QUARTERLY MEETINGS

1905

Novesta, February 10, 1905.

The Sanilac Quarterly meeting convened with the Novesta church at 2:30 p.m. In the absence of the clerk the meeting was called to order by R. O. Thompson of Amadore and opened by reading scripture by Bro. Hinzman of Kingston with prayer by four present.

On motion it was voted that Bro. R. O. Thompson act as chairman of the meeting and Bro. Hinzman clerk, pro tem. Letters were received from the following churches, vis, Novesta, Kingston, Watertown, Goodland, Amadore, Oliver, Clifford, and Freemont.

On motion it was voted that the chair appoint the committees as follows: Locating committee, Bro. Hinzman, Collins and McWilliams. Pulpit committee Bro. Holcomb, Morrick and Prichitt.

On motion the Sunday collection was given to Father Williams.

Pulpit committee reported that Bro. Thompson would preach Friday evening.

Moved to adjourn.

Saturday morning , Feb 11, 1905, meeting called to order by the chair. The Locating committee report and recommend the next Quarterly Meeting to be held with the Watertown church. Moved to adjourn.

Watertown, May 12, 1905

The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the Watertown church on Friday at 2:30p.m.

In the absent of the clerk the meeting was called to order by Bro. R. A. Thompson.

On motion Bro. N. Vandewalker was elected chairman of the meeting and Bro. Walter Hinzman clerk pro tem.

The meeting was opened by singing and prayer by chairman. The chairman then appointed the different committees. Business, Pulpit, and Locating and resolution committees.

Motion to give Sunday morning collection to Elder Vanwarmer voted contrary.

Motion to give collection to Elder Williams, voted favorable.

On motion it was voted to take a collection Sunday Evening for State associational work.

Motion to adjourn.

May 10, 1905.

Reading of minutes.

On motion it was voted to pay Elder Vanwormer traveling expenses .

On motion it was voted to reconsider the motion of giving the Sunday evening collection to associational work and give it to Elder Vanwarmer personally instead.

Move to adjourn.

On motion it was voted to hold the next Q.M. with the Pigeon River church.

Pigeon River, August 11, 1905

The Sanilace Quarterly meeting convened with the Pigeon River church at 3 p.m. Conference called to order by the clerk. On motion Bro. E. Sutphen was elected chairman and opened the meeting by singing and reading and prayer by Bro. Simmons of Clifford.

The minutes of the last meeting was read and approved. Letters were read from the following churches, vis, Pigeon, Freeman, Oliver, Clifford, Goodland, Amadore, Kingston, and Novesta.

The chair was instructed to appoint his assistant.

On motion it was voted that all church members not delegates be asked to take part in conference. The chair then appointed the following committees. Business, Bro. Hinzman, Simmons and Vandewalker. Pulpit committee Bro. Finkle, Sister Ward, and Sister Vorhees. Location committee Sister Collins, Bro. Sanderborn, and Sister Pringle.

On motion it was voted that Bro. J. H. Swailes be elected clerk and treasurer for the balance of the year.

On motion it was voted that the Sunday collection be given to the Novesta church.

Then on motion it was voted that twenty five dollars be given the Novesta church for building purposes from the Quarterly Meeting treasurer.

Motion to adjourn to the call of the chair. Prayer by Bro. Vandewalker. Friday evening preaching by Bro. Hinzman of Kingston.

Saturday, August 12, 1905

Conference called to order by the chairman with prayer by Bro. O. B. Ansted of Amador. The locating committee reported and recommended that the next Quarterly Meeting be held with the Goodland church. Voted as recommended. Voted as recommended.

On motion Bro. O. B. Ansted was elected delegate to the Michigan association.

On motion. it was voted to adjourn with prayer by Bro. Walter P. Hinzman of Kingston.

At 2;30 p.m. a general covenant meeting led by Bro. J. H. Swailes. The Lord’s Supper following. Saturday evening Missionary Meeting with preaching by Bro. Vandewalker of Brown City. Sunday 9 a.m. Prayer and Praise service led by Bro. Ansted. 10:30 a.m. preaching by Bro. Simmons of Clifford. At 2;30 p.m. young Peoples meeting by Bro. Ansted. Sunday evening at 7:30 preaching by Bro. Willerton, a regular Baptist from Novesta. Sunday collection $10.06.

Goodland, Nov 10, 1905

The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the Goodland church. Conference called to order by the clerk at 2;30 P.M. On motion Bro. N. P. Vandewalker was elected chairman of the meeting and opened the conference by singing reading scripture lesson and prayer by Bro. O. B. Ansted of Amadore. The minutes of the last meeting were read and letters were read from the following churches, (vis) Goodland, North Branch, Novesta, Watertown, Amadore, and Pigeon River churches.

On motion the chair was instructed to appoint the committees: Business and Location committee Sister Amsted, Bro. Broadway, and Sister Garese. Pulpit committee Sister Pringle, Bro. McWilliams and Sister Chase. Bro O. B. Ansted delegate to the Michigan association made his report which was quite lengthy.

On motion it was voted to give the Sunday morning collection to Father Williams. Bro. Murry then made a report of the funds and resigning the care of the funds of the Father Williams which was expected.

Then on motion it was voted that Bro. Mason have the charge of the funds collected for Father Williams.

Motion to adjourn to the call of the chair. Singing and prayer by Bro. Vandewalker. Friday evening. Preaching by Bro. O. B. Ansted.

Saturday, Nov 11, 1905

The conference was called to order by the chair at 10:30 a.m. with singing and pray by Bro. Swailes.

Bro. Ansted then presented a bill for expenses to the Michigan association of Six dollars and twenty five ($6.25) which was allowed and paid.

On motion Sister Pringle was elected delegate to the Oxford Quarterly Meeting. The Locating committee made there report and recommend that the next Quarterly Meeting be held with the Kingston church. On motion it was adopted. The Business committee offered the following resolutions (vis)

First We recommend that the Pastors or one of the members of the church where the Quarterly Meeting is to be held shall be the chairman of the pulpit committee.

Second That the Woman Missionary Society of the Quarterly Meeting appoint one member

Third That the Quarterly Meeting elect on member of the committee

Fourth That the Quarterly Meetingand the Womans Missionary Society elect their members of the committee at this Quarterly Meeting to act for the coming Quarterly Meeting. Bro. Ansted and Sister Goriel Committee

On motion the above resolution was adopted . The Quarterly meeting then elected Bro.

J.H. Swailes as one of that committee.

Moved to adjourn with prayer by Bro. Pane of Brown City.

Saturday at 2 p.m.

A general covenant meeting led by Bro. J. H. Swailes in the meeting about fifty took part in. The Lord’s Supper followed administered by Bro. Pane of Brown City and Bros Simmons of Clifford.

Saturday Evening the Missionary Society held meeting with preaching by Rev. Pane. Sabbath morning 10:30 preaching by Bro. Simmons of Clifford. Sabbath at 2;30 p.m. young Peoples meeting by. Sabbath evening 7:30 preaching by Bro.
