Novesta, Feb 18, 1910 The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the Novesta church in the absence of the clerk the meeting was called to order by Bro. Upper with prayer by Bro. Willerton. On motion Bro. Willerton was elected chairman and Bro.E. A. Backus clerk, pro tem. Letters were read from the following churches, vis, Novesta, Freemont, Lamotte, Watetown, Kingston, and North Branch. On motion it was voted that the chair appoint the committee. On motion it was voted that we unite the Business and Locating committees. The chair then appointed the following committee; Bro. Wm McWilliams, Sister Ethel McCellp, and Sister Darnton. On motion it was voted that Sister Ethel McKellop be a member of the Pulpit committee for the next session of the Quarterly Meeting. On motion it was voted that the Sunday morning collection be given to the Novesta Church. Friday evening Preaching by Pro Preston. Meeting open by singing, scripture lession read by Bro. Willerton. Saturday morning Prayer and Song service led by Bro. Willerton. At 10:30 a.m. the missionary meeting opened for business by prayer by Bro. Willerton. Scripture lesson 2nd Peter 1 chapter followed by Sermon by Bro Upper with prayer by Bro. Preston, text 1 Cor 16 cha, 13 verse. Covenant meeting at 3 p.m. a real spiritual meeting led by Bro. McWilliams. Saturday evening son service led by Bro. Willerton. Scripture lesson 2 Psalms text Exodus 3:11. The committee report that the next session of the Quarterly meeting will be held with the North Branch church. Sunday morning Sunday school opened at 10 a.m. by song "The Old Old Story." Preaching at 11 a.m. prayer by Bro. Preston. Scripture lesson John 14 by Bro. Preston, text John 14, first 3 verses. Sermon by Bro. Upper. At 2:30 p.m. Young People meeting opened by singing and prayer by Bro. Wilerton, a fine program was rendered. Scripture lesson Rom 8, 1,14, conducted by Sister Ethel McKellop. Sunday evening Sunday school discussion. On motion it was voted take one hour in the Quarterly meeting to discuss Sunday School work. Preaching by Bro. Willerton. Meeting opened by song "Will there be any stars in my Crown?" Scripture lesson Heb 9 red by Bro. Preston and prayer by Bro. Preston. E. A. Backus, Clerk pro tem. North Branch May 20, 1910 The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the North Branch church at 3 p.m. Meeting called to order by the clerk. On motion Bro. Preston was elected chairman and opened the meeting by singing and prayers by a number of the delegates. Scripture lesson then a few remarks from the chairman. The minutes of the last session were read and approved. Letters were read from the following churches, vis, North Branch, Clifford, Freemont, Kingston, Novesta, and Amadore. The Treasurer made a report and on motion it was voted that Bro. J. H. Swailes be the clerk and treasurer for the coming year. On motion it was voted that the chair appoint the committee and on motion it was voted that the business committee act as locating committee. The chair appointed for the business committee Sister Vorhes, Bro. McWilliams, and Sister Udell. On motion it was voted that the Sunday morning collection be given to State Work. On motion it was voted that the ten cents dues be reduced to five. On motion it was voted that Bro. Sutphen be a member of the committee to examine Bro. Alford Leg for license and Bro. Preston the second member. On motion it was voted that Sister Vorhes be a member of the Pulpit committee for the next term. Motion to adjourn to the call of the chair with prayer by Bro. E. Sutphen. Friday evening preaching by Bro. Crouter of Marlette. Saturday, May 21, 1910 Conference called to order by the chair. Meeting opened by singing. Scripture lesson and prayer by Bro. Crouter of Marlette. A report from the committee on the locating of the next Quarterly Meeting was given by the chairman and reported it to be held with the Kingston church. A motion was made by Bro. Geo. Chase that the Quarterly Meeting give one hundred to the Faring Mission. The question was discussed, pro and con and finally the motion withdrawn. On motion it was voted that we appoint a committee to look after the needs of the Quarterly Meeting and report at the next session as such committee. The chair appointed Bro. McWilliams and Bro. Myers. On motion it was voted that we reconsider the vote to change the dues and leave them at ten cents. Motion to adjourn. The Woman Missionary Society called to order by Sister Stirton. Opened with singing and prayer by Sister Chase. Scripture reading by Sister Stirton. The minutes were read by the clerk under the order of the business. Mrs. C. Leg was elected a member of the Pulpit committee for the next session of the Quarterly meeting. At 11:15 a.m. preaching by Bro. Alford Leg of Kingston. Scripture lesson 14 Luke by Sutpen and prayer by Bro. Osborn of Melvin. Text 16 and 17 verse of 14th C of Luke. Saturday 2:30 p.m. a general Covenant Meeting led by Bro. J. H. Swailes after which the Lords Supper was administered by Bro. Sutphen and Bro. A. Osborn. Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. a missionary meeting was held with a sermon by Bro. A. Osborn of Melvin with a collection of four dollars and fifty cents. Sunday at 10:30 a.m. preaching by Bro. E. Supthen Scripture lesson 3rd Ch of James with prayer by Bro. A. Osborn. Text 51st verse of the 7 ch of Acts. Sunday 2:30 p.m. Young Peoples Meeting with a fine Program rendered, led by the Prsident Miss Ethel MeKellop. Sunday evening preaching by Bro. Sutphen to a full house. Sunday morning collection $6.00. Given to the State work to state treasurer W. P. Vanwarmer, Hillsdale. J. H. Swailes, clerk.
