Novesta , February 9, 1906

The Sanilac Quarterly meeting convened with the Novesta church on Friday at 3 p.m. in the absence of the clerk the meeting was called to order and opened by singing and prayer Then on motion Bro. John Willerton was elected chairman of the meeting and Bro. E. Sutphen clerk pro tem, and Bro. F. Simmons assistant chairman. Letters were read from the following churches (vis) Novesta, Pigeon River, Watertown, Oliver, Goodland, Kingston, and Clifford. Then the following committee was appointed, vis, Business committee Bros. N. P. Vandewalker, Atwell, and Willerton.

On motion ti was voted to hold the next Quarterly meeting with the Kingston church.

On motion it was voted to give the Sunday collection to the Novesta church.

Moved to adjourn to the call of the chair. Friday evening preaching by Bros. F. Simmons of Clifford.

Saturday 10:00 a.m. conference called to order and opened by Prayer.

On motion it was voted that all the money in the treasurer hands but ten dollars be given to Novesta church to be applied on church debt.

On motion it was voted that the Pulpit committee shall consist of the Pastor and any two of his members he may chose of the churches where the Quarterly meeting is held.

Moved to adjourn,

Saturday 2. p.m. a general covenant meeting led by Bro. Simmons. Saturday evening meeting

Sunday at 10:30 a.m. the new house of worship which was built to replace the one destroyed by cyclone on June the fifth 1905 was consecrated to the worship of God. The Rev. E. Sutphen of Elkton preached the dedicatory sermon after which a subscription and collection was taken amounting to $418.08. Sunday afternoon Young People’s meeting. Sunday evening preaching Vandewalker.

Kingston, May 11, 1906

The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the Kingston church at 2:30 p.m. The conference was called to order by the clerk and on motion Br. O. B. Ansted of Amadore was elected chairman of the meeting and opened the conference by singing and repeating the 23 Psalm with prayer by Bro. E. Sutphen of Elkton. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Letters read from the following churches, (vis), Novesta, Kingston, Clifford, North Branch, Amadore, Freemont, Goodland, and Watertown, with verbal report from Pigeon, Oliver, and Canboro by Bro. Sutphen. The chair was then instructed to appoint the committees: Business and Locating committee Bros. Simmons, Sutphen, and Willerton. The chair then enacted all corresponding delegates and visiting Brethren to seats in conference as advisory members.

Bro. Meyers the State agent being present was called and made some good remarks on State work. Bro. Pain of Brown City reported to the conference that the Huron District of Regular Baptist would meet in Brown City on the third Tuesday in June and request the Quarterly Meeting to send one delegate from each church to meet with that body.

Motion to adjourn to the call of the chair with prayer by Bro. Boynton of the Oxford Quarterly meeting.

Saturday, May 12, 1906

Saturday 9 a.m. conference called to order by the chair. Opened by singing and prayer by Bro. Willerton of Novesta. The Business committee report and recommend that the next Quarterly Meeting be held with the Amadore church. Also recommend the acceptance of Bro Paine’s cordial invitation to attend or elect delegates from each church to their association and recommend the Sunday morning collection be given to State Work.

On motion Bro. J. H. Swales was elected clerk and treasurer for one year.

On motion it was voted that the Pastor of the church where the Q.M> is held appoint the member on the Pulpit committee.

Bro. Boynton of the Oxford Q. M. corresponding delegate made a very nice report of that body. Then singing, "Blest Be The Tie That Binds" adjourned to the call of the church. At 10:30 a.m. preaching by Bro Simmons of Clifford. At 2:30 p.m. a general covenant meeting led by Bro. J. H. Swailes after which the Lord Supper was administered by Bros. Pain and Simmons.

Saturday evening missionary meeting with Program led by Sister J. O. Paton of Kingston with address by Bro. Myers of Hillsdale with a collection of $4.55.

Sunday 9 a.m. Sabbath school. At 10:30 preaching by Bro. J. Willerton of Novesta. Sunday 2:30 p.m. Young People’s meeting and in the evening preaching by Bro. O. B. Ansted of Amadore. Sunday collection $3.15.

Amadore, August 10, 1906

The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with Amadore Church. Conference called to order by the clerk. Then on motion, Bro. O. B. Ansted was elected chairman of the meeting. Conference opened by singing and a number of short prayers, then singing. The minutes of the last conference was read and approved. Letters were read from the following churches, vis, Amadore, Novesta, Oliver, Clifford, Pigeon, Watertown, North Branch, Kingston, and Goodland.

