Watertown, Feb 8, 1907 The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the Watertown Church at 2:00 p.m. Converence opened by the Rev. O. B. Ansted in the absence of the clerk. Rev. R. Simmons was chosen clerk protem. Re. R. J. Fields was chosen chairman. Letters from Amadore, Novesta, Oliver, and Watertown churches were read. Bro. N. Vandewalker gave a verbal report of the Goodland church. Rev. F. Simmons gave a verbal report of the Clifford and North Branch churches. Rev. A. B. Ansted gave a verbal report of the Freemont church. Motion was made and seconded that the time of holding the Quarterly Meeting be changed to the Sunday preceeding the first full moon in Feb, May, August and November. After discussions motion carried. Motion was made and seconded that Rev. F. Simmons write a notice of the meeting and the change of time of holding the Q. M. in the Star. Motion carried. Motion was made and seconded that the Q. M. dues be given for State Work. After discussion question was dropped. Motion was made and seconded that the Sunday morning collecton be given to Father Williams. Motion carried. Motion was made and seconded that members of churches present and in good standing be chosen to fill vacanicies. Motion carried. Motion to adjourn to the call of the chair was made and seconded. Motion carried. Evening session, Rev. A. B. Ansted led in short song service and a season of prayer. Bro. N. Vandewalker preached from St John 4-14. The water which Christ gave was as a well within. Religion was not something on which to hang but something within. After which 50 spoke and gave testimony concerning the fullness of this well of Salvation. Saturday a.m. business meeting was called by the chair. Letters from Kingston, church was read. 2nd Oliver church requested the next Q. M. which was granted. Motion was made and seconded that Sister Ward act as Pulpit committee for the next session. Bro. G. W. Myers State agent being present spoke concerning church letters which should contain news concerning the general working of the church and gave news concerning State work. Motion and seconded to adjourn. Motion carried. The Sister Ward took charge of the Woman Missionary society meeting. After which Rev. A. B. Ansted preached form Romans 10: 9-10, the only duty and privilege of public profession. 1st we should confess Christ in public because we are commanded to do, 2nd because we love him, 3rd because the church needs these testimonies, 4th for the benefit of the world, 5th for the good of the individual. Afternoon session, after a song service led by Bro.Ansted, Bro. Myers spoke about State apportionment and business in the churches. Then led the Quarterly covenant meetin in which 54 took part. The sacriment of the Lords Supper was observed. Bros. Vandewalker and Simmons in charge. Sat. even, Sister Ward took charge of the Womans Missionary meeting. Bro. G. W. Myers gave a talk on State Missions, also home work at large then of the work in Alaska, Africa and India, which was instruction, interesting and inspiring. Sunday a.m. Bro. Vandewalker led the devotional meeting 48 gave witness for Christ after which, Rev. F. Simmons spoke upon the Spirit of unrest taking the Parable of the Prodigal Son as a foundation. Collection of $4.71, which Bro. Vandewalker took to Bro. Williams. Sunday p.m. after a song service Rev. Abram Osborn preached from Matthew 17: 5, "this is my beloved son hear ye him." God was pleased with Christ because he was pure. Obedient because he led a life of prayer, sacrifice, patience helpfulness. Hear ye him because he spoke with authority. Christ our pattern. Then Rev. F. Simmons led a conference meeting for speaking. Sun even after song service Bro G. W. Nyers read on Essay on life. What is thy life and spoke to the young people then organized a c. E. society with Mrs. Geo Barrett As President, Mr. Bruce Brown Sec. Miss Mary Prichett Tres, Mr. Robert Johnson corresponding sec, then Bro. Myers after inquiries concerning Bro. Vanwarner told of his condition. Bro. Vandewalker took up a collection for Bro.Vanwarner of $10.00 thus closed one of the best sessions of the Sanilac Q. M. All with harty farwell went home feeling it was good to be there. Fred Simmons, Clerk, Protem. Oliver, May 17, 1907 The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the Oliver Church. Conference called to order by the clerk. Then on motion Bro. E. Sutphen was elected chairman and opened the conference by reading scripture and prayer. