order on the treasurer for the Evangelist pay.

On motion of Bro. Freese it was voted that the collection on Sunday be given one half to the State work and one half to Father Williams.

On motion it was voted that R. W. Freese be a delegate to the Michigan Association and Bro. N. Vandewalker alternate.

On motion it was voted that Bro. Nathan Shell be corresponding delegate to the Oxford Quarterly Meeting. Then moved to adjourn to the call of the chair, with prayer by Bro. N. Vandewalker. Friday evening preaching by Bro. Sutherland the Evangelist.

Saturday 9 a.m. August 13.

Prayer and Praise service led by Bro. Sutherland. At 10:00 a.m. the Woman Misisonary Business meeting then at 10:30 a.m. conference called to order by the chair. Opened by prayer by Bro. George Corssart. The committee on location made their report and recommend that the next meeting be held with the North Branch church.

On motion it was so voted.

On motion of Bro. Freese it was voted that the clerk be instructed to write to Dr. Reed of Hillsdale to be present at the next session of the Quarterly Meeting.

Motion to adjourn with prayer by Bro. Sutherland.

11 a.m preaching by Bro. Freese Saturday 2 p.m. a general covenant meeting led by Bro. J. H. Swailes after which the Lord’s Supper was administered by Bros. Freese and Vandewalker. Saturday 7:30 p.m. Missionary Meeting with an address by Bro. Sutherland with collection. Sabbath 9:30 Sabbath School. 10:30 preaching by Bro. Freese. 2:30 p.m. Young People’s meeting by Bro. Sutherland. Sabbath evening Preaching by Bro. Vandewalker.

North Branch, Nov 11, 1904

The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the North Branch church on Friday at 2:30 p.m. with a good delegation. Meeting opened by singing and reading scripture with prayer by Bro. Walter Hinzman of Kingston church followed by singing then on motion Bro. R. W. Frees was elected chairman of the conference prayer by Bro. Sutherland. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Letters were read from the following churches, (vis) North Branch, Clifford, Kingston, Goodland, Freemont, Novesta, Watertown, and Armadore.

On motion it was voted that the Q.M. adopt the Program presented. Then the following committees were appointed by the chair: Business committee Bro. W. Hinzman, Sister Ella Daton and Nathan Shell. Pulpit committee Sister Ethel McCalop, Sister McPherson, Sister Alice Swailes. Locating committee Bro. William Swailes, Bro. Mason, and Sister Redman. A report of the corresponding delegation to the Oxford Q. M. called for but no report. Then a report of the delegate to the Michigan association was given by Bro. Frees and report accepted. Eld Scott of the P. Methodist Church was present and was introduced to the conference.

On motion it was voted that all members present from churches not having fall delegation consider themselves delegates.

On it was voted to give the collection to Father Williams.

Motion to adjourn with prayer by J. L. Towner of Mayville.

Friday evening preaching by Bro. J. L. Towner of Mayville.

Saturday 8:30 a.m. Nov 12, 1904.

Devotional services was held led by Sister Ella Datan

At 10:30 a.m. conference called to order by the chair of the Woman Missionary Society. Then at 11:00 a.m. a lecture by Dr. Reed of Hillsdale. At 1:30 p.m. devotional service by R.O. Thompson. At 2 p.m. lecture by Dr. Reed. At 3:00 p.m. a general covenant meeting by Bro. J. H. Swailes with 84 testimonies in 60 minutes.

The committee reported the next Q.M. to be held with the Novesta church.

Adjourned with prayer by Bro. Sutherland.

Saturday evening devotional services by Sister C.J. McKibben of North Branch. At 8:00 p.m. Missionary Meeting by Dr. Reed. Sunday morning 9:30 a.m. fellowship meeting by Bro. Barnes. At 10:30 a.m. preaching by Dr. D. B. Reed after which the Lord’s Supper was administered by Bro. W. Hinzman of Kingston and N. Vandewalker of Brown City. At 2:30 p.m. Young Peoples meeting by Laya Sutherland. 6:30 p.m. Christian endeavor by Sutherland. 7:30 p.m. sermon by Dr. D. B. Reed.