Kingston, August 18, 1910 The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting was held with the Kingston church. The business sessions was opened by the Kingston pastor, Rev. E. Sutphen. Our quarterly meeting clerk, Bro. Swailes, was necessarily absent. After a song, Bro. Sutphen was elected chairman and Bro. McWilliams assistant chairman. Susie E. Vorhess was elected clerk pro tem. Letters were read from Kingston, North Branch, Watertown, North Goodland, and Lamott churches. A locating committee was elected consisting of Bros Kerby, Sumerville, and Keeler. Business committee Bro. George Chase, Bro. Sumerville, and Bro. McWilliams. Rea Preston was elected as delegate as delegate to the Michigan association. Rev. E. Sutphen elected as corresponding delegate to Oxford Q. M. Mr. Bonne as delegate from the Oxford Q. M> was present and being called upon gave a good report from that Quarterly Meeting. The committee to see the work of the Northern churches was called upon to report. Mr. Myers was not present but Mr. McWilliams reported that he wrote a Mr. Miller at Pigeon in July but never received any reply. Mr. Sharp and Mr. Kirby of Clifford gave strong appeals for the Quarterly Meeting to help them financially as they are repairing the church are few in number and need the help. After some discussion a motion was carried that our Quarterly Meeting give them help to the amount of twenty five dollars after which meeting was adjourned and closed with singing followed by prayer by Rev. Sutphen. Friday evening opened with a song service led by Bro. Sutphen after which Rev. Preston not having arrived as expected, Bro. Sutphen read the scripture lesson from the 17th chapt of John and called upon Bro. Seely to lead in prayer. Then Rev Sutphen preached from the text found in Romans 8. "If any man have not the Spirit of Christ he is not of his." A song led by the choir followed by a testimony meeting in which 27 witnessed for Christ. Announcements given and meeting closed by all singing "Praise God", followed with prayer by Rev. Sutphen. Saturday morning business session was opened with a song, prayer offered by Bro. Holcomb. Then came the reading of the minutes of yesterday meeting which was accepted. The Locating committee recommended that our next Q.M. be held at Clifford which was accepted . Bro. Kirby of Clifford was elected on Pulpit committee for next Quarterly Meeting. A letter was read from the Novesta church. The Sunday morning collection was voted to Rev. Williams after which meeting was adjourned and closed out with prayer by Bro. Sutphen. Womans Missionary Business session then took up the time until eleven o clock. Then a sermon followed preached by Rev. Sutphen. Saturday afternoon Covenant meeting opened with singing, scripture reading and prayer by Mr. Glazier a student of Hillsdale college who also conducted the covenant meeting in which 59 testimonies were given. No other pastors being present Bro. Sutphen took charge of the communion service with the assistance of deacons McWilliams, Sumerville Kirby and Bonnie. Service closed with singing "Praise God from whom all blessings flow", and prayer by Rev. Sutphen. At the close of the Covenant meeting a C. E. Business session was called by our President Miss Ethel McKillop. Officers were elected and other business done. Closed with C.E. benediction. Saturday evening was in charge of the Womans Missionary Society. The sermon preached by Rev. Sutphen. Collection $7.30. Sunday morning Sunday school at half past nine followed by a sermon from Rev. Sutphen text found in 2 Cor 5:20, 6:1,3,9. Afternoon the Young Peoples meeting a good Program. The Sunday evening service sermon by Bro. Glazier. Sunday morning collection $6.59. Susie E. Vohies, Clerk protem. Clifford, November 11, 1910 The Sanilac Quarterly meeting convened with the Clifford church. Meeting called to order by the clerk. On motion Bro. Crouter, Pastor of the church was elected chairman of the meeting and opened the conference by singing, with prayer by Bro. Andrews. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. A letter read from the Freemont church. The chair then appointed the following committees for business, Bros Wm. McWilliams, John Sharp, and E. Erven. Locating committee Brs. E. Sutphen, George Sharp and H.H. Andrews. On motion it was voted to put the Sunday morning collection in the Q. M. treasurer. On motion it was voted that Bro. Sutphen be added to the committee to look after the Pigeon church. Moved and supported that the Quarterly meeting give one hundred dollars to Bro. Roy C. Preston towards paying the expenses of his long sickness. The motion was tabled till tomorrow morning session. Bro. Willice from the Oxford Quarterly Meeting was present and gave a good report from that Body. On motion it was voted that Bro. Sutphen be delegate to the Oxford Quarterly Meeting. Motion to adjourn to the call of the chair. Prayer by Bro. Crouter. Friday evening Preaching by Bro. Walice of the Oxford Quarterly Meeting followed by a testimony meeting.
Saturday November 12, 1910 Conference called to order by Bro. Sutphen and opened by singing and prayer by Bro. Andrews, Walice and others and singing. The minutes of yesterday session read and approved. Letters read from Novesta, with verbal report from Watertown and Clifford. On motion of Bro. Andrews the motion that was tabled yesterday was taken up and Bro. Walice was requested to pray before any action taken on the motion. It was then voted that the Quarterly Meeting give Bro. Preston one hundred dollars with a request from the Quarterly Meeting not to go to work for six weeks. The Locating committee reported the next Q. M. to be held with the Novesta church. Motion to adjourn , prayer by Bro. McWilliams. 11 a.m. preaching by Bro. Walice of the Oxford Q. M. meeting opened by singing and prayer by Bro. Andrews and several short sentence prayers. At 2:30 p.m. a general Covenant meeting led by Bro. Walice after which the Lords Supper was administered by Bros Walice and Andrews. Saturday evening preaching by Bro. Andrews. Sunday morning 9:30 Prayer and Praise service by Bro. Andrews. 10:30 preaching by Bro. Eugene Sutphen. At 2 p.m. Sunday school followed by Young Peoples meeting with a good Program.