On motion it was voted to hold the next Quarterly meeting with the North Branch church.

Then on motion it was voted that Bro. O. B. Ansted be elected on the Pulpit committee.

On motion it was voted that the Sunday collection go for State work.

On motion it was voted that Bro. Fred Simmons and Bro. Nathan Shell be delegates to the Michigan association and Bro. Siles Elethorp be delegate to the Oxford Quarterly Meeting.

The on motion it was voted that a collection be taken Sunday even for Father Willams.

Saturday, August 11, 1906

The conference called to order by the chair. Meeting opened by singing and prayer by Bro. R. O. Thompson of Avondale, followed by others. Then singing at nine o clock a.m. after reading some letters. Moved to adjourn to give time for Missionary meeting.

At 11 a.m. preaching a doctrinal sermon by Bro. Fred Simmons of Clifford.

Saturday at 2:30 p.m. covenant meeting led by Bro. J. H. Swailes after which the Lord’s Supper was administered by Bros. Simmons and Curry.

Saturday evening Missionary Meeting, preaching by Bro. R. O. Thompson of Avondale with collection.

Sabbath 9:30 a.m. Sabbath School followed by Praise service led by Bro. W. Osborn. At 10:30 a.m. preaching by Bro. E. Sutphen. 2:30 p.m. Young People’s meeting led by Prof. Haroy of Hillsdale. Sunday evening preaching by Bro. Fred Simmons of Clifford. Sunday collection, six dollars.

North Branch, Nov 9, 1906

The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the North Branch church Friday, 2:30 p.m. Meeting called to order by the clerk and opened by singing and prayer by Bro. Nathan Shell and others short prayers. Then on motion Bro. F. Simmons was elected chairman of the meeting. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Letters were read from the following churches, vis, North Branch, Amadore, Novesta, Kingston, Pigeon River and Watertown, with verbal reports from Oliver and Clifford. On motion it was voted that all members present from the church be considered as delegates.

A report of the delegates from the Michigan association was called for and reported by Bro Simmons and Bro Shell. Some good remarks were made by Bro. Pain of Brown City. Report of corresponding delegates called for. Bro. John Tree of the Oxford Q. M. made a good report of that Body.

On motion it was voted that the bills of the delegates to Michigan Association be allowed.

On motion it was voted that Sister Ida Frees be the corresponding delegate to the Oxford Quarterly Meeting.

Motion to adjourn to the call of the chair with prayer by Bro. N. Vandewalker.

Friday evening preaching by Bro. Fieldes of Watertown.

Saturday, Nov 10, 1906.

Conference called to order at 9:30 a.m. by the chair and opened by singing and prayer. Bro. Fields made a verbal report of the Watertown church. The bills of the association delegates were presented as follows: Bro. N. Shell Bill $2.59 and Bro. F. Simmons bill $2.05. As there was no request for the next Q.M. on motion it was voted that a committee of one be appointed to locate the next Q.M. and also to be on the pulpit committee. Bro. A. B. Ansted was appointed as such committee. On motion of Bro. Ansted it was voted that the pastors of the various churches when elected delegates to the Q.M. shall have full power to vote in conference. The following request was presented as follows.

We the undersigned would respectfully request that this body take under consideration the proposition of changing the time of holding Quarterly Meetings to a moonlight schedule. N. Shell, Mrs. Maul and F. Simmons.

Motion to adjourn. Prayer by Bro. Simmons. The missionary society met at 10:30 a.m. 11 am. Preaching by Bro. Pain of Brown City. At 1:30 p.m. preaching by Bro. John Wilerton of Argail, followed by a general covenant meeting led by Bro. J. H. Swailes. The Lord’s Supper was administered following by Bros Pain and Ansted. Saturday evening the missionary Society held a meeting with preaching by Bro John Tree of the Oxford Quarterly meeting and a collection of $6.00.

Nov 10, 1906, Saturday evening 9 p.m.

The conference was called to order by the chair for the finishing up of business.

On motion of Sister Collins it was voted that the collection Sunday morning be given to the North Branch church.

On motion of Bro Shell it was voted that the clerk announce in the Star the coming Quarterly Meeting.

Adjourned with prayer.

Sabbath morning 9:30 a.m a Prayer and Praise service led by Sister E. Ward. At 10:30 a.m preaching by Bro. Vandewalker. Then at 2:30 p.m. an Echo Meeting of the Michigan association by the delegates. At 7:30 p.m. preaching by Bro. A. B. Amsted of Amadore. Morning collection $6.70.
