QUARTERLY MEETINGS

1926

Kingston, May 7, 1926

The regular Quarterly session opened on Friday evening. Miss Daisy Hudson brought us the message. She spoke from the book of Ruth.

On Saturday morning Bro. Sherk preached, taking for his text Ephesians 6:10.

Saturday afternoon the meeting opened with a business session. The following committee were elected. Entertainment committee, Sister Peck. Sister Corliss, and Bro. Nightingale. Pulpit committee Sister Sherk, Bro. Peck and Sister Ferres.

Bro. Sherk was elected chairman of this Quarterly session. Bro. Peck was elected clerk for the coming year. Motion made and carried that we take a missionary offering and the money be sent direct to some missionary.

Moved and supported that the Sunday morning offering be left with the Kingston church.

Business session was followed by the covenant meeting in charge of the clerk. Attendance and interest were good.

Saturday evening were listened to a very helpful message from Sister Ferres. Her text was Matt. 20:22.

Sunday morning Bro. Sherk from 1st Cor. 2:8-9, and in the afternoon from Daniel 1:8.

On Sunday evening Bro. Ferres preached from Isa. 59.

Locating committee reported that the next Quarterly Meeting would be held with the Clifford Church.

Clifford, Aug 6, 1926

The Sanalac Quarterly Meeting convened in the Clifford church. Friday evening Bro. Sherk brought us the message using for his text 1st Cor. 16:13.

On Saturday morning the service was opened by singing "I Need Thee Every Hour." Sermon by Bro. Sherk. His text was from John 16:7.

The afternoon session was opened by singing hymn 147. Followed by prayer by Bro. Willerton.

The following were elected to act as Pulpit and Locating committee. Mrs. Peck, Mrs. Oscar Williams and Mr. Tibble. Bro. Sherk was elected chairman of this Quarterly Session. A letter from the Clifford church was read and enjoyed by all. The business session was followed by the Covenant meeting which was led by Bro. Willerton. The evening session was opened by singing followed by prayer by Bro. Sherk and Bro. Tibble. Bro. Willerton delivered the message, taking for his text Romans 12:1.

Bro. Ferres preached Sunday morning. Bro. Sherk in the afternoon and Sister Ferres in the evening. The locating committee reported that the next Quarterly session would be held at the Novesta church.

Kingston, Nov 13, 1926

On account of an epidemic of Diptheria, The Sanalac Quarterly Meeting was held at Kingston instead of Novesta. Friday evening Bro. Ferres brought the message.

Saturday afternoon was the Covenant meeting which was led by Bro. Sherk. After the testimony meeting, a short business session was held.

Bro. Sherk was elected chairman.

The following were elected as pulpit and locating committee: Sister McDonald, Sister Peck, and Bro. Peck.

The question of discontinuing the Quarterly Meeting was brought up and discussed. A motion was made by Sister Nightingale and seconded by Sister Mable Hunter that the Quarterly Meeting be discontinued for one year. Motion carried.

After partaking of the Communion the meeting was dismissed.