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Letters were read from the following churches, vis, 2nd Oliver, North Branch, Kingsotn, Watertown, Novesta, and Amadore. The chair then invited all corresponding delegates and visting Brethren to seats in conference as advisory members. On motion it was voted that the chair appoint the committees which are as follows. Business committee, Bros John Willerton, Halcom, and Fields. On the Pulpit committee Sister C. Chase. On the Locating committee Sister Collins, Bro. J. Sutphen and Bro. Halcom. On motion it was voted to put the Quarterly Meeting collection in the treasury. On motion it was voted that Bro. J. H. Swailes be elected clerk and treasuer for one year. On motion of Sister Chase and supported by Bro. Fields that the Quarterly Meeting cancel the back dues of the churches. Move to adjourn to the call of the chair with prayer by Bro. John Willerton of Novesta church. Friday evening preaching by Bro. John Willerton with a testamony meeting following. May 18, 1907 Saturday 9:30 a.m. conference called to order by the chairman meeting opened by singing and prayer by Bro. Travour of the M. P. church. Then Bro. Ansted gave a verbal repor of the Freemont church. The locating committee report and recommend that the next Quarterly meeting be held with the Kingston church. It was so voted. Moved to adjourn with prayer by Bro. Ansted of Amadore. The Woman Mission society called their meeting to order. Mrs. Ward in the chair. Sister Patan was elected Pulpit committee for the W.M.S. for next Quarterly Meeting. At 10:30 a.m. preaching by Bro. Ansted of Amadore. Saturday 2:30 p.m. a general covenant meeting led by Bro. J. H. Swailes, after which the Lords Supper was administered by Bros Ansted and Willerton. Saturday evening W.M. meeting with preaching by Bro. Fields of Watertown with collection of $4.25. Sunday 10 a.m. prayer and praise services by Bro. Fields. 10:30 am preaching by Bro. John Willerton of Novesta. Sabbath 2:30 p.m. Young Peoples meeting by Bro. Ansted. Sabbath evening preaching by Bro Travour of the M. P. church, after which a collection for Father Williams was taken of $2.25. Sunday collection $1.76. J. H. Swailes, Clerk. Kingston, August 16, 1907
The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the Kingston church. Conference called to order by the clerk. On motion Bro. Eugene Sutphen was elected chairman and opened the meeting by reading scripture and singing with prayer Br. Boynton of the Oxford Quarterly Meeting. Letters were read from the following churches vis Amadore, North Goodland, North Branch, Pigeon River, Novesta, Watertown, Kingston and Clifford. Minutes of the last meeting read and approved. On motion it was voted that the chair appoint the committees. The chair appointed Bro. A. B. Ansted assistant Chairman. On business committee Bros. Willerton, Ansted, and Sanderson. Committee on location of the next Quarterly meeting, Bro. McWilliams, Sister Chase and Bro. Sanderson. The chair invited all visiting Brethren to seats in conference as advisory members. On motion it was voted that Sister Chase be a member of the Pulpit committee for the next Quarterly meeting. Bro. Ansted made a verbal report of the Freemont church. Bro. L. D. Boynton of the Oxford Quarterly Meeting as corresponding delegate being present made a very good report of that body. On motion it was voted that Bro. Sutphen be delegate to the Oxfore Quarterly Meeting. On motion it was voted that the Sunday collection be given to Bro. Williams. On motion it was voted that Bro. A. B. Ansted and Bro. Eugene Sutphen be delegates to the Michigan association. Moved and supported that the Quarterly Meeting give the Kingston church fifty dollars. On motion voted to table the above motion till tomorrow morning. Motion to adjourn to the call of the chair with prayer by Br. Ansted. Friday, evening preaching by Bro. McDeen of Bad Axe with testimony meeting following. Saturday 9 a.m. August 17, 1907 Conference called to the Order by the chair. Meeting opened by singing and prayer by Bro. W. P. Hinzman. On motion it was voted to reopen the matter of church proposenment to the business committee. The matter of giving Kingston church fifty dollars was taken from the table and after discussion for and against, on motion it was voted that it be tabled indefinitely. Motion to adjourn to the call of the chair with prayer by Bro. Sutphen. The Woman Missionary Society was then called to order by Sister Ward as the chair and elected Sister Patton on the pulpit committee for the next Quarterly Meeting. At 10:30 a.m. preaching by Bro. Thornton of Mayville. At 2 p.m. the meeting was called to order by the chair with singing and prayer by Bro. Willerton. Then Bro. Ansted took charge of the meeting in the interest of the Young People. At 2:30 pm. the conference was called to order by the chair, prayer by Bro. E. Sutphen. The Locating committee reported and recommend that the next Quarterly Meeting be held with Freemont church. On motion it was so voted. The Business committee then made the following report. Report of the Business Committee of the Sanilac Q. M. First We recommend that the Q. M. elect a missionary committee of one.
