QUARTERLY MEETINGS

1919

May 16, 1919

The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting convened with the Kingston Church. Business meet was called to order after a prayer and praise service. Bro. Sutphen was elected chairman and Bro. Hatfield was elected clerk, pro tem. Letter from the Kingston church was read and Mrs. Kirby gave a verbal report of the Clifford church and Mrs. Collins gave a like report of encouragement for Novesta. Bro. McWilliams gave a report for the Watertown church. Bro. Edd Ross gave a report of encouragement from the Cash Church.

Election of clerk Bro. Peckway elected clerk for one year.

Appointment of Pulpit committee, Bro. Sutphen chairman, Bro. Willerton, Sister Kirby.

Locating committee, Bro. King, chairman, Bro. McWilliams, Sister Collins.

Motion made and carried that the Sunday morning collection be left with the Kingston Church.

Moved to adjourn to call of chair.

Meeting closed with prayer by Bro. Thorp.

Sat, Aug 9, 1919

Sanilac Quarterly meeting met with the Novesta church. Clerk not being present no business session was held.

Aug 10, Sunday 10 a.m. Sabbath School which was well attended.

11 a.m. preaching by Bro. Willerton, singing "We can do it if we try." Bro. King brought us the message, using the text, "You hath be quickened who wer dead in trepasses and sin." Service was concluded by singing: "Precious Promise."

3 p,m. Testimony Meeting led by Bro. Stewart Charles. Followed by preaching. Bro. Dunk of North Branch, preached a very helpful sermon, taking for his text the 5th verse of the 1st chapter of the book of Solomon. After the preaching service a business session was held. 12 delegates being present.

Motion made and carried that the clerk act as chairman. A letter from Novesta church was read. Sister Kirby gave a verbal report of the Clifford church and Bro. McWilliams gave a like report from the Watertown church.

Locating committee was elected as follows: Sister Kirby, Chairman, Bro. King, Bro. McWilliams.

Motion made and carried that the Missionary money now on hand be turned over to the President Mrs. Neal.

Motion made and carried that the clerk read the constitution and by laws of the Sanilac Quarterly Meeting at the next session. Locating committee reported that the next session of the Q.M. would be held with the Watertown church.

Moved to adjourn.

Watertown, Nov 7, 1919

The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting met with the Watertown Church. No session was held on Friday.

Meeting opened at 10:45 o clock on Saturday morning with but few delegates present. Bro. Nightingale was elected chairman. Singing, "Jesus is all the World to Me." Prayer by Bro. Dunk, followed by others. The chairman then read the 17th Psalm. Singing "Where Jesus is tis heaven there."

This was followed by the reading of the letters form the different churches. Kingston and Novesta reported good interest and good attendance.

North Branch and Clifford and Watertown churches are with a pastor at present.

Pulpit committee was elected as follows: Bro. Sutphen, chairman, Bro. King, and Bro. Kirby.

Locating committee, Bro. McWilliams, chairman, Bro. J. F McConnel and Bro. John Woolley.

Motion made and carried that the Sunday morning collection be left with the Watetown church. Moved to adjourn, singing, "All the way my Saviour leads me." Meeting was dismissed by Bro. King.

Saturday afternoon Covenant meeting opened at 2:30. The meeting was led by Bro. King and although the attendance was small those present had a good spiritual feast.

Another business session was held. Motion made and carried that Bro. Peter Upper be given a letter of recommendation which was done. On request, the Consitution and bylaws of the Sanilac Quarterly Conference were read by the clerk.

Moved to adjourn.

Saturday evening

Meeting was opened with prayer and praise service, which was followed by a very helpful sermon from Bro. Bingsley of Flint.

Sunday morning

Prayer and Praise service at 10 o clock was followed by a splendid sermon by Bro. Sutphen.

Sunday morning collection $7.18

After morning service the Ladies Missionary Society had a meeting which was led by Sister Kirby. Motion made and carried that Sister Mable Supthen act as treasurer of the society. Motion made and carried that the money on hand be sent to Bro. Leake, Supt. of Missions.

Motion made to adjourn.

Locating committee stated that the next session of the Quarterly Conference would be held with the Clifford church.
