Clifford, May 1, 1920 The Sanilac Quarterly Meeting met with the Clifford church. No session was held on Friday. Saturday morning delegates were present from North Branch, Clifford, Kingston, and Novesta. Meeting opened with Praise service followed by Clerks report which was accepted as read. Elder Shinn was elected chairman. Letters from the Kingston and Novesta churches were read. Both churches reported a good spiritual condition. Bro. Shinn gave a verbal report of the North Branch and Clifford churches. The following committees were elected: Pulpit committee: Bro. Shinn, Bro. King and Bro. Sharp. Locating committee: Bro. Wooley, Bro. Sutphen and Bro. Townsend. By vote it was decided the Sunday morning collection should be left with the Clifford church. Business session was followed. Testimony meeting which was enjoyed by all present. Elder Sutphen then took charge of the service and preached a very helpful sermon. Covenant meeting on Sat. afternoon and preaching Sat. evening by Bro. Willerton. Bro. Hosner brought us the message on Sunday morning and Bro. Shinn preached in the afternoon. Attendance was good at both services. The whole session was a time of spiritual uplift to those present. The Locating committee decided that the next session would meet with the Novesta church. W.J. Peck, Q.M. Clerk. Novesta, Aug 22, 1920 The Sanilac Quarterly meeting met with the Novesta church. There being no delegates present on Friday afternoon the business session was held on Saturday morning with a goodly number of delegates present. Bro. Myers of Hudson was with us to take charge or the ordination of Bro. Fred Hosner. Meeting was opened by singing, followed by the reading of the minutes of the previous session, which were accepted as read. Letters were read from the North Branch, Kingston and Novesta churches. Bro. Shinn gave a verbal report of the Clifford church. Pulpit and Locating committee was chosen as follows: Bro. Willerton, Sister Neal and Bro. Holcomb. Motion was made and carried that a special collection be taken on Sunday morning to pay the expenses. The following committee was chosen to examine Bro. Hosner in regard to his ordination as a minister of the gospel. Bro. Myers chairman, Bro. Willerton, Bro. Sutphen, Bro. Shinn, and Bro. Peck. The committee examined Bro. Hosner and found no reason why he should not ordained. Motion was made and carried that Sister Hosner be licensed as an Evangelist. There being no more business presented the meeting was adjourned. Aug 28, The ordination of Bro. Hosner took place on Sunday morning. Bro. Myers preached the sermon and gave the charge to the candidate. This was followed by prayer and the laying on of hands. The right hand of fellowship was given to Bro. Hosner by the Quarterly meeting clerk. W. J. Peck, Clerk.
Kingston, Nov 20, 1920. The Sanilac Quarterly conference met with the Kingston church. On Friday evening Miss Daniels, a returned missionary gave a talk on missions. Nov 21. The business session was opened by prayer and praise service. This was followed by the reading of the minutes of the previous sessions, which were accepted as read. Motion was made that Bro. Hosner act as chairman. The Pulpit and Locating committee was elected as follows. Sister Neal, chairman, Bro. Hunter and Sister Hosner. By request the Constitution and Bylaws of the conference were read. Letters from the North Branch, Kingston, and Novesta churches were read. Bro Shinn not being able to attend on account of sickness in his family, a motion was made and carried that the clerk him a letter of sympathy. Motion made and carried that a special collection be taken on Sunday morning for Bro. Porter. Motion made and carried that the members pay Quarterly Meeting dues to Sister Hill during present session. Motion made and carried that meeting adjourn to the call of the chair. After the business meeting, Miss Danies gave another talk. The covenant meeting was fairly well attended. Bro. Porter preached in the evening. Nov 22, Sunday morning, Bro. Porter brought the message. The church being well filled. Bro. King preached to us Sunday afternoon and Sister Hosner preached in the evening.