John Willerton, A. B. Ansted Wm. Sanderson, committee. On motion it was voted to take it up by section, which was done and all four resolutions adopted. On motion it was voted that N. Vandewalker be the missionary committee with A. B. Ansted as alternate. Adjourned to the call of the chair. Prayer by E. Sutphen, after which a general covenant meeting led by Bro. Hinzman of Brown City followed by the Lords Supper by Bros L. D. Boynton of the Oxford Q. M. and Bro. J. Willerton of Novesta. Saturday evening W.M. Society by sister Stone of Battle Creek, Mich. Sunday 9:30 S. School. 10:30 Preaching by Bro. Boynton. Afternoon Young People Meeting by A. B. Ansted. Sunday evening preaching by Bro. Waterton. Collection $ 10.25.
Freemont, Nov 15, 1907 The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the Freemont church at 3. p.m. Conference called to the order by the clerk. On momtion Bro. A. B. Ansted was elected chairman and opened the meeting by singing and reading and prayer by Bro. E. Sutphen. The minutes of the last meeting were then read and approved. Letters were then read from the following churches, vis, Amadore, Freemont, Kingston, Goodland, and Watertown. A report called from form corresponding delegates to other bodies. Bro. Sutphen made a report as delegate to the Oxford Q. M. in August. Bro. Kelley being present as corresponding delegate from the Qxford Q. M. was called for and made a good report of that body. Bro. A. B. Ansted reported for the mission committee and reported that they were unable to secure an Evangelist for the Quarterly Meeting. On motion it was voted that the chair appoint the committees as such the chair apponted a business committee consisting of Sister Ward, Bro. H. Keeler, and Bro. Sutphen and referred the Locating of the next Q. M. to that committee. Motion to adjourn to the call of chair. Prayer by A. B. Ansted. Friday evening preaching by Bro. A. Arsbourn of Melvin, regular Baptist. Saturday 9 a.m. a prayer service led by Bro. Sutphen in which good number took part. Nov 16, 1907. Saturday at 9:30 a.m. conference was called to order by the chair and opened by prayer by Bro. Henry Keeler. On motion it was voted that Bro. McWilliams be a member of the Pulpit committee for the next Quarterly Meeting. Motion to adjourn. Prayer by Bro. Shell. The Womans Mission Society was then called to order by Sister Ward with reading and prayer by Bro. A. B. Ansted. Sister Ward was then elected a member of the Pulpit committee for the next Q. M. At 11 a.m. preaching by Bro. R. J. Fields of Watertown, and at 2 p.m. a general covenant meeting led by Bro. J. H. Swailes, after which the Lords Supper was administered by Bros Sutphen and Osborn. Then the conference was called to order by the chair with prayer by Bro. Ansted. The business committee recommend the next Quarterly Meeting to be held with the Watertown church. On motion it was voted to give the Sunday collection to the Freemont church. On motion it was voted that the Quarterly meeting discharge the Old Mission committee and that Sister Ward have charge of the mission work in the north part of the Q. M. On motion it was voted that if Sister Ward could secure the services of Bro. Traver to preach to the Oliver , Pigeon River, and Canboro churches that the Quarterly Meeting would pay fifteen dollars per month for four months on his salary. On motion it was voted that Bro. E. Sutphen be the corresponding delegate to the Oxford Quarterly Meeting. Motion to adjourn with prayer by Bro. E. Sutphen. Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. the Woman Missionary Society meeting was held with preaching by Bro. E. Sutphen. Sabbath morning at 9. a.m. a Prayer and Praise service was held by Bro. A Osborn. At 10:30 a.m. preaching by Bro. R. J. Fields. At 2:30 p.m. the Young Peoples meeting was held with Program and led by Bro. A. B. Ansted. At 7:30 p.m. in the evening preaching by Bro. E.
